Just some dude who likes to talk about his weird video game projects. These range from hacking projects I'm working on, talking about what I found through datamining a game, testing out weird interactions about how a mechanic works, or sometimes just discussing a game or challenge run I've been doing. Most of this is Pokemon related, but not everything I do or will do is Pokemon related. Used to do yugioh stuff, but currently have no interest in the game.
I think the hyper mode got removed in favor of the reverse mode in xd because of the new shadow moves and said shadow moves now becoming super effective against non-shadow pokemon. adding a 95% crit chance on top of all that would be too overkill (though i wish they kept the extra interactions for when you tried to use a non-shadow move)

I think there’s 857 pokemon available or just about and as rural player playing since 2016 I have 837. The elite raids, a few of the region locked, and 2 a couple of the rarer egg locked ones have me stuck. But just a small fyi the area of Canada around Niagara Falls has access to the regional pokemon Buffalant!
one you missed with cosmog and poipole is hoopa confined, while it is a mythical so not tradeable it was part of a season research which means it is now unobtainable if you didnt log in during that season. hoopa unbound has also only been released in elite raids, but you cannot switch forms to the confined variant
I mean, even if that's true, I specifically said I'm not covering alternate forms. I have no idea if the Elite Raids ones can't switch back to Confined, however my own Hoopa Unbound, who was from the research, absolutely has the option to switch back to the confined variant.
ive played pogo for a little over two years straight and my dex is mostly complete, the best tip i can give is just stay up to date on events, watch for costumes if they are important to you, and for the love of god play go fest and tour events for regionals. every year the tour events offer every pokemon from a region, with regionals in the eggs
As someone who started playing at release, took a break when my account stopped working, and got back into it just before covid, I have distinct early on memories of getting articuno and lugia through weekly research breakthroughs, and that feeling both special and reasonable.
I understand you are angry, but alot of your info is incorrect. It's almost as if you are trying to use false info to make people as mad as you. Also, you are mad about situations that don't necessarily apply to anyone but you. Just saying.
You mind enlightening me as to what I got wrong aside from how often Ditto's disguises change? I've become aware that I had bad information on that front, and even now can't find good information on it.
Ive been playing since launch and you're absolutely spot on with these points. The pokedex is honestly NOT worth putting the sheer amount of effort and dedication the game expects you to put into completing it. For example, most regionals (in my opinion) are absolutely NOT worth being exclusive to certain areas of the world. Most are just dex completion and are useless in raids and in pvp. (Which are arguably the two biggest modes in the game). They're really just for flexing with friends. Eggs are a massive issue as well, with more baby pokemon than just Mime JR being a pain in the ass to get. No where near as bad as mime jr but still frustrating as you have to wait for a baby pokemon to be put back into the egg pool. Which depending on which ones you need, could take MONTHS. The two things i dislike about the pokedex the most though, is how the game is unintentionally encouraging people to get into spoofing, and how niantic themselves go about releasing new pokemon. Theres so many pokemon that are exclusive to certain areas, locked behind elite raids, and more that i absolutely cant blame someone for getting into spoofing. Nobody is going to want to pay hundreds apon thousands of bucks to take a trip on an airplane, book a hotel, and much more just for a CHANCE to get a fucking comfey of all things. Why go across the world when you can just spend like 20 dollars on a spoofing program? Niantic makes zero sense with their pokemon releases as well, all i really have to say is that we somehow have more gen 9 pokemon in the game than gen 8. Thats quite telling how inconsistent it is

Maybe it's just me but I don't find the base Pokedex particularly hard to fill if you actually go out and interact with people in local communities. I've gotten plenty of regionals from travelers as well as older players that kept them from region swap events I missed. As you've mentioned though, there are plenty of stinkers like the limited mythicals which are just FOMO bait. In addition to this, the extra Pokedexes are just plain cruel. I don't want to imagine the suffering that would come with deciding to complete the shundo Pokedex.
The shundo Pokedex doesn't even exist, as I stated in the video, and thank god it doesn't, cause I don't think I'll ever get one. Otherwise, I'd mostly agree about regionals, not named Mime Jr, however if I didn't bring them up, I'd be eaten alive by the comments. (I will however, continue to state Newfoundland not getting one is absolute bullshit and needs to be fixed) However, I don't think a single person I've ever met playing Go here has a tradable Skiddo, or Skiddo at all.
Also yeah the larvesta issue is incredibly irritating especially now as there is a 4 day event based around hatching a lot of eggs that introduces its shiny for the first time and it’s still only available in eggs. Why is it that they are so incompetent that they can’t just give us research that rewards larvesta, larvesta raids or something other than eggs? Money is the reason and I seriously hate niantic for this. Especially as I’ve waisted almost of the rare candies I get on my larvesta since returning to the game in February and only have 300 candy now.
I hate that I am dreading not knowing if I can even get a mega rayquaza because of the nature of elite raids and autistic burnout. Niantic truly needs to stop making this game so unfriendly for people in rural areas them requiring raids be in person is ableist. It’s getting to the point I might quit Pokémon go again because it’s not seeming worth it anymore.
I know this is commented after 3ds shutdowns but I tried it today and was still able to friend someone else just by exchanging friend codes. Is it still possible to register new friends regardless of the shutdown?
The whole point of this game is to make them hard to catch. (Been playing since release with my gf.) Keeping some of them hard to get is what keeps the game fun. It’s so hard to get some of them and even harder to get a good quality one (hundo), so when you finally get something cool it feels like an actual achievement. I still remember the day I got my shundo kyogre in a hotel bed in Mexico City. It felt unreal, it’s burned in my head forever. Have you ever felt that way about getting any legendary in another Pokémon game? Going to another country and hunting for the regional and hoping you can get a good one, Or keeping those regionals from your trips to trade with your friends back home. The thing about this game is that you are not supposed to play it alone. It is a community experience by design. So yeah, if you don’t have people around you who travel a lot, walk a lot and gather to play the events, the game will obviously not be so cool. But if you do, this game is really really awesome. That being said, them distributing some legendary Pokémon exclusively on paid tickets or the remote raid pass price increase and other niantic related cash grabs suck. This game alone made me and my gf walk around 70 kilometers per week for the last 8 years, talk about good motivation for exercising. 😂
Okay, there's making things hard though, and then there's stuff like Skiddo and potentially endangering public safety due to bad Elite Raid design. I do not have any particularly good memories of any of my captures in Go, like sure, there's Pokemon I caught that I'm fond of, but not more than any other part of the series. I'm currently sitting at 70 hundos, and none of those most people would consider super special, hell most of them were shown in the video. The closest comes from my second hundo, which was ironically also my first dupe, my second hundo Magikarp, hatched the day after my first evolved. Maybe my one Galarian Articuno capture, entirely because catching a single one took from release until last month or so. I don't necessarily believe all things discussed in this video are parts of the problem, regionals (ASIDE from literally not putting one in Newfoundland, considering we're literally the last place on the planet that the game isn't banned and has no access on the entire island) were only mentioned because if I didn't, I'd get flooded with comments about it, same for Ditto, same for Unown even. I was playing a ton of the game during the making of this video, and honestly, all I can say is that this game doesn't actually feel motivating to play for extended periods of time right now... which defeats the entire point.
Currently I am only missing 2 Pokemon in Go (3 if you include Marshadow as I can't go to the in person go fests but I have the ticket) which are Keldeo because I took a break and Zamazenta which I didn't have a community to be invited to and wasn't aware of those raid apps. The only reason I have Zacian was because I was in London at the time and had a gym right next to me
A few comments here. I’m sorry you are struggling with this. 1st thing, this game is about selling your data. If you think anything else about this you are filling yourself. This isn’t a regular pokemon game. This is a live service game, the goal of that along with the original point is that they want you to keep playing so they have to continue to dangle the carrot in front of you. The dex isn’t even done because they still have 1.5 regions(I believe - could be wrong) to go as well as any other special stuff they do. Those two items alone are reason enough to recognize that what you are trying to do is just going to take a grind. One that you and others don’t seem up to. This isn’t a dig at you. You sound a bit upset about this. You should probably reevaluate how you play this game so you aren’t so angry. It is just a game. Also, when you are in winter other people are in summer. Not making a defense for niantic, just saying you have to calm your jets about weather and events. I’m at 22 minutes now and I can’t listen to this anymore. I hope making this video was therapeutic to you and it made you realize this isn’t that important. And then I ffwd to the end and your tone completely changes. You recognize it isn’t something that is reasonable and you sound like a normal adjusted person. Hopefully you didn’t make this and pretended to be outraged, and that this instead was a good way to heal.
The Galarian Zigzagoon hurts me even more because i got a shiny one, and im salty because most of the next hat using pokemon can evolve but that zigzagoon will never get to be a Obstagoon...
The region locked pokemon make me lose my mind, and at this point I’m not gonna try to finish my Pokédex because of that roadblock. I mean I have gotten some from events like pansear, pansage, heatran, sawk, solrock, and the lake guardians (got lucky and got shiny azelf from the timed research) . But other than that I only have durant, tauros, illumise, zangoose, seviper, and I got bouffalant on my way to the airport leave New York after searching for an entire week. I’ve gone to a few of the places where other region locked pokemon are..before I got the app though
Mh i tried it but the keckleon i spawned in, needs 13748 xp to reach level two… any clue on how to fix this? I mean it is just waaaaay to much to be correct…
There's nothing to fix there, that is actually the correct amount of EXP for Kecleon to level up to level 2 in these games. Kecleon received heavy early level nerfs in Explorers to make it not a viable option in level resets anymore. You're just gonna have to wondermail in some golden seeds to get it to the point where its stats are usable.
I don't see how bottle caps fix untradable shadow Pokemon for that dex, this doesn't suddenly make Sawk and Throh able to be traded. Mythicals to enable perfect/3 star dex, sure, but there's no 3 star Shadow dex. That dex needs more than a handful of shadows at a given moment, or just making shadow trades special trades.
While not as terrible as some of the other things mentioned in this video, I’m surprised that Scatterbug was not mentioned. Till this day, I’m still struggling to get a good Sandstorm and Sun Vivillon. 😅
Its not like you NEED to get every single variant as a 3 star or something. Sure, some regions are annoying, I'm missing Ocean and Icy Snow still myself, but I specifically said I'm not counting forms. Getting one Scatterbug from a more common pattern, like Polar for example is super easy. Even if you're not getting friends from local play, you can just go to a site that hosts your friend code for a bit and get tons of new friend requests.
REAL! REAL! REAL! REAL! REAL! The only GO Pokedex I have ever, EVER cared about was the dex in HOME's mobile app. I have 800+ entries and I obtained most of them by trading with people over the GTS. And Spinda's blank entry still laughs at me, because GO Spindas can't be transferred due to a different spot pattern calculation method. Other than that, I have fully completed Kanto through Alola. GO regionals are impossible to get! I don't travel! So I just don't bother.
slight correction for Skiddo. It isnt available just for a few days. It isn't very well known, but if you ever go to a city where they held a Safari Zone event within a year of when it happened, you can buy a paid ticket for a special research rewarding a Skiddo. Still absurd that its paywalled and location specific though
I didn't know about this, but imagine flying out to one of those specific previous cities, just to pay 1$ and get the Skiddo ticket... doesn't even include the event Eevee that was in those events either... jesus christ Niantic, what even is this.
The legendaries like zygarde that you only get one of or even keldeo that was a one of from limited paid research being meta relevant in pvp and raids respectively is actually so annoying
I caught Enamorous in -25 Celcius with freezing wind. Only 3 more players appeared there to that Raid because the weather was so horrible and there was no warm indoor places nearby.
