Hows this for a hot take...if you think hes the 15th best starting goalie in the league that also means you think hes a bonafide starting goalie. You already said that over half the league has a worse goalie starting in thier net on any given day.
You seem like an analyst channel, but all I heard you say was “I don’t know” and “I hope” if you aren’t sure then don’t make some opinions based on your feelings. The numbers are there and Edmonton is going to dominate the nhl this season. Bet on EDMvNYR in the SCF
Nice to see ya, took from the last whistle of the SCF until last night away from this team.... Frustration. I'm with ya man. The concerns I had at the end of the session were tending and defense.... Neither of which were improved upon. What I saw during the summer was Leon getting paid more than I thought he was worth (he floats way too much), the loss of future skill in Broberg, a hit to the team speed and the acquisition of a couple older guys. Being older myself, I know that can at least be beneficial but dropping speed, which the team is known for and not improving the backend, I'm not sure the distance they'll go. 2 6-1 preseason losses is telling, regardless of who was dressed then last night barely squeaking one out, I can only hope they at least start the season better than last year. I'll try and revisit this after the break and see how much hate came my way since.
I agree that we broberg was a loss but at the same time we haven’t seen much. I would have liked to keep him but the 4 mil was an over pay and broberg wanted out. All we can hope for is for stecher and emberson to play well enough. I hope they can find another D man in the future. But let’s see how they play cause again before coffee came in we weren’t really moving the puck with the D and coffee as made a big change in making the D move the puck fast and effective. So I think will be okay for now and build on it during the year to be better for the playoffs.
I think Ty Emberson will surprise the Oilers fans, and there not changing the blue line.. amd with the goaltenders don't really need to worry, Stu did his job and another experience that he has under his belt, and as long he's 900 900+ goaltender he's the guy that can, and now this is the opportunity to show the team that they can rely on him and Pickard
I compare these two to some older hockey players. Quinn reminds me of Erik Karlsson, while Evan reminds me of Brian Leech. Who would you rather have on your team, Karlsson or Leech? Either way, it is hard to go wrong!
I love Bouchard and the oilers and I think that he might be more built for playoff hockey than Hughes. I think it's Draisaitl who goes from a beast in the regular season to an insane animal in the playoffs in terms of production. Not to mention, I don't know how much playoff experience Hughes and Pettersson have, especially compared to the oilers
Hol up Hughs getting 10 points in 13 games is not showing up? That is still fantastic production for a d-man Plus you have to realize that everyone is taking less chances without demko, even if silovs was solid
Bouchard benefits HUGE from his line mates. Quinn would smoke Bouchards numbers if he was on the ice with McDavid & Draisaitl. Your bias (albeit slight) is showing (on your walls 😜).
Not even the same type of Dman, Quinn gets pushed off the puck by a 12 year old kid, doesn't defend for shit. Bouch has some position lapses but can also shoot the puck through a goalies stomach. I guess it's just a biased opinion like most on this thread anyway.
@@aboveaverage5979 That is true yet Hughes still has a huge gap on him. Not to mention Hughe's insane TOI. You give any team the option to take hughes or bouch 100% are taking hughes
Stylistically Bouchard fits with McDavid better than Hughes would with McDavid. Hughes drives play but that would be less beneficial with McDavid who doesn’t need that in a defensemen as he’s the best in the world at it.
Evan Bouchard's numbers are vastly inflated by quarterbacking McDavid's power play unit. Quinn Hughes is the better player, no competition. Also it's unfair to judge Hughes' playoffs when the Canucks had not been to the playoffs in a while whereas Bouchard has tons of experience.
Bouch has 20 more playoffs games under his belt... But Quinn Hughes has 100 more regular season games under his belt. So technically Hughes has more experience.
@@aboveaverage5979 Playoffs is a different beast than the regular season, mate. Teams really turn up the heat there. So no. Bouchard still has more playoffs experience.
If the Canucks traded Hughes for Bouchard, the Oilers would be bragging about how the fleeced the Canucks, and the Canucks would be immediately ridiculed by the entire hockey world.
well maybe a person who thinks points are what makes the best player he's better but how many times did players blow by him to get a grade A chance how many times were they pinned in their end because he couldnt get the puck out . Theres more to being the better player then points
Nothing to do in dreadmonton so they think up fantasies that ain't reality, chronic boredom, and meth no brain stimulation is dangerous mix in the city of irrelevance
It’s so funny hearing everyone saying “lets see how good he is away from McDavid” or “If Bouchard didn’t have McDavid, Bouchard will be an AHL player”. I think I’ve heard the exact same thing with Leon and Hyman. So from these stupid logics, without McDavid, Leon is a 70 point player, Hyman is a top 9 player and Bouchard is an AHL guy. Makes me laugh how delusional people can be and don’t realize all these guys are top end players without McDavid. Sure McDavid obviously helps but insanely delusional comments. I guess with that logic Paul Coffey isn’t one of the best d man of all time because he played with Wayne, Kurri and Messier???
Defensive play is so, so, so important. And when you have a team that is so offensive (Oilers), someone like Hughes would be better. You need a balanced team. And I don't think there are enough defensive defenseman out there to fill the holes.
Would we have this conversation if Hughes were playing with McDavid and Draisaitl? No. The Canucks had no second line last season. We'll see how the Oilers can handle Peterson's line now that he has a supporting cast. Expect JT Miller's line to produce in a big way as well with Boeser in a contract year. Watch the Canucks bottom six to wear out and produce offense which will free up their top 6. I don't think the defense or goaltending would be an issue as well if the forwards are doing their job in banging teams down and keeping their opponents on the other end of the ice with scoring chances. That being said, the team that stays healthy will be more productive in the playoffs. Expect to see the smart teams on top to have an early push the start of this season. If the Oilers needed a game 7 to pass the Canucks of last year, yeah...I don't think that would ever happen this time around. Stay healthy my friends.
To be totally fair.....Bouchard has to repeat his points before you can have this conversation and learning a little bit about defense couldn't hurt either.....he's brutal!
Lol punish him because he has better players? Can't have it both ways Cafuck fans, you try and say the Canucks are a better team, so wouldn't that mean they have better players? And bouch smoked Hughes in playoffz
now as a canucks fan i gotta say something, i didnt hear in the video that you have to take into account is the playoff experience between the 2 (i would think playoff experience is important for a small guy who can get hit easily so he knows how to handle it) and the players surrounding them. this was Quinn Hughes first time being in a non pandemic playoffs environment and Bouchard has been i believe 3 times, you can let me know if I'm wrong. and as i said before the players surrounding them, my assumption would be is if Quinn Hughes had Draisaitl and Mcdavid to play with him he could put up similar points probably a little less. Quinn Hughes had a injured Petterson who couldn't perform and jt miller. i would bet that when Hughes gets more playoffs experience he will outperform Bouchard, though Bouchard is also going to get better with time. (ok just looked it up and Bouchards first time in the playoffs actually had very similar numbers to Hughes) now i know people will hate and say that im wrong, im biased, or even playoff experience isn't that important and whatever someone's brain may conjure up. im not trying to be biased just trying to say my piece and my thoughts on the matter. good day to you all. this comment is way to long but there is no turning back now lol.
Its an interesting debate, Bouche is great, but he played almost exclusively in a five man unit with Mcdavids line in the playoffs. It's hard to evaluate his true value when you have a guy that warps gravity on the ice.
If you put in conversations with the likes of Brian Leetch, and Booby Orr. You're probably a pretty special player. Setting playoff records makes you a special player too. We all have our bias answers. I do think that Hughes is better than Makar. Makar had a much better team when he broke out. Quinn is leading his team out of depression. So I believe the pressure is higher on Hughes. I dont know? Just blabbering. And yes I know the talk is about Bouchard.
I thought it would be aboot 13.75m/yr. According to Price is Right law, you win an all expenses paid trip to Germany, a new BMW and a years supply of bratwurst. Lucky
I've always thought that Quinns biggest weakness is that he isn't as sturdy of a person as Makar is. He's just easier to move off of the puck than Makar is. This is most noticeable in the defensive end, but Quinn has made up for this a lot with his skating ability, especially this season. The difference between the two has always been overstated, and it helps a lot when you play with Mack and Rantanen your whole career.
