Great driving. I have an 05 on summer tires that have seen about 5 track days on them and just installed a set of ohlins dfv that I was breaking in at VIR earlier this week. I was consistently running 2.22s, so it's great to see how quick a properly set up s2k is at this track. Mine is just a weekend car and sees a few track days each year, but I do think a hard top and aero would go a long way....with stickier tires too.
It's been fantastic. One of the most rewarding cars on track. It pushes you to drive with no mistakes as you don't have hp to fix any lack of commitment in corners.
@@ScottSchubel I haven't heard of too many mechanical issues with the S2000's, so it shouldn't be too costly to run for a season. That's cool, man, I can't wait to see more track days.
Did the same except added the FB tips - Gundo is great - awesome how the sound stays fairly subdued for neighborhood at low rpm until you step on it - then the baritone kicks in and really howls @3500+rpm
Definitely a top end gain but not 30 hp worth. It's also worth noting any low end torque loss due to the removal of the cats. A tune would definitely help both areas
Hard to ever get bored with a 911! I never had an issue with the car it ran very strong. I found myself learning more with lower horsepower and lower weight so I've been really enjoying the AP1 as a dedicated track car
@@ScottSchubel Ah ok. I've been looking around for a fun dedicated track car and have been zeroing in on a e46 M3 or the 911 Carrera. I currently have a C63 AMG but it's much better suited for the autobahn haha
I'm running a different final drive vs stock, so my speedometer is a good 4-5 mph low vs what I'm actually doing. This lap I was 117 into turn 17 per GPS data. My issue is weight, the car was 2,900 pounds in this video including me in the car and I'm on s stock engine tune. A high apex speed in turn 16 going onto the back straight helps mask the power deficiency but I could definitely use less weight and more top end grunt to get the car over 120-122 before braking
What I hate most about this track is you're up .3 on sector 1 and lose it all in sector 2, or you're down .4 in sector 1 & 2 then gain it all back in sector 3. It's really frustrating and difficult to put together a really good lap.
I did a 2:35.2 with Koni Yellows on CR springs. 2002 AP1 with AP2 engine and trans. All my mods were repairs pretty much. I also have hardrace compliance bushings and end links. I did it on Federal RSR-RR tires. I think I can get it in the 34's with more seat time. Only have 10 laps so far, sim laps helped a lot, as I pretty much was on the pace (consistent 35's) on lap 3.
I’ve always disliked the 996 generation but I’ve grown to love this generation now. Something about this car is so raw and so beautiful. I personally have a 997.1 turbo manual and love that car but this 996 is just so good! Love your car man.
