I used to buy police crown vics at municipal auctions in NM for around $1000 each with 100K miles on them. I used them as cabs and one point I had 13 of them on the road. I typically ran them up to 500,000 miles before I'd sell them off. Police crown vics (Interceptors) have P71 in the VIN vs civilian ones that have P73 in their VINs.
The son and I were driving around with 20 gallons of water and about 200 ice cold bottles of water for those waiting in a line around Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park. But..... they seemed to have done a better job than most about getting cars in and parked. No lines we seen.
If that is just a city auction and not a dealer auction. That is some great prices. In this area a POS with 200,000+ miles on and they will try to get 2k + out of it.
$2.5K for a BMW 635CSI?! 🤣 A good example of those can easily fetch €15-20K here in Euroland, though it would get discounted for being an automatic. [No wonder the auction yanked it]
You went through my neck of the woods. Tons of cool cars around here. Richmond /connersville/ new castle all had nice paying factory jobs back in the day and a lot of those cars are still around
Thanks for showing places in my home state that I've never seen. I'm a GM guy at heart but I have to say the blue Ford Fairlane 500 was a standout beauty. Thanks for the tour! Go Hoosiers!! 🇺🇸
getting in was a breeze. i got there about 1030, had to park in the spectator area temporarily until the gates opened. had a great conversation with a fella from england. they opened the gates about 11-1115, and it was smooth sailing into the venue. leaving was easy as i was right by that bus near the exit you video'ed. there was tar or sealant on the road leaving though, probably strategically placed to prevent burnouts by participants as they left. fun day anyway.
VERY cool. Thanks for showing us the views. Have you ever been tempted to purchase a car you want? like that black Monte Carlo? one is none two is one! Hey that truck the 1980 diesel for was $10,500 Not 2500 lol
The hemi engine does not do well when you leave it idle for a long period of time and this is exactly what a lot of police officers do. The low idling does not allow enough oil to get onto the cam and roller lifters, causing a roller lifter failure that leads to grinding the lobes off of the cam. this ticking sound is what you hear when the lobes are wearing out.
Last year I bought a 2017 Dodge Charger Pursuit AWD, it was a NC State Patrol car. Had 131k miles, 1245 idle hours out of a total 4500 hours. Paid 12k for it. Did not have the Hemi tic. It’s been great!
@@streetratgarage Most of the state patrol cars here had about 6000-7000 total hours and over 2k idle hours. This was one of the few with low hours. They come with complete maintenance records. All I had to do with mine was get the front axles replaced.
I would imagine that the cops sit in the car with the air conditioning on so have to leave the engine running. It’s a shame because it damages the engine
So you think that gray Crown Vic might've been sitting 2 to 3 years as you stated in the video and you started it and let it run with potentially bad gas in the tank that if so is now running through the injectors and through the whole car, nice. Apparently your not buying it, though it sucks for the next buyer with what you and probably every other person there is doing.
Every car there will be started by the auction and run for about 20 mins as it waits in line to go on the auction block. If you watched the whole auction, that same car was shown driving through the auction. The driver saw it was starting to over heat and kept on running the car until it was starting to rattle by the time they sold it. Then drove it back to the back lot. So that’s how things work at an auction. And what you need to be aware of before you buy.
Good question. I have to decide what direction I want to go with the car. Also I need to make time to get back to working on it. So it will be a few weeks before I have any thoughts on what I can do with the car. So stay tuned!
Hi Bro, if you don't have State Inspections in your part of The united States. Then would it be possible to purchase some of those Vehicles for Export to Africa. I have been reliably informed, they Love America and Automatic Cars, there...! 🤔🤔😇😇😆😆👍👍
Pretty much every other country wants out cars. But I’m sure you buy some for export. If you a going to buy a large sum you will need a dealers license. But there are some people that buy a couple at a time and export
Any chance of a website for these cars I always wanted a white crown vic I had a 2008 baby blue one from Seattle and currently have a 2011 all black from well still trying figure it out but its from California
The name of the auction house is called Kessler Schaefer auto auction in Indianapolis. Just google that name and it’ll take you to their website where you can navigate to online auctions.
That Dodge Charger at 21:28 was a Scat Pack, Engine Code (8th digit) was J The Lumina, you can still go to the dealers and get chip keys, they continue to make them because of Corvette and Camaro owners.
