@@colormesarge I wouldn’t say that. It’s not as slag proof as a good sleeve but it works for most general welding sparks until you can’t avoid being hit directly by molten slag.
So it works good if you wear a welding jacket over it? You should try my new invisa "bear" skin shirt. Super light weight and as long as you have a welding jacket over it, your probably fine. And don't be afraid of our new welders reading glasses. They work excellent. As long as you wear a welding mask over them.
Hobart has a welding shirt. They advertise it as light cotton and breathable and it works fairly well for what it is. But I wouldn't really suggest the shirts for anything more than . Maybe mig some oxyacetylene work TIG running a grinder. Just watch spark impact. If it hits your shirt for too long, it will start to burn through I don't know if Burn is right. It's almost like a mixture of burn and melt but you know lighter stuff when you start getting into stick. Yeah go get your heavy coat as much as I hate to say it
@@garycsfunlifeI found using the shirt with some sleeves has been a great combo as well. But yea at the end of the day you’re still going to need a jacket sometimes that’s just unavoidable.
@@JTwelder. Yeah the Hobart shirts are literally full sleeves snap up the front light duty type welding shirt. It's definitely not thick enough to be considered a coat and it's advertised as a shirt I mean I could most definitely be misremembering it but I'm pretty positive they advertised it as a shirt lol 😆 if I'm wrong somebody will chime in at some point lol
as a berta pipeliner western welding shirts and Fr wrangler shirts are the best for 8010 I've never burned my arm on big inch. try welding in plus 35 for 13 hours as if you are gonna wear leathers.
@@brentcuaz7756 I don’t understand what you mean. I can assure you that mounting it below the flip is the best spot because it the flattest part of the shield and its easy to turn the light on and off when placed there.
There’s no need for a flip up!!! Just switch to a damn grinding shield. It doesn’t take much time and you won’t have to keep changing out your clear backing lens.
I attempted to weld with this brand and as budget price for the weld with 6011 even 70 rods this brand of hot junk Garbadge trash his skill are adequate to weld just those rods at just junk
Thank you for the lesson! My wife bought me a new Lincoln 90i it can run both MiG and Flux Core and I have been fighting it trying to clean up my welds and make it look presentable! Now I know to try this and will be practicing it tomorrow in the shop! Appreciate you!
I never got that like yes you can absolutely weld outside with argon thats how i learned to weld aluminum was on those aluminum dump trailers for farmers outside
I’ve used aluminum stick rods and I hate them. They are hard to use and mig welding is much faster and more versatile. In a pinch if it’s too windy the stick rods work but they’re definitely a last resort thing.
On that outlaw hood You can take that leather off and get a short piece and velcro that shit on the inside I made mine I cut it copper riveted the top velcro the bottom I have different lengths for the Bib. Just pull the short bib off stick a long bib on my hood is light I tig alot no grinding so my hood works .I have several different hoods for different applications if I was dual shield Flux core welding the full hood like you have is the way to go.
You Ran the 6010 too low for that plate, neither of those welds penetrated into the base metal at all…you should have been able to see the weld through the back of that material, 7018 doesn’t penetrate as good as 6010. 7018 tends to lay a weld bead on top of thicker material while 6010 will dig deep, hence the reason 6010 Is always used for a root pass. Have you done much work on used oil stem? 6010 or 6011 on rusty or old painted material, also have you ever had bad fit ups out in the middle of nowhere? 6010 can fill up those gaps.*there is a reason 6010 is called farm rod, if its fence, or something that is not moving/twisting 6010 is fine, I agree on machinery 7018 would work but I would probably jump to an 8018…
#1 is correct . we put out an add for welders for our factory and got a ton of resume's . the going rate here is 26 / hr but we are a cheap to live city.
Its tricky running anything commercial these days here in the UK, the government and civil service don't like the self employed and small business so they introduce really awkward regulations a bit like Canada. I run out of a Ford Transit van because it rains so much here in the UK. Top video young man!
I know people are saying all these different soaps and products and you found a better hood already (btw i git the welding hood you recommended its amazing) but maybe if you heated it hot again an then pull it back in place but i understand you hate that hood so 😂 love the princess auto flip hood 👍
I’m not sure whether safety and security aren’t issue where you are, but you might want to invest in a few pairs of $40 hockey puck locks with brackets that they use on cargo vans to secure your toolboxes as well as a cellular data plan security camera mounted above the cab facing the back of the truckso you can keep track of your assets
I have AirTag trackers in any all my expensive equipment. I would love some of those hockey puck locks but they don’t fit on any of my boxes. Luckily though I live and work in a very safe area. The only time I’m concerned about theft is whenever I have to stay at hotels overnight with the rig.
🚨If you’re gonna build an air compressor generator, you want to make sure you pressure test that air tank as it looks like it’s got a lot of rust and has been welded on 🚨
We really need some other manufacturers like mosa and esab to break into the full sized engine drive welder market in North America. Competition is always a good thing for the consumer.
I try to keep my profit margins as high as possible and knowing how to use the tools I already have efficiently is a great way to do it. I can’t believe all the money some guys spend on top of the line equipment. In the end a lot of them hardly use a good amount of their tooling or end up not using them to their full capability, it just lost profits.
I have the same little welder generator as you have in the back. Thermal Arc TA170, I love it! Good duty cycle and pretty easy to move around, Honda engine kicks ass, welds everything I need it for. Anyhow back to watching your video lol
Yeah exactly! I decided to do a welding skid setup in the factory bed indefinitely now. Make the truck a welding rig and in 5 minutes I can remove the skid and have a regular truck.
I'm 22 and will be getting out of school soon. I know I'm probably going to be working like a dog for some years, but my goal is to get to a point where i can have a life apart from work. Travel, spend time with friends and family, go to church. And get good sleep. Is that a pipe dream (no pun intended lol) or a possibility?
That is totally possible!!! Work yourself to the bone for about 5-6 years live modestly and don’t buy stupid stuff like expensive trucks, cars, boats and off road toys. Save up your money and invest it as you work. You’ll end up with a really nice relief fund the you can take months of work eventually every year.
