Mostly about the family metal recycling businees, sixth generation and on the same site since 1876. Recycling machinery and trucks in action in our well organised yard. we carry massive stocks of foundry grade cast iron but our bread and butter is steel and non ferrous. We have just installed a Copex S-Wing 1000 tonne shear, a heavy duty version of the usual S-Wing, weighing almost 200 tonnes and this will fetaure a lot in future videos. I'm also a wildlife photographer so I might upset the machinery addicts with occasional wildlife videos.
Having been born into the scrap yard environment may I just say how surgical your yard is and I’ve seen a lot of scrap yards in my 50 years… If you’re not a promotional example of how a business is meant to be run in this sector BY the environment agency then there’s something wrong 100% kudos for what is clearly your passion on how things should be done ❤
This is a question I’ve answered repeatedly, it’s stock, we add to and load off the brake disc pile continually. Perhaps I’d rather have the money invested in stock than in a bank. Up until recently, since the financial crash in 2007/2008 money in the bank made nothing, in stock I had the chance to make something. I also like having the piles of scrap so no other reason needed really 👍
that's quite a bit of kit will you do a tour around the shear and in the box ive worked on lefort ,taurus and those Bulgarian ones but never seen around a copex
Greetings from central west coast Florida!! Fantastic video, never seen anything like a forklift get pulverized to smaller pieces by a large heavy weight ball! Excellent informative fun video to watch! Thanks for sharing, as always looking very forward to your next video!!
how long is the cutting blade? 1200mm? usually we produce 1000ton with about 1400-2000mm depand customers' application. In EU market, the producer like small cutting blade. Usually the production rate of our machien is better than EU's. another question, why did you change the excavator to be powered by both electric and diesel. by this way, usually each year can save USD30000-50000 each unit in China.
The blade is 800mm, this is a shear baler, if the blade was a lot wider the bales would be too big. A 1000 tonne ram can exert more cutting force across a shorter blade than a longer blade. You are mistaken about diesel electric, all of our machines are diesel, except the small non ferrous baler and shear which are 100% electric. The Copex suits our particular needs.
@@markschofield9494 Thank you for your reply. When we design the shear, we will consider the cutting force with longer blade, it means that our cylinder will be bigger, and give more pressure from oil pump. For the excavator with steel grabbing machine. I type wrong words. My question shoulde be: why dont you change the excavator to be powered by both electric and diesel. usually in China, the almost 100% owners will change the excavator by both electric and diesel. 90% working time is powered by eletric, it save much more cost than by diesel. later I will send video to show it.
OK, I understand, we don’t want the complexity of hybrid diesel/electric, only the large companies are making the change in the UK. Maybe in the future but for now diesel is the way. We don’t run our machines intensively so our fuel consumption isn’t high, the extra expense of the machine wouldn’t be paid for in fuel savings.
we have bigger and stronger Gantry Guillotine Scrap Metal Shear with 2500ton cutting pressure. frankly in China, 1000ton is small one. each year we sold more than 100 units 1000ton scrap metal shear to China local market.
Great video, do you not have drain holes in your lugger bins? That one that dumped a load I'm sure half the weight of the load was water. The bins where I am have drain holes but they can also get plugged up with debris. Or do you just deduct weight accordingly? 👍👍🍁
Yeah, most of them have holes but not all. We had some new skips and the holes are in the corners but there's an internal corner gusset and the hole only goes into the cavity 😏😄There are others were we are going to get around to it....one day, also some customers don't like the holes because their own oil etc leaks in to their yard instead of getting tipped in mine-but yes, we make a knock for fluid.
@@markschofield9494 I know what you mean. 😂🤣Some of the Engineering shops here have a pan with a couple inch elevated deck inside the pan that the bin sits inside of. So when the turnings get dumped in, the oil drains into the pan and remains their problem, not the scrap yards problem. 🤔 They should all do it if they use oils, in my opinion anyway. 👍🍁
When I first started to watching your channel I seen that big ball there and I couldn't never figure out what it was for till one day I seen one of your operators pick it up and drop it and then I think somewhere on your channel they said it was five tons. That's quite the piece. 👍👍🙂🇨🇦
Personally, imho, I think seeing things from the real operator´s position (inside the cab or which ever machine) is more real than from the outside. Clearly there is a difference in perspective, the protection of the cage (not sure what the actual term is for the grill over the window is.) looking through that, vs and outside view. I think it looks easier from the outside, however, though from the inside, not at all easy! Mark, any time you want to trade phones, just let me know. I would be delighted to swap you for my old android :) Thanks for the videos!
Read the explanation under the video, it's my £1400 phone, I have no intention of putting it on the outside of the cab, a cab which is elevated 5 metres above concrete-PLUS I need to be able to answer my phone and make calls to my daughters in the weighbridge office-that's part of my job, making videos is something that is non essential that I squeeze in where I can
No one sits and reads the description, and you can see when they call you, because the phone screen is inward, there's phone support. That's how you can see only the glass, the grace and a bit of an arm on the excavator...
Stunning machines my first crane was a 3 wheeler proclain TY 45 with Magnet 🧲 gear loved it to bits Beets handballing happy days Lt Iron £3.00 a tonne still enjoyed it 👍👍 .Scrappymark ( Manchester ) .
Someone observed that the videos would be better filmed from outside of the cab, avoiding the safety screen that spoils the view. Unfortunately, seeing as I use my phone and my phone is a 1TB IPhone costing around £1400 that I actually bought rather than have through a price plan, I don’t intend hanging it on the outside with the cab 15 foot high over concrete. Also, I need to be able to use my phone when I’m operating the Sennebogen so it obviously needs to be on the inside with me
0:20 Always funny with digital video, when you get the framerate to match up with something and it looks like the tire isn't even turning, just gliding along the ground.
I load the steel out every day, all grades, as soon as there is a load for one of our wagons or a 44 tonner for Liverpool it's gone. I have one at 7.00am tomorrow (saturday) to load for Liverpool. Some material is only in the yard for a couple of hours.
Mark [mr Huddersfield], thank you for the video. Have a good weekend, greetings from the Netherlands 😊 Great to see a video from your wel maintained company.👌
Always a pleasure to see the Foden about, proper working vintage! Question about your massive stockpile of broken cast iron - What do you plan to do with it all? Must've been keeping it for a long time?

Mark, great video! In the beginning, you were moving some black, dirt or coal like substance, what was that? It´s amazing how you keep your equipment in such top form, not even a speck of dust! The was the Copex cut that at the end, it was like it was cutting through foam. Amazing, the power... opps rambling on there some. As far as the old equipment, it goes to show, take care of your gear and it will last so much longer. Thanks for the video, totally enjoyed it!
Hi Paula, the black stuff is tarmac thats been planed or ground off the road, it's called road planings and is used instead of crushed stone, we always have some on stock.
I've lived here my whole life so I know exactly when the piles started, it is decades, although I add and take away from them on a daily basis, mostly from the same point though so parts of the pile never really change that much.
Hi mr. Scofield, thx for the video. The weather is great for writing books like The Hound of the Baskervilles en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hound_of_the_Baskervilles Have a nice weekend, greetings from the Netherlands 😊
Wow. Showing us part of a work day from the operator's point of view was a great idea for a video. And the tour of your grounds was excellent as well. Fantastic informative video, Thanks for sharing!
