0:50, 1:13, and 1:30 going right pull up is one of the toughest shots to make (let alone master). The same mechanics (squaring in mid air) are required for the counter clockwise fadeaway. People forget, the ability to pull up in all three directions is what made MJ so great.
how does that make sense if your middle finger is the longest finger and is the last one to make contact w/the ball or at minimum interfere with the release?
sweep and sway!! maan this system is so underrated. i'm not the best at ball but was known as a shooter whenever i'd play at college. forget all those dumb one-hand form shooting drills- real form shooting is simulating a real jumper, and all these techniques put together a nice jumper if you get enough reps in
i tried it 10+ years ago, honestly didn't work (unless its close range), because most of us dont have index finger like jordan or kobe, or kwahi, half the time the ball would fall off the index finger and you struggle to even shoot it. even for me who works out from time to time, do push ups, have stronger than average grip strength (i work on it) struggles. for pretty much everyone, the middle finger is the longest, so middle finger might work, but i still feel not very stable, and now i pick up basketball again i am trying to use the split to give it a better "base" of shooting.
They mention Bird in best shooters ever but I do think West deserves it too. It’s just not easy for those older guys in the 60’s-70’s to get much love. Not a lot of footage unfortunately either.
I was playing A LOT before covid like 2017-2018 and this literally made me feel unlimited range it was actually surprising how much range this gives you. Thanks again.
Ray allen and Danny Green are the only successful shooter who shoot completely squared and toe facing front with arms L pose but even then Ray isn't completely square
Ball location is not as important as loading your body This dip of the ball helps but there are shooters who have a subdued dip others is more pronounced Ray Allen’s line is most important Getting low into the ball
This is not a movement pattern required to shoot a basketball. This is often used by youth players shooting outside their range, college and pros not properly lined up for their shot and the type of athlete who thinks they can make every shot but does not have the stats to back it up. With this mentality.... you use we should also create momentum by shooting from the hip as well. If you were going to use the off body to create momentum, use a javelin throwers mechanics. The most ridiculous analogy is that the mechanics of throwing on a flat plane or a puck on a flat plane and the comparison of shooting a 29.5 basketball to enter a basket 18 inches wide to a 10 foot platform is not reality and the physics are completely different.
pro shot-can i ask you about something? my pointer finger is a little curved towards my middle finger more than normal, i think due to a childhood injury. should i still use it instead of my middle finger?
I had the FORTUNATE pleasure of seeing Jerry West play in Person ONCE. It was Thanksgiving evening November 1971 at the Seattle Center Coliseum and the Lakers were in the early stages of their 33 game winning streak. The Seattle Supersonics lost the game, but I ENJOYED myself, also I saw for the first and ONLY time Wilton Norman Chamberlain, (my I ALL TIME FAVORITE), Gail Goodrich, Jim McMillan, and Happy Hairston etc.....That was a long time ago, I was a young 13yr old
If he had a 3 point line he would have been even more potent - had more points obviously but the spacing for his drives would have been wide open. His shot off the dribble was ahead of his time. Players today like harden curry and Durant all owe something to this great great player
