Hi! Welcome to my channel! I have been a railroad enthusiast since my childhood and am still very interested in trains to this day, some 5 plus decades later. I will be posting rail videos from around the country and from my home area in Southern Ohio. I primarily railfan by myself, but at least a few times a year I get out with my old friend Jaw Tooth, and then there is no telling where we will end up on those trips! You may also see an occasional video that is not rail related. I like to film video from inside airplanes when we take off and land when I travel for work. Where did "1960gambit" come from? Well, that was a name I picked out years ago. It`s a combination of an old house number and my all time favorite Marvel X-Man, the Cajun card thrower Gambit. That was fabulous train meet, my friend! 2 very long mixed manifests that had mid-train power. The northbound manifest had one DPU while the second had 2 DPUs! Just magnificent, Scott. You should pat your self on the back for catching that meet! Thank you immensely, Scott. 😃😃😃😃😃❤❤❤❤❤

nine ,I counted 9 fedex containers , yes even up on the second floor containers & auto racks were taller , and you are what 6 foot , dinner & a show , very nice
Now that was an awesomely great video, Scott. Sorry for not being on much , been busy, and also those folks digging up my street in front of my house last week and Monday finally got the digging done. they went 20 feet below the surface to replace a sewer pipe. Most of the heavy equipment is gone, a couple baby CAT backhoes on tracks are still in my front yard. Next phase is putting down Asphalt either end of this week or next week. We could not leave the house for 7 days until last night. My wife got to go to Drug store and pick up my meds Tuesday around noon. And go to grocery store. They ended up tearing up about 200 yards of my street. Redug the ditches. Then it rained about an inch Sunday evening, so Monday they had to ship in more gravel and put it down, then ran a rollers over it and the vibration was terrible, felt like an earthquake under my feet. Getting back to your videos, I gave up trying to get caught watching everybody videos, and just looked at the recent ones. Good made video, mr 1960gambit. That was a busy evening in Glendale with trains. When you filmed a train and the train is gone see people walking over tracks with a double tracks is that dangerous: a other train can come. Whe have that lost thursday here in Zandvoort. 1 passenger 🚆 leaving the station Zandvoort a other passenger🚆 entering the station. One person go under the beam and see the train and go back. Thanks Roelof. Yes, dinner was great! I have seen so many people just run across the tracks before the gates go up. You are right, a train could be coming on the other track that you can`t see and then it`s all over in an instant. You have to be smart around railroad tracks, no doubt about it!
yeah Scott that was 28 she had amazon boxes on her 26 never carries amazon or fedex boxes!! that blackish grey paint in covered hoppers has gotten popular here of late! you had about 5 and i saw another dozen of those in the last 4 days!! filming wise perfect meet!!
I thought it was 28. I can only tell them apart by their length because 26 is usually a lot shorter than 28. I have noticed more black hoppers myself lately too.
@@1960gambit yeah 28 has amazon and fedex on her at least one of them or sometimes both but always one of them ,i haven't seen those on 26 unless 26 just started hauling them of late.

You caught us a fabulous mixed manifest with a mid-train DPU that was 183+/- cars long! It had one TLX box car that was untagged. Quite the rarity! Another great catch, Scott! 😄😄😄😄❤❤❤❤
Nice one Scott. I think I counted 203, + or - one or two, cars on the train that stopped but at least you got a conductor wave, so that was pretty cool.
I've been watching railfan videos for over 7 years now. I started with Jaw Tooth videos, and watched him almost exclusively until he introduced your channel when you were fist starting, Scott. I DID watch Jason Asselin now and then because he was featured on a couple of Jaw Tooth videos, and Jaw Tooth also introduce me to Hobo Shoestring, who I watched faithfully up until his tragic passing (which I STILL suspect was something other than the official word). I haven't considered Shoestring's channel and videos "railfan" videos per se however. He was PART OF the rails we are fans of. The rails were Shoestring's life, his lifestyle, and his home for the most part, so he was a bonus close-up look at the railroad that we are all fans of, and more. I got distracted there. My intention for saying how long I've been watching railfan videos was to say this; In all of those years I have asked Jaw Tooth several questions about railroad terminology and other railroad information that I didn't know until he replied with the answers. I have one question that I keep forgetting to ask him, and that question just now popped into my mind, so I'll ask you because I'm sure that you know the answer as well. I hear Jaw Tooth and you mentioning conductors and engineers now and then. In mentioning who waved out of the window of a locomotive, or who gave a train horn salute, Jaw Tooth has mentioned both engineers and conductors. In my extremely limited understanding of everything related to railroads, I have always thougt that the engineer was in the locomotive "driving" the train, and the conductor was the guy assisting passengers onto the train, collecting tickets, and sometimes collecting fares and giving tickets to passengers who had just boarded. I didn't know that freight trains had conductors, so I am confused about what that position entails, and what is an engineer on a train? Those questions may sound stupid to a lot of people who watch your channel, but I am still learning. I trust that you can help me learn a few more things here, Scott. Great video, by the way!
The engineer is actually the person at the controls of the locomotive. He controls the speed and applies the brakes etc. If the DPU shuts down, he has to walk back to it and see what the problem is and try to get it running or make the call to the maintenance guys to come fix it. The conductor rides in the locomotive with the engineer. If you were facing the front of the locomotive, he would be on the right side and on the left side if he was sitting inside the cab. The conductor walks the train to make sure there aren`t any problems before they leave as I understand it. If there is a problem when they are out on the main, like the train going into emergency, hot bearing, broken knuckle or dragging equipment, the conductor gets out and starts walking back the train to see where the problem is and fixes it if he can. That can really suck if he has to walk a 2 mile or more long train in the rain, heat or snow and walk on that ballast too. I wouldn`t want to do it, I can tell you that!

according to wiki fumed silica is silica that's been roasted in flames it used as a filler thickener desiccant and a light defuser among other things!! looks like they installed a new electronics shack at the field end if that building! by the way Scott those yellow UP boxcars, do you have a length on those? they look longer than 60 feet and to my eye they look like 86 footers!!
Love this video Scott, Metamora looks a pretty place. I love flea markets too, get all kinds fool stuff for a bargain price. You have everything here to have a great day out. Fab way to travel to the market on that train with awesome loco, still going strong. The demonstrations were interesting too. We have lots of old water wheels still working & doing their job in the UK, powering flour mills & the odd cotton mill. I would love to have a ride on the train to Connersville & back. Yes, Metamora is a cool little town. Lots of antique shops and whatnot. They have this festival in October every year and the railroad runs people down from Connersville and back. The Whitewater Valley Railroad has a lot of cool old railroad equipment they have restored and run on a regular basis.

Mueller 1875 looked like the place to get some good mixed freight action and some good horn blasts! Watching the short ads is easy to do, but not the ones longer than your video.
Mueller is a roofing company that has been in business since 1875. They will have their 150th anniversary next year! I hear you on the ads. Some of them are like watching a mini series. Set out myself on a walk towards the tracks earlier hoping to catch something,but I got halfway up the street and the skies opened up and I got soaked😂.. Turned around and ran home lol... What's that building in the distance when you're looking North I think it was...It looks intriguing lol..
I got soaked in Glendale last night too! If you`re talking about the brown building in the distance, that is Lockland High School. It`s been there for a long time. That big open green field is where the Stearns and Foster mattress factory was for probably close to 100 years till they moved and tore it down.
