Automotive breaks are the same way with the self adjusting star wheel but only when you back up and hit the breaks. They don't work on the truck either. I like the club car break adjustment when you get one in and have the time it would be good to share how those work since it's kind of different. I think the camera has a real clear pic and audio is good. When you had the camera hooked to the gas can and meved the can the camera bounced arong when the gas was sloshing. Think you do a great job and very helpfull cus you show step by step what you need to do and where things are a pain to get to. I'm 60 and I still learn from guys like you. Tnks
Kevin....here again with the 90% ........air pressure at 20 but under is okay....battery service cleaned the battery post and the inside of the terminal but left rust all over the bolts.....Again watch all of your videos
Even though this is n7 years old I have watched all of your Yamaha videos. Always love your colorful language at times and sorry it seem you generally do a 90% job on whatever you show....This gas tank as a sample thereof.......will continue to watch as you do know a great deal about these Yamaha carts........
The fact that you verified the corrosion issue with the cable connectors, it means that the battery was more than likely undercharged. You checked charging voltage and it was ok. Before you performed a load test on the battery, it should've been charged. That's the reason the tester rendered the battery bad. It was undercharged due to the corrosion at the cable connectors. You could've verified the condition of the battery by cranking the engine for 15 - 30 seconds with the coil disconnect and checked the cranking voltage. Minimum cranking voltage is 9.6 vts.
Is there a reason you put the 6 bolts/nuts that hold the engine in last instead of putting them in first as a reverse of the removal procedure? Just wondering?
Ok you made it clear you don’t like the electric brake but can’t you flip the two switch under the seat and out key in neutral and it will roll? But once they go you replace like drum brake and then it’s good for a few years ?just saying
No. This brake failed completely. Tow mode with key in neutral did not allow the cart to roll. The brake would not release at all. Drum brakes last 20+ years. This brake is just stupid.
This is awesome. I have replaced my generator/starter two years ago and my starter solenoid on my 2000 club car ds. There is a plastic panel above the generator that I discovered that can come off to better access the generator.
Ok so I really think your video is great!!! I don’t want to make this sound negative at all but I have a couple of tips I do for my customers. I have/had a fleet of 80 ezgo txt 97/98 carts that I’ve “refurbished” and sold most all of them and also continue to rebuild and tune up ezgo carts. Anyway I’m really anal about working around the engine and carb or the wiring. So. The very first thing I do with a cart of mine or custome is to power wash the entire engine compartment before I even start. No I’ve never had water in carb or wiring issues from power washing. Next thing I do is brake cleaner all over the outside of carb and engine. Then a bit of carb cleaner around the carb area before I loosen a single screw or bolt You mentioned and I agree that it is not worth spending 15 mins cleaning a carb. Amazon has $19 carbs with new plugs filters etc etc. I buy carbs by the case. I would never pay my helpers to touch a carb. At $60 an hour. Chinese carbs are disposal and last about 15 years $19 carb, compression test around 150lbs. Spark plug sand blaster cleaning with carb cleaner for the Plug get sand out. Very seldom buy new plugs as long as blaster gets all carbon off. Sometimes I razor blade the carbon. 17:42 Have never bought a new air filter. Air compressor but make sure to blow the correct direction. (Unless oil or liquid such as gas that built up) Compression valve adjustment at about 4000. Sorry long story and everything on your video is spot on. Not sure about GoPro I know nothing about them. lol. Thanks for the video. Although I may loose some customers if they see it. 😂
Your video was very helpful. I like when people just talk about what they are doing period, and not stream of consciousness talk just filling in gaps. So I'd say, just tell us what you are doing and leave silent gaps, they are okay.
@@Kevinsgolfcarts Yup, because of my experience with small engines non-ethanol gas is all that goes into all of my small engines. I opened up a lot of carbs with that jelly in them. What bunch of sh_t when the feds shoved ethanol down our throats. If you use a lot of gas on a daily basis I guess it is ok but if it sits for just a few weeks it attracts water and it starts jelling. Terrible fuel.
Great video, thank you. For a G-16 clutch, how often do you need to add grease to the grease fitting? Are there other zerks that need grease on an annual or bi-annual basis? Thank you.
About to take on the seat being restored on a friend's club car, it's in absolutely abysmal shape currently, just followed your videos on how to repair an maintain these, so far I followed along correctly, thank you.
I see you have a crack starting in the breather hose like most of em. Mine cracked on both ends, threw em in the garbage & put on 3/8 fuel line & Z-ties.
My Yamaha g1 starts fast cold then when it’s warm it will be slow to start and runs bad and stalls. When it starts it takes a few seconds to get speed going again etc. Anyone know what I can do to fix this issue? Hope this makes sense. Also it has a new carb
Iam getting ready to install one of these, iam thinking on using a home made gasket in between the mating surface for a better seal......whatcha think?
With all your complaining about the ezgo cart ,you don't have to pull the motor or drill holes or even remove the filter to get to the coil, ezgo made the cover plastic ,so it bends ,all you have to do is take off carb ,undo the cover bolts at the top remove the large carb linkage cover bolt ,bend the cover back ,and now you have plenty of room to get to coil. Any mechanic knows that you install the coil over the magnet . And you did not think you installed the coil over the magnet ,as you stated you wanted the magnet away from the coil . But at least you admitted you made a mistake , a little tip for you ... Maybe think before you speak or complain ,it may make you look like an actual mechanic. .
Kevin, it's good to connect with you again as when my computer crashed I lost all my u-tube subscriptions. I was wondering if you could help me out with this problem with my 97 club car ds. The only thing I did with the motor was to change oil and filter and after driving for about 20 games the oil light came on and it was down to the add mark. The oil is pooling up on the side of filler tube so with your knowledge of these engines where could the oil be leaking on that side of engine. I go for back surgery tomorrow so golfing is out of picture but I should be able to work on cart for short periods of time. thank in advance
The crankcase gasket has failed around the cylinder and needs to be replaced. This involves removing the engine, pulling the drive clutch and removing the crankcase cover.
So I have a 1990 ezgo marathon I bought that sat out in a field for years. I got it to fire if I put fuel in the cylinder but it won’t pull anything from the carb. I cleaned the carb out and filled it up manually but my question is, do I need a fuel pump hooked up? Shouldn’t it still pull fuel out of the carb through the vacuum?
I know I am way late to the party but I spent a lot of time maintaining industrial batteries. That battery is dirty. Dirt will conduct electricity and discharge the battery. Wipe the battery off with some demin water! It will help and make it look a lot better.
Been watching lots of your videos. I recently just purchased a 1996 Yamaha G14. Sat for 8 years but running when was parked. I drained the fuel, installed new fuel lines, fuel filter, fuel pump, spark plug, and cleaned the carb. I have the air filter out and it’s turning over but won’t start. spark plug shows spark and fuel lines are clear so i can see it’s feeding fuel to the carb. any idea what this could be? thanks
Check compression to make sure a valve or lifter isn't stuck. If its below 90psi, pop the valve cover off and make sure the valves are moving freely. If so and If you can do so safely, try to squirt some gas into the carb throat with the air filter off and see if it pops off. If it tries to run, then the carb is internally blocked and needs to be replaced. Its very difficult to completely clean these small carbs when they sit too long. You can always try to soak it in clean gas overnight and see if it frees up. As long as you have air, fuel, spark and compression, it should pop off.
Kevin, I had the engine rebuilt on my 2002 EZ-GO TXT and the engine is like new. No issues there. Also has a new OEM carb. Problem is when accelerating, it is extremely sluggish under load. When it’s on jack stands the engine revs beautifully but as soon as it’s on the ground under load it bogs down. Seems like a drive train issue. Any thoughts on what I could try? Clutch maybe? Tom
I have a few suggestions as far as reducing battery cost, and getting better quality battery terminals. We use a supply house in my area that uses FVP batteries and they are made by the same supplier as the Exide you are using, with an account they are about 60$. Napa has a ton of battery terminal selection, for how you use them there is a marine style (wingnut style) or military style that would be super convenient
Not a fan of the wing nut style terminals. I have a supplier that I get my batteries from and I get the best price in my area. I prefer to stick with battery brands that I trust. Thanks for the suggestion, though.
