Obviously you're entitled to your own opinions and there may even be some truth to what you're saying. But I'm curious given your username and obvious bias, why are you even watching this then?
Love seeing this engine being swapped in!!! I just dropped a (N55 in my e46, it’s on a MHD stage 2+) now with a PURE 500. Super fun car to drive. 💯 Have a install video on my page ✨
Let me know if you need the dme ISN updated and operating reset to factory code it with full vin match as well. Also you are going to want to change the type code in the fem and code accordingly. I would probably recommend doing a EU F31 335i
Hello sir I buy 2013 x3 146000 $3100 Canadian I like it but oil pump chain snap I got this price and crank stuck im planning to rebuild but you think crank should be ok I drop oil pump now going to drop engine
Nice!!! I’m currently in Florida doing the same project as well. I got a n55 off of a M2 so I have the best of both worlds sharing parts from a s55 and n55. Did a complete engine rebuild . Also gonna do a m3 f81 body kit that I’m designing. Gonna be fun to see this build!
Wow that’s awesome! I went this way because I want to keep AWD. I also don’t do any body work so that’s going to stay the same. You should post some videos of that when you start putting it together, sounds like it’ll be a really cool build. Good luck!
Hello Dr, just wondering, if you are supposed to push down the rod when getting the other bearing out, did you have any issues or nervous moments when doing so on the first cylinder? Obviously the chain is still connected and in place, so it should rotate all in time and with no problems, but did that work out fine? Just curious because I plan on building an N55/S55 application at one point.
Yeah it was no problem. You should check out the video from FCP Euro on N55 rod bearings, they show the section of the first bearing and oil pump more in depth.
this is going to be interesting,, for me the most important part would be how to resolve the dme to cas and key so that the car stars because you can not used the same dme as far as i know , locking forward for you next vid and good luck buddy
Thank you my friend! Yes, that’s the part that’s going to give me the most trouble. I’ve got a lot of cool videos coming with EEPROM programming and explaining how all the modules work together.
Good to see the Doctor revealed, been watching you since first N63 video where i got hooked, this one is an interesting project as well, i hope you get a v10 M6 or M5 on the channel in the near future, that would be great content
Not to nit pick, but theoretically the diverter valve is more highly stressed on an n55 than on an n63. The amount of displacement serviced is 3 liters vs 2.2 on the n63. Both run the same boost pressure stock.
Hey g I’m doing this swap rn in Edmonton Alberta and to do so match everything take ur dme (original) and new dme to a guy he can copy isn plus info and flash it to ur new dme n55 one with modification to engine type and stuff like that should be reactively easy maybe some vo coding on esys
Thanks! Yes, I will actually be doing a bunch of eeprom programming myself instead of sending it out, so there’s going to be some cool videos coming soon. Good luck on the project!
I've looked into swapping my 428xi gran coupe with 435/335 powertrain. My 428i is a very clean, low mileage (65k km), well spec-ed, and rust free (impressive for a quebec car that is 10 years old), so it could be worthwhile to have the clean chassis of my current vehicle with the nicer power train of the N55 variant. However, after reverse looking parts I realized you also have to transfer over the transmission, drive shaft, CV Shaft, front shock etc.. to maintain the original handling and performance of the 435/335. Essentially the only things that are identical on both platforms is the chassis, interior, rear suspension, and the front differential and suspension minus the front shocks. Being a mechanic specialized in diagnostics by trade, it would be doable, but it was just too much work between my regular job and my mobile diagnostician business. All of this to say I'm very much looking forward to this project! And if you need help I'm also located in Quebec, and I have specialized diagnostics tools which could come handy. I have been following you for a bit and I really like your content, keep up the good work!
It depends on the configuration because there are so many. Since this car is an M Sport, the driveshaft, differential, cv axles and all kinds of other parts are actually the same. I will go into it in some of the later videos but there’s obviously a lot of research to do to get everything right. Glad you like the videos, thanks for your support!
Great video! Glad to see you put your face on camera! Can't wait to watch more videos. You may need to reach out to Sreten from M539 Restorations and do a project together!
It's just the usual N55 6th cyl stuck plug, sometimes you have to careful when servicing. I usually throw down oil and let it soak a bit before removing. Can't remember the exact reasoning but it's not uncommon
Yes, it does matter. I don’t remember off the top of my head, but you’ll see the seals are different sizes. The intake valves have a thinner stem than the exhaust valves, so just match the thinner diameter seal to the thinner valve. Good luck!
Yes, I always change them because it’s such a hassle to get to them after the fact. Removing the turbos to replace the lines after the fact is a good couple of hours of work.
Please I need your help N20 engine in 328i xdrive Just stop without any warning sign And refuse to turn even with a tool I open it and saw that the metal bearings on the connecting rod gum on the crankshaft I changed it and the engine does the same thing
Yeah, that’s exactly what happens because when you’re on the throttle, the wastegate is closed so it won’t rattle, but off throttle it’s open so the flap is rattling
