Cool review. I was watching your Husqvarna vids when I was looking at getting back on a dirt bike (I ended up getting a KTM the same as my mate's) now we have been looking at these MT450s with interest. A couple of our group also have adventure bikes. I really like the look of the CFMoto. The seem to get great reviews and and impressive to behold on the showroom floor (especially for the price).
I have seen many people talk about this bike in their posts. I have seen upgrades available, plus a gearing change for highway use. Service intervals are good. The exhaust tone is really sweet David! This is the bike Honda should have made in lieu of the CRF450L (lemon) that needed so much attention to make it work.
@@MichaelTucker Thanks mate. Gonna leave the gearing for off road. Maybe get a 15 front to swap in and out for the road/beach. Exhaust is a little better again now with the Akro fitted up 🙂 I agree with the Honda, they really missed the mark with their 450L. It is certainly more capable off road, but it's too heavy to be a proper Enduro bike, and it is not set up to be a good ADV bike...
@@michaelsangster5673 Thanks for stopping by. Yes seems like a great bike, especially given the price. I plan on doing lots more of this type of riding once the protection gear arrives.
@@Danger_mouse just the big wide exposed cross spoke rims, start bolting stuff on bike then upping the pace and hitting those hidden gems, tyres flatten out very quickly on 200kg, just my experience on big bikes with cross spoke, I never go under 28min
@@guestappearance3211 Been running 6-10psi on regular rims with Tubliss for years and yet to damage a rim. No way to get grip at 30psi, the tyre can't flex. Thanks for the comment and the explanation, but I'll be running low pressures and riding smart on the rough stuff.
Just ordered a blue MT450 from a dealership north of Brisbane as I had the same sentiments from a local dealer as you. Thanks for taking the time and showing how capable this bike is. Reliability will be the next test but the affordability was too good to pass up. Look forward to your next video clip!
@@frashd So far, I've wound in the fork preload to lift it up the stroke a bit. (in line with the 3rd top mark) I've also reduced the rebound 6 clicks (LH fork clicker) and the compression 3 clicks softer (RH fork). Seems better, but will need another ride to confirm 👍
@@frashd I'll contact you via email.. *Edit struggling to find you * I have had some thoughts on the 'jerky throttle' after watching it closely. The worst of it is around the injector cut and re-awakening at light throttle. David
How will this suspension cope with more difficult terrain? I can ride this motorcycle just like Pol Tarres on the Yamaha Tenere 700, maybe I exaggerated a bit with Pol Tarres😅 but I hope you know what I mean?
Thanks for checking out the video 👍 The suspension isn't a big fan of jumps, the fork crashes through the stroke, but otherwise, it copes pretty well 👍 It's 100% not an Enduro bike, but it rides well. I'll be pushing it a bit harder once I get my sump guard and protection bars fitted 🙂👍
Certainly over the bike Whoa Boy jumps, you can hit them much harder, yes. The pace would be quite a bit quicker, but also this run was on stock tyres and no protection gear installed. I own the bike, so I needed to be careful. I'll be getting into it a bit more once the gear arrives 🙂 Thanks for checking out the video.
@@Danger_mouse - following with intent! Some cruise rides with maybe the occasional overnight stay on this is my next adventure. I love my sherco but the harder stuff does come with its downside (injuries!) thanks for the video as always
Is that paintjob custom? Here we only have the blue or grey version available and I see that you've got the seat from the blue one and the front fender from the grey model. Thanks.
@@kugangles9860 You certainly know it's not an Enduro bike, but it carries the weight low down and is surprisingly manoeuvrable. Definitely not the first choice bike for single track, but it will do it 🙂 Thanks for checking out the video 👍
@@garydoeblin2980 It's not too bad in the dirt. I find it most annoying in low speed corners on road, like small roundabouts. Otherwise, I don't even think about it 👍
Great looking bike mate , so it’s a pity that those pirates at CFMoto are taking the piss out of warranty complaints with the camshafts , just like their KTM masters. .. so watch your back & get your book stamped.
@@queenslander954 Not aware of any CF MOTO model cams having issues, only the KTM bikes. We have a good importer here in Australia (Mojo Motorcycles) and they have been very approachable in the past with any issues. By the way, KTM isn't CF MOTO's master, the alliance is split 51/49% CF MOTO / KTM. I'll certainly be keeping an eye on my oil and servicing, just the same.
It’s good to see this bike do some single track, it’ll shine on longer journeys with some wide open terrain and some camping gear for overnight stays I reckon.
Awesome mate. Iv ridden kenilworth quite a bit so I can get a good understanding of the difficulty of the trails your riding. Myself and many others are chasing vids like this of the cf moto as we are all super curious of real world capabilities so any more vids like this would be much appreciated man🤙
@@anotherguyonabike4726 Thanks for the message. The bike is great, obviously it's not an Enduro bike and it's heavy in this terrain, but it is quite capable of doing the tracks... With some rider effort. It's a good workout 😁
I unfortunately can predict new inexperienced riders hitting the dirt on the 450 after all the hype and RU-vid videos , and a few finding out the …guys who can ride these heavy ( 195 kg wet😮) are pretty good experienced riders, not learners to trail riding . I feel reviewers should make this transparent , else poor riders are going to go bush drop their new bikes and if riding alone really struggle to pick them up?
Didn't stop anyone from buying fat GSs after Long Way Around came out. More than half of them couldn't pick it up by themselves.

That is also unfair when the majority of these persons were considering a transalp or a T7 in the first place, never a Crf or lighter bikes as they are alooking for all rounders and not mountain goats... Also these new kids don't want to do this. they want to go to the beach on gravel roads.
Iv been biting my tongue watching vid's of these Ibex, and thinkin { actually knowing, Iv done this } how many people are going to be fooled into thinking this a giant enduro bike when they have never even ridden anything difficult offroad before. Obviously DangerMouse has good skills, great vid BTW. 10 years ago I fell for the Hype Bike of that era, the Tiger 800XC and rode it like a dirtbike. Got into some super dangerous solo situations that IF i wasnt a musclehead @ 30 years old, would have been Rescue Mission emergency call. I went small dual sport/enduro after that, back on ADV now but actually have good skills AND the experience to know when to turn around.
@@indranrd9841 It's a totally different style of bike, but great in different ways. The CF MOTO is a lot heavier than the TE449. I'm told they're around 193kg fuelled up, so handling is sluggish in tight terrain, however, it's certainly not horrible. The KYB suspension is good on road, but is a little firm on trail trash and stones. I guess the 200mm of travel needs to be well controlled or it would crash through the stroke all the time. Power is good, CF MOTO claim 44hp and the exhaust has a great note 👍
@@LincolnRandall-vy9nl Hey mate, it was originally a blue bike and I ordered the full black/grey plastics and stickers. I got halfway through the changeover and sat the grey stickers on the white side panel... Looked good to me so I went with it. There's actually some method to my madness, my good mate Chris is getting a grey bike too, so they won't be identical 😁
@@Danger_mouse I did the same with the blue panels but fitted a black DR650 front guard, had to cut the front down a bit as tbh they are a bit of an ugly shape. I also dyed the lovely pink strip on the seat black.
@@EddyOtway Got a Mitas knobby to go on the front, still deciding what to put on the back. The stock tyres are ok on dry dirt if you let them down a bit 👍
@@Danger_mouse I’m gonna go the Golden tyres and see how they go, it’s still pretty wet down here so it’s stopping me from going on the really fun stuff.
Gday mate, my new to me Husky 2010 TE450 stator cover is way smaller than yours. Its almost round, not elongated like yours. Is the procesure still the same ? Should i still check the bolts ? The stator hasnt failed as far as im aware. It has 7500kays on the clock. Just picked it up yesterday. Cheers From Nsw, New England ranges
@@stefanlauster4877 My pleasure. For your information, a lot of parts on your bike can be found on the SWM 500. It was a remade 510 model, basically your bike with a big bore kit. Husky part numbers often cross straight over. Several dealers here in Australia. (They had the same importer as Sherco does here)
@@MrGoat61 Hey there mate, yes they are a bit of workout in the thin snow for sure. A bit better with some more powder 👍 When you think about it, the contact patch of the front 'tyre' is about a metre long and the track is longer. Definitely take some turning, but I found power is your friend!
Thanks for this video! Just recently bought a well used 2011 TE511. Did a precautionary oil change and found some copper flecks in the primary oil strainer. So no more engine running until I check these screws. Lights still work, so I might have just caught it before it did major damage. Thanks again!
I recognise a few of those other riders! A disappointing line up from Sherco, I was expecting a little more.... I have my eye on a new 350 6 days, I feel the dark side calling me back!
Honestly, I think the 350 would be a mistake given the updates to the 300SEF. More power (Sherco claim 6hp), less weight, even better handling, easier service and a fresh new look. I'd definitely have it on my list of 4 stroke bikes to look at. 🙂👍
@Danger_mouse that doesn't mean anything. I can swap cams on my homda for an extra 6hp peak but you give up low down torque which is what sherco have done when they already had poor bottom end.
@@Superdisco199 I beg to differ, have owned two of the 300SEFs previously. I've ridden the 350 Katos before and the Sherco gives away very little in torque, but has a more lively mid and top. They also feel lighter and more nimble to ride, despite being slightly heavier. Both good bikes, I'd choose the Sherco hands down, especially the 25 model which is near enough to all-new if you except the engine was upgraded for 24.
Great Video Dave. Agree with your comments. I believe there will be a huge amount of pent-up demand for the release of the new 2 stroke models "maybe 2026 now". However, as we know the bikes in general speak for themselves in the most part. The popularity of Sherco was able to grow off the back other manufacturers attempts with major changes to the 2 strokes that lets say didn't go to plan. I just really hope there are smart Frenchman's over there ironing out all the possible issues before they are put out to market and release another game changer bike/s. If done right, they may be catapulted right up there with the big end of town.
@@adamsgarioto3815 In defence of Sherco, they lead the market with volume production of EFI 4 stroke bikes and customers stayed away from them... Now Sherco are lagging behind scared of a perceived backlash. This I can understand.
@Danger_mouse I've drawn up a replacement/extension lever. But I haven't fabbed one up yet. One of these days. It doesn't bother me much. Just need to turn it on and off once per ride. Also, some proper cable/hose management can add some extra space in there.
@Danger_mouse I forgot to turn mine off on my yearly trip to Ocotillo Wells. It's a 24hr drive. By the time I got there, the entire lower end was completely full of fuel. I thought the battery was dead because it would barely turn over. Needless to say, it was due for a muffler repack after it finally fired up. It barfed out fuel all over my tent. After that happened, I remembered that Sherco was kind enough to provide us with a plug down there by the crank bearing. That would have been great to remember before pumping a liter or two of fuel out all over all my stuff. Lol
@@MDHaughton Ah, very unlucky 😕 I must have done around 10,000km now with the bike on my towball rack and no issues. Glad you got it sorted 👍 Thanks for checking out the video 👌
Dude I love watching your riding area terrain. The red dirt is beautiful compared to our Canadian dirt. I know that sounds funny but just sayin! Hello from BC Canada! WADZ
Hey there, thanks for stopping by 🙂👍 Yes, I know what you mean. I see some PNW stuff that seems somehow familiar 🙂 Look me up some time if make it to Aus.
They aren't a bad thing, however, it is starting to get more difficult to locate some parts for them. You can still buy service parts pretty easily, but some more important parts that fail can be hard to come by.
going on 56 and about to get back on a dirt bike. Rode dirt bikes back in the 80s and 90s but only street bikes these days. Highlights back in the day were a PE250 and later a YZ490. I rode a mates modern KTM450 and was amazed at how far dirt bikes have developed since the 80s. I wanted to get back on one before I'm to old to do it any more. A couple of mates are keen to do some rides together and I'm looking forward to it.
Hey there, thanks for stopping by. I'm 56 myself and definitely agree. All the modern bikes are able to make the rider look like a star if you are willing to put in a little time and effort getting out there often 👍 Our oldest riding buddy is now 71 and rides 3 times a week 🙂 Enjoy getting back into it. Oh... And check out the Sherco range of bikes if you get the chance, good things 👍
i had the first generation smart carb and i went through several upgrades with it to get it to work right , it was awesome in the end on my 2012 ec300 , the only downside i had was if you forgot to turn the fuel tap off or it was on its side it would flood the engine .
Certainly a good carb, no question. Better in some areas than the Keihin, but the Keihin is better in others. Neither are as good as a correctly calibrated EFI system for every day use 👍
Hey me again lol just wondering what coolant you use for your bike ive decided to strip my bike down clean and flush it all (thanks to alot of your videos it was easy as) ive got all the other fluids i need just not to sure about the coolant thanks
Any good quality Ethylene Glycol auto coolant is fine. I use Nissan coolant in all my vehicles, cars, 4wds and the bikes. Saves having multiple brands lying around. 'Bike coolant' is car coolant in a smaller bottle.
