Thought about The Rebels because I found my dad's Rebel's roadcrew pass from 88', interesting finally hearing them after having these guys come by the house for parties and what not after all those years when my parents were with us.
I'm 45. My father Donnie Mackie managed The Rebels and produced their albums under his own, Black Label Records. I grew up listening to them and went to every show my parents were legally allowed to bring me to. They also released a Children's Album.
I've been knowing Cedric for a long time , He gave me records when they would come out so I could play them at the different places I Dee Jayed at ....
I know I've missed alot of really astounding music..been playing catch up ever since 1967 😂 but this band i somehow missed till now. 3 for a Dollar, my god man I'd pay 300. to see these guys live... mabe 10$ back in the day !!! I love country rock beginning with Sweethearts of The Rodeo and continuing to NRPS and Garcia ❤❤
JJ Cale, did NOT write this version of “Mona”; it was written by Bo Diddley aka Ellas Otha Bates. JJ Cale, wrote a very different song called “Mona”. I see this a lot and it confuses people. Other than that; this is very cool.
I just found an unopened copy of this record in a collection that was given to me. I looked it up on Discogs and it has sold for as much as $200 in the past few years. I have never heard of this band, but I like what I hear in this video. Now... do I open the sealed record or sell it? lol
This made my heart beat faster. Brethern opened for Steve Winwood (Blind Faith?) in the early 70s. They blew me away. I still hear several of their songs in my head and remember all the words in my head after more than 50 years.
Wow its been years since i heard this song. Is Debby the songwriter? I always thought that nancy brennen en rebecca whats her name were the songwriters. What a great song and i love this version with the Ramblers
Southpaw got very rude with our band when we were having a serious issue with our PA system at a show we were headlining in 97 and couldn`t let them use our system. We didn`t know how much longer our equipment would even function and didn`t expect it to last through our own show. We were called liars. They were also angry because they didn`t get to headline the show. LOL! Just WOW! We finally discovered several days later and hundreds of miles away at our next show in Jackson Mississippi that the problem was a broken wire in one of the 18 inch speakers that kept breaking connection causing tremendous popping sounds. Simple soldering fix.
i was blown away also the first time i listened to it. being from louisiana also it was a special album for me. i have a few other louisiana artist recorded that you might like. look at my videos
Is there any chance we could listen to the full album? I'm only able to find this song and 刹那. Brilliant band, their sound is just flawless and they deserve to be more known.
This brings back such wonderful memories for me, when Mike used to come to Wichita Falls in the late 70s and play at the Midwestern State University student center, where my future ex-husband was the entertainment guy (thanks for finding this, Dale!) And Nanci Griffith's background vocals are just the icing on the cake! RIP Nanci. Any chance anyone has a recording of Mike's song about a man talking to his little sister's future husband? I can't remember its exact name, but it was so beautiful and has a special meaning for me. I haven't heard it for 0ver 40 years, except in my memory. Thanks, chrisco kid, for this!
