Thank you, my 80 yr old mom has a sweet 6 yr old pitty with skin issues like this. I’ll have to pass this info along to her. My mom and her girl are inseparable and it breaks mom’s heart to see her itchy blotchy.
I find that many owner misunderstand their own dogs. Just because your dog seems friendly. They often take their ques from their owner. If the owner is doing a good job with training. They are not brainless and form their own thoughts about people they encounter. If the owner is not around to have that alpha influence or if the dog feels strongly enough about something. They will take a fight or flight response. Large breeds are likely to side with fight. Depending how the person reacts to the dogs approach, they'll likely be attacked. I have two dogs and one was abused at an early age. If a hadn't been the one to rescue him I wouldn't know this about him. It wouldn't matter for me and just because a dog has been abused doesn't necessarily mean its going to he aggressive. I've been around dogs sense birth. Im very good at reading body language. Hes not aggressive with everybody. But he will test anyone who comes into his space. There are some people he will skip the test and go right into a defensive state of mind. This can turn into aggression real fast. He has never attacked or bitten anyone. I know for a fact if it wasn't for the precautions I take with him, that statement would not be true. If he was with someone who is careless or more accurately ignorant. He would have attacked someone long ago. My other dog is completely different. I still leash her in public of course, for her own protection. She has a completely different approach, almost like she doesn't know people can be dangerous. Thats because she doesn't, I raised her from a puppy. She has a curious and unsure approach to strangers. She doesn't display the same defensive signs as my other dogs. I have seen her display this around curtin dogs. Shes always taken the flight approach rather than fight. Im confident she wouldn't attack anyone for no reason. I would still never leave that to chance. Im not as careful with her but still take precautions to ensure she doesn't get into trouble. What im saying is many people assume their dog is no aggressive because thay haven't attacked or bitten anyone. They end up being very wrong about that. The dogs are acting on their nature. This is normal behavior for them. They're decent from wolves and are all capable of aggressive behavior. They are pack animals and their owners have to assume the leadership roles if they hope to guide them. As a leader its owners responsibility to keep them out of trouble(keep them safe). Allowing them to run around the neighborhood unleashed is not filling that leadership role (alpha) I live out in the middle of butt fu*k nowhere. They get to run around freely all the time. If you live residential, you need to bring them somewhere to run around without bothering anyone. Its your responsibility to ensure they get safe exercise. Where I live its a death sentence for them to be chained up outside. If i lived close enough to town that they could wander into town. Id need to build a strong fences to keep them in and other predictors out. There are a lot of things to consider when owning dogs. Many people will get dogs without considering anything.
It’s my first time owning a pitbull. His name is Smokey and is 5 months old. He’s easy to train and funny as hell sometimes. I’m just curious to see how his temperament will change when he gets older. I had his DNA tested and surprisingly to me it said he is 32% American Pitbull Terr, 24% Bulldog, 19% American Staff Terr, 17% American Bulldog, & 6% French Bulldog. What do you think?
My dog from what I can tell had folliculitus with the raised red bumps. The vet put him on 3 days of prednisone and anti now the skin missing is still getting back. And still has bad skin. It smells so strange to like yeast. So I don’t know what to do. He came from the vet Like this. Another reason why I don’t want to bring him back to that vet.
Both great dogs (altough i am not a fan of micro and exotic bullies, due to the unhealthy exterior how they are built and bred, and xl depending how proportioned and healthy they are built.. same with Frenchies), but to me the physical comparisson of these two breeds (and sub-types in the American bullies) is like comparing a huge musculared show wrestler with a functional agile and fast power athlete and martial artist like Bruce Lee. Although I have also seen very nicely physically conditioned sporting dogs among the bullies, which were very nicely dry and muscular... but unfortunately you see a lot of bullies with the wrong body mass, because many here in the Netherlands suffer from (often serious) obesity.
Spot on with the skin issues being part of their diet, I rescued my blue nose pitbull and the vet said to get him a dog food that has salmon because the omegas will clear up his skin sure enough within a week all his dandruff is gone and his skin has cleared up, crazy how big of a difference high quality dog food makes for their health. He went from pedigree to blue buffalo.
Great job, dogs feed off energy before learning commands. If your dog respects you and is a balanced dog,and you as the owner know how to communicate non-verbally they will quickly catch on to what you want them to do and will adjust their behavior accordingly.
How bout allergies . Wifey apparently has dog allergies so had to return my 9wk American pit.. U think the bully is with short hair is better … Would like to stay with the breed . But who knows …
Allergies can be breed specific. I'm not allergic to pit bills, so I can finally have a dog! Before committing, have your wife spend time with the breed or specific dog to see if she has a reaction.
Me personally I never loved anything about American Bullies or pocket bullies am not hating just my opinion. My fav breed is the APBT and will always be♥️💯.
They’re both great breeds and so sweet! I have an American bully and I’m always telling people she’s not a pit bull. My girl is a big mush and she’s so gentle with my grandson. She’s been to several rounds of training and she’s so well behaved! She’s never destroyed anything she’s not supposed to and she’s super smart. I love your love for Bully breeds ❤
I was just chased by 2 unmuzzled Pit Bull Terrors released by "The Omen" (1976) 3 weeks ago myself. I stopped, turned around and said, "you better stop". They both stopped. Unfortunately, I did twist my ankle to where I could not walk. I had to limp home. I took a trip to the emergency room the following day for that reason. Nothing was broken. I have since recovered and am now able to walk normally. I never want to, but I thought I was going to have to put both beasts down. Pit Bull Terrors are not referred to as "Death Row Dogs" (2008) without reason. This is because Pit Bull Terrors are not dogs, regardless of how adorable, cute, friendly, precious or sweet they may appear. Pit Bull Terrors are actually ferocious, ravenous, relentless, bloodthirsty hybrid/monsters, also referred to as mutants that were bred to search, chase, attack and kill their prey as quickly as possible. Monsters do what monsters do whether two-legged or four-legged. They were produced by mating an Old English Bull dog with an Old English Terrier dog which is a very dangerous mix. Unlike Man, dogs "Goofy - Man's Best Friend" (1952) are not living soul. "Dogs" (1976) "wolf wolf", "Devil Dog: The Hound of Hell" (1978), "Man's Best Friend" (1993), "The Breed" (2006), "Night of the Wild" (2015) and "The Pack" (2016) are beast of the field which means by nature, they are wild. Their smell, ears, nose, jaw structure, sharp teeth, tongue, fur, four legs, four feet, also referred to as paws and tail are all indicators of this, which is why their domain is outside, not inside. The Old English Bull dog and the Old English Terrier dog were each used in blood sport. A blood sport is the only sport where the intended outcome is the death of the opponent. Due to the Pit Bull Terror's deoxyribonucleic acid commonly known as DNA, "it" is the ultimate miniature charging bull (El Toro), "Cujo" (1983) and "Jaws" (1975) combined meaning "it" is specifically bred to kill (BTK) and will attack anyone and anything such as wooden privacy fences, people, including babies, bulls, cows, horses, other Pit Bull Terrors, dogs, cats, cars, bicycles, etc. The Pit Bull Terror is equivalent to the real world four-legged "Tasmanian Devil" cartoon which rules many residences today. What goes on in the wilderness goes on in the "Wilderness" (2006). It is very unfortunate that their advocates/bedmates/servants/poop scoopers/lovers/worshippers somehow seem to either not know or forget this altogether, then learn or are put in remembrance of this the very painful way. My wife is terrified of dogs and Pit Bull Terrors. She gets behind me, holds on tightly and cries when one is near. She has every right to be and to do so. They are not me. If I ever desire to have a pet, I will purchase me an aquarium, then adopt or rescue some goldfish to put in it. Til this day, I have not seen or heard any reports of anyone being bitten, dragged, mangled, mauled, killed or eaten by anyone's pet goldfish. Man likes peace.
I had 2 girl dogs one a pitbull and the other one was a pitbull German shepherd mix they got into 3 fight the last fight I got rid of one now I just have my girl and my boy dog they don’t fight
OMG this is not 💯% at all! Lol. I take my staffy to the park and she sees bigger dogs than her she starts running away with her ears tucked back. Hahahahaha😂😂😂
My older dog and the puppy 8 weeks started to get along better since letting them play tug with each other. Is it ok to let the two play tug? My older sog is 11.
