As someone who moved every year for 10 years, there is NO RUSH! You'll find a home for everything, just get the basics in ☺️ as for the bits and bobs, if you unpack a box per week, everything will find its home 🥰♥️
When I moved into my home I bought myself a 360 mop with a telescopic handle and a swivel head.. Best thing I ever did! Easy to sweep over the floor and the heads just snap on and pop off and go in the washing machines. Also if you’re like me and your always worried about using too much strength pushing down to drain the water it’s actually really fun to just spin the mop around to dry it out.. Totally recommend works great on large laminate areas ❤
Moving hard ❤ you’ll get there I love my flash mop I but fabulisa in mine I have to move again soon just painted all My walls white due to kids drawing on wall so not looking forward to packing again Sending love ❤❤ enjoy your new house xx
I'm from Central NY and around here our go to spices are salt, pepper, onion powder and garlic powder. I use this (unless I'm following a recipe) for chicken and burger meat. It's especially great if you put equal parts of that in a bowl or bag and marinate chicken in it before you cook it. Insert chefs kiss. I should also mention we very much have "strange food" I'm told. Salt potatoes for.example are a necessity here.
Well I'm in the same boat! I'm about to move I have just started to pack and I'm already overwhelmed yet so excited! Thank you for taking us along, it's actually helping me get it to the right mind set for this big move!
Seeeeeee...... you are ment to come back to NZ we are a shoes at the door nation (we are also an accidentally leave your shoes at your friends house coz you forget to put them back on nation haha) Side note ALL my dishes, cups etc are near the dishwasher. You can carry one pot to the plates, but carrying everything from the dishwasher (screw that haha) Also my teaspoons aren't in the cutlery draw they are in a cute pottery jar where the tea/is made lol
When we moved a few years back, we had to hire a huge removal van. Honestly, houses are like Mary Poppins handbag! The stuff was never-ending. Baring in mind, we moved from 2 single en suit rooms which were provided to us by work (literally bedroom and bathroom with communal kitchen and utility), and we also had a garage (which was just ours, again provided to us by work ). The amount of stuff you unknowingly hoard really is humbling when you move house. Once we had everything in the house, we were genuinely baffled about how we ever managed to fit it into such a small space!
I can’t tell you how mind blowing your old kitchen being wrapped was for me 🤣 please tell me what you use for the wallpaper and wraps because I love those ideas!! 🥰
I alway stock dishes as close to sink or dishwasher, to make easy to put it away. Then when I need them I pull the out and put them next to cooking area.
I've moved 4 times so far. Just put stuff away for now, because you will change it a round a few times until you find what works for you. Another idea for your spices is to get a piece of wood for the stuff at the back to sit on so you can see what you have. If I can think of anything else I'll let you know
These mops are best for the in between actual mops or if you have a small area. I got the kind that you put the base in the wash after using it and it sprays disinfectant ahead
There are two boxes you should pack to go with you in the car, regardless of what else you’re taking in the car: Box No. 1 should be where all screws bolts and things required to put furniture together along with the tools used to do that. The second box should contain a kettle and mugs to brew your favourite beverage, 1 bowl, plate and set of utensils per person, milk, one tea towel and dishwashing detergent. That way, when you get to your new house, you can at least make yourself a cuppa before you start getting things unpacked.
Take it box by box. Set realistic goals for yourself, and as you reach those goals, mark it off. That way, you can physically see how far you have come. Just take things one step at a time. You've got this.
My husband and I have moved 8 times in 6 years (including 3rd floor and 3 level homes) 😭 He’s a contractor so we have lots of stuff and lots of tools - Heavy. Tools. We also have 2 pets and 2 vehicles. And yes, I also complain we have too much stuff because we do! lol I would take your move any day, if that tells you anything Jazz.
Hi Jazzy & Nick. You must be both so tired, we have never moved, we have been in our house for nearly 48yrs. You both seem really happy in your new home already. Many congratulations in your new home. Patricia ❤
Just be prepared to rearrange. You already had the right idea, trying to imagine where you would do what in your kitchen, but don’t be afraid, after a few weeks, to switch things around as you get accustomed to your new space. You’ll get it figured out. No one likes all the work of moving stuff around but sometimes it’s needed. So don’t stress too much. You got this!
I think that our "things" multiply while we move...lol It is so hard sorting out how your kitchen works best, I take so much time getting it right, good luck :).
I have moved… 9 times in my life! One of those from Argentina to Spain! And is always so overwhelming and sooo much work! I found that the best is to clean and organize one room at a time so you have a “brain break” room that ir ready when you are feeling like there is to much to do! Start with the one you need the most (usually bathroom or kitchen) and work you way up to the least urgent one! I am LOVING the moving series! ❤❤
I find it funny how you love open plan and a regular mop while I've always had open plan not a fan of it or a regular mop I can't a regular mop its so labor intensive and annoying. Swiffer is better, you just used a new mop on a new house so it's bound to be more dirty than normal. XD everyone's different. I say all that as someone who also just moved but I didn't;t have the luxury of going home to pack more and make more trips I moved states so I had to load up a big ass U'Haul and pack as much as I could in that and my car.
The mop you got is fine , but you may need different extra sheets. The once it came with could already have been dried out little as well. I use same kind of mop , but from "Swiffer" brand for daily clean after my cats, but i buy the sheets that are for "Pets" they come in a box they are super wet.
My husband and I have been in our home for 15 years. I do not have enough fingers and toes to count how many times I have rearranged my kitchen cabinets and drawers! Some things always have stayed the same but other things have moved around depending on our current needs. You will find the right place for everything once you get in there and start cooking! As for the white dust...that is just new construction dust. Sheetrock etc. I cannot remember if you said you were buying or renting. Regardless, whoever is responsible for changing the HVAC filters (assuming you have central air), be sure to keep a close eye on them at the beginning. They may need to be changed sooner than normal because of all of the construction dust. This will help with multiple things but most importantly, the life of your HVAC unit. (My husband and I own an HVAC company) Congrats on your new home and Cheers to a whole new chapter in life! 🥂
