An avid colourist since buying my first Johanna Basford book some years ago. I am a big fan of her work, and I'm slowly building on my collection of her books. I hope to bring you a calming and relaxing colouring experience, and will share both long and short videos exploring some different techniques, and learning as I go. You can colour along if you want, or just watch, as I share my colourful adventures with you all.
i have this set and haven't found a way to really use them yet so looking forward to learning! because i live in a very dry desert climate, i packaged my markers in a large size plastic baggie, fitting the whole thing back inside the black carry bag. trying to prevent any premature drying.
First time using colored pencil and first time coloring in enchanted forest. I just so happened to buy a 12 piece faber-Castell tin on sale, and it’s absolutely beautiful. Thank you for this inspiration video, I’ve unlocked a new creative side to myself.
Aww, thank you so much. It’s lovely to hear I’ve been missed. I’ve just had a bit of a break, as I’ve had so many other things on my plate, but I will be back ❤️❤️
The only thing I wish you’d say the colors when you change so I could just keep going with you, other than that this is perfect. I love the music and you already know your coloring is perfect 🤩
Really loving these videos. I have the Caron D'Ache Pablos instead of the polychromos but I just love your techniques and can just follow along with the colors I have. Thanks for doing them in real time. I find these calming to watch even when I don't have my books and colors with me.
That’s a good question. They are both good pencils for their price point. I’m probably favour the Ergo Softs a bit more. They have beautiful colours, and are lovely to lay down.
I prefer real time. I select a video and work on color pencil portraits while listening to you and the music. It keeps me grounded. I also use your techniques in my work and my coloring books. I love what you do and appreciate your sharing for all to see.
Thank you so much for your feedback. I’m so happy to hear the videos help you feel grounded, I really appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment. 🩷🩷🩷
Great tutorial , but unfortunately I don't have those pictures in my book . I have the German version , may be it's different . Anyway , it's helpful to watch , thank you 😊😊Petra
This was a free download she made for the release of the book. While you won’t find the exact same pictures, there are several similar ones in there. Not sure if the download is still available on her website. Thanks so much for watching ❤️
what does the back page of the book look like after you've colored with the ohuhu? because I already have these markers and I love them, and I want to color this book but I saw that each page, front/back, has designs on it. I wanted to see if the color would go from page to page, not allowing me to color it all.
Because they are alcohol markers they will go completely through the page. I copied this page onto the paper I got from Ohuhu, so that I could safely use the markers, and even with marker paper it goes through. So I would only use them on pages that are single sided, or just do what I did and get marker paper to copy onto.
I just took several hours, organizing in color order, swatching, and put them in a binder. They come in a strange order. Getting ready to try them out.❤
Thank you so much for this wonderful color along. I love the hat of the mushroom as it really looks 3D thanks to your shading and use of Posca. I have already followed your color along of the witch which also looks great. By the way, I'm writing from Germany. Isn't it beautiful how coloring is connecting people all over the world?😃
I love your style so much and am so grateful for all thehelpand inspiration you have given me with your vIdeos! Oh and perfect song! Never heard that befpre!
Spent lots of time choosing a tutorial that I could enjoy as a newbie. ( I have not touched colored pencils in 55 years!) Just started and completed this , this AM and I loved the results. I could follow along with no problems. Thank you very much for sharing your talent .
Thank you so much for taking the time to answer. I really appreciate the feedback. Realtime videos will always be my focus, so if I ever do end up posting a timelapse, it would be in addition to a realtime video of the same page 😃
I really enjoy colouring with you through these videos. Thank you very much to share your talent. I also practise my English which is very good. I love your langage... If you want I will send you a photo of my réalisation. I am quiet pleased with the result. Corinne
@@MaritsColourfulAdventures Well I love colouring and I enjoy to built an illustration on colours... Thank's to share your talent. Corinne have a very good day
O Thank you so much to explain burnishing and blending. I asked you the question of the difference and you answered but listening to you, I understand much better. Corinne. Is it undiscret to ask how do you know about colouring so well ?
I’m so glad to hear it made sense when explaining. The secret to get better at colouring is just lots of practice. As we all eventually develop our own style, watching tutorials by lots of different people will teach you lots of different ways to approach colouring. Then you pick bits and pieces you like from each person, and practice again and again. You will learn so much, and you’ll be able to look back at your earlier work and see how far you come 🩷🩷🩷
@@MaritsColourfulAdventuresyes exactement. C'est ce que je fais je regarde beaucoup de tutoriels de différentes personnes, et je colorie beaucoup sur différents papiers et différentes illustrations.
@@MaritsColourfulAdventures Please, can you help me get over my fears to start this book ? I would be so grateful. Not much people do colour in them with Polychromos. these are by far my most favourite pencils. thank you in advance ! many regards from the tiny country Belgium. I adore your work.
Hi, i think with the speed videos its hard to see the process. As I progress with my colouring, its very helpfull to see the layering in real time, I really learn a lot, so thank you ❤
I definitely get that, and I really appreciate your feedback. If I do them at all, it would be in addition to a realtime video of the same page. I’m thinking I might do it if I’ve had a page we’ve done in a few parts, so that there’s a timelapse version.
This looks very nice, I wanted to ask you when you said “print” you meant that you made a copy from Johanna Bassford book page that you wanted to color on the page that you took out from Ohuhu ‘s marker pad? I think so,because you don’t want to color with alcohol markers directly in the book. Thank you😊
Yes, exactly. I knew they would bleed through the paper, so didn’t want to ruin the page on the back. The Ohuhu paper worked really well, and it was nice and smooth to colour on so I’ll definitely do that again.
@@MaritsColourfulAdventures Thank you Marit, yes I thought so. I just wasn’t sure when you said “print” you actually meant”copy”. Judging by your beautiful English, I suppose you are in UK, so maybe there they use print instead of copy. Thank you 😊
Yes, I totally meant copy (I’m so used to printing pages from Etsy). I’m in Australia, but English is actually my second language, as I’m originally from Norway 😄
Your page looks gorgeous. I had coloured this page but was not happy with the results. While watching your video I ordered a second copy and plan on colouring along with you. Thank you for your insightful tips and explanations while you colour. I’m very excited to colour this page again with your help.
The colorless blender is used more to "push' color. I don't find it really blends like colored pencil blenders. I find using a lighter colored marker helps blend the darker colors. In my personal opinion I do better using alcohol markers when I remember the colors push each other, rather than blend (like watercolor or pencils). I hope that makes sense. With your talent Marit, I'm sure you will be pro level in no time! I actually prefer using the markers to lay down a base color, then use colored pencils to add details. The markers are so fast and easy and it saves stress on my hands.
Aww! Thank you so much, and I really appreciate your tips. I’m so looking forward to learning more about these markers, and I’m getting so many wonderful suggestions in the comments ❤️ Thank you so much for watching 🥰
Thank you for this video🩷. You make beautiful videos and I love the music. It is very relaxing. I didn’t know they made pens. And I didn’t know there was a sheet protector for the page. I have an old set of Ohuhu markers and looked in the bag and found it!😀 All this time it was there. I find the colourless blender works best when the ink is still wet on the paper. I use it immediately before I colour another section of the picture. The cupcakes look beautiful. I have watched many RU-vid colour along videos where colorists use markers and pencils. They use the markers as a base only with one colour. Watching you use several colours , blend them and shade and then do the same with pencils afterwards was incredibly amazing. Again thank you for this lovely video.
Thank you SO much for your tips!! It’s always strange getting to know a new medium, and this helps a lot 😃 And how awesome you found the protection sheet after all these years, glad I could be of help 😄😄Thank you so much for watching ❤️❤️
Wow, what a selection. You are soooo lucky. I have the black pens, and I love them. I still have my original promarkers, so can't justify buying these beauties.
Yes, I definitely feel incredibly blessed to have been gifted this beautiful art set. I was gaping when I opened the box. I’m really looking forward to trying the fine liners. Maybe I need to do some more in How To Draw Inky Wonderlands.
Loved the demo- very helpful. Wish you would examine/use/explain white pens. Don’t know about this brand. I have bought at least 5 different ones(Brisk- set of 5 latest). They all are difficult to use on small spaces as you did on raspberry this demo. You made it look easy with flow. I shake, roll, dip in water etc etc yet still not easy and often ruin the image with too much ink or a hole. Sorry for being so long winded! Thanks for you, your work, advice, soothing voice, and exhilarating music choices. Kay
My favourite ones to use are the Sakura Gelly Rolls. I find they stick to the paper well, and I can colour over them gently when they have dried. The only one that have dried up is the finest 05 one, but that was because I forgot to recap it, and didn’t realise for over a week.
I think that first plastic sheet you found on the marker pouch was actually for you to mix marker colors if you like to do that to create another color.
Thank you for the suggestion and for watching 😊 it actually had text written on it where it said it was for putting under your page to prevent bleed through.
It was definitely a fair suggestion, and I have used acetate to mix Inktense pencils before, so I see your point. This sheet did have a very slight texture on it as well so not sure if that would hinder blending at all? 🤔 So much to learn with new mediums.
I'm so glad to follow you with my new derwent drawing they are so nice to colour with and I like very much their colours. Thank's to you to do one page with these pencils. I enjoy your vidéos. Corinne
