My channel is about improving your English. Lots of people in the world can speak English to a reasonable level but everyone can still improve. There are many reasons to improve your English from globetrotting to exams and finding a better job, romance, understanding films, music and many more. I aim to make improving your English fun and easy. I am a qulaified English teacher and have taught English in the Czech Republic for about 20 years. I teach at a state grammar school as well as privately. Please subscribe to my channel and write to me if you have any questions, comments or topics you would like me to cover in a video. Keep watching, David : )
dude, all those books that someone sells with the feature THERE ARE LOTS OF EXERCISES sound so boring to me... my english won't improve through such activities. exposing myself to a lot of content and real English is the point. it's way better than doing some exercises and tests, then going to bed and telling yourself you're improving just because you answered a few questions. SO BORING...
Yes lots of people are like you and they get stuck at one level in English. Do you know how many “boring” exercises a top sportsperson does every day? That’s what makes them different to the others. I can see by all the mistakes in your message that you don’t use books to learn. What a pity !
@@The-English-Professor Oh, I see... for you these comments are like an ESSAY TEST? AHHHHH. That's great! What a joke, hahaha dude, english is my third language, and despite studying it for only ONE year, I've reached a decent intermediate level. I believe that people who struggle so hard to learn english do so because they focus on people LIKE YOU who prioritize GRAMMAR and PERFECTION over COMMUNICATION in the begin. you should read a little bit about the NATURAL APPROACH by Stephen Krashen. that's what helps people really get used to the language, not by ANSWERING QUESTIONS - BS, but just by TRUSTING THEIR BRAINS. that's the thing.
Dear David, I have a query about this certification: in what does it differ from the Cambridge Proficiency exam in terms of prestige and expendability on the job market or for any university career?
Well a specified pass level at B2, C1 or C2 should be equal no matter which organisation administers the exam and certification. Prestige wise you need to assess for yourself. Check what any university you are interested in deems acceptable. Good luck, David
Hai Sir... hope you are doing well!! Actually I want to thank u for ur guidance through out this video as today was my speaking exam...I passed in my first attempt...I followed all the steps what you have clearly explained in this video...thanks again and will definitely recommend to my friends!!
@@The-English-Professor I have a teaching project for students through the Zoom program, and I intend the teachers to be native speakers If you have time, let's discuss it, of course we are from Syria.
Hi Damilola (is that right?), that is exceptional ! Please recommend my videos to your friends and ask them to watch and subscribe too. I hope you continue with your journey in English long into the future. All the best, David
Thanks for your question. To which part of the exam does your question refer? Part 3 or part 4? If you listen carefully you will hear exactly what each topic is. David
Was your dad from Yorkshire? Anyway city inhabitants usually died younger too ! It is true that people under pressure i.e. people who work in cities need to do everything at break-neck speed including talking but if you listen to the best and most accurate English speakers none of them speak very rapidly. My tip is - keep it nice and steady at a medium speed. David
Thank you sir. Please spread the word and tell your friends and family about my channel and tell them to subscribe and watch my videos too, I would really appreciate it. David
Hi there my Dear David thanks very much for your videos my little English it’s very slowly but understand perfectly next years fingers crossed 🤞 my Examen B1 for my visa permanent thanks again very happy 😃 for your videos. 🎊
Yes at the end of part three the candidate (you) should summarise what we have discussed and agreed. So you should say something like “ To summarise we agreed that the best/most effective etc….is….and ……. We also came to the conclusion that the worst/ least effective etc is……and…….
@@The-English-Professor I have some questions. 1:Do they ban someone if they type without looking at the keyboard at start start of writing test? 2: Do they ban someone if there's a difference in their eye sight angle to the chat box? 3:And from where exactly they notice the student?
Let me say that there is no “bad” book for learning English, there are just some which are better than others. DK books have a long and solid reputation so I see no problem with this series even though I have never personally used it. David
I think your best course of action is to contact the organization ( UK Government Office / University ) that issued the 'Refusal Letter' and ask them to send you another one because you mislaid it. They will probably charge for it. Good luck, David
Sir hollo, recently I contact you about my language cert b2 level so ,I have passed exam in speaking 30 and in (LRW) high pass.So just tell me is it good passing level?
Thanks for your kind comment. Please try to get your friends and family to watch and subscribe to my videos too. Thanks and good luck with your English. David

Thanks for your question because a lot of students have the same question and feeling before the exam. When you answer questions both written and spoken rean and listen carefully to the tense used in the question. Usually you should answer in the same tense as the question. E.g. Tell me about a holiday when you had a funny experience. - This is clearly a past tense question and should be answered using the past. E.g. A holiday when I had a funny experience was when I went to Dubai two years ago .........etc. Good luck, David
@@The-English-Professor Sir i see your video and answers yours question but when you ask the question my minds only best think not speak properly so give me one tip
@@The-English-Professor and sir also i give an ielts exam in past but unfortunately i got 5.5 in speaking now i am very worried about that test i need 33 is it possible
Yes the sentence is correct apart from the "i" s. Remember when we are writing about ourselves it should be a capital I. But well done for the third conditional sentence. David
Here's the problem: you can read all the books you want and learn all the words, but if you can't pronounce them, it's not good enough. No pronunciation books are mentioned. Why? BECAUSE IT'S HARD! IT'S NOT FUN! You've gotta add 'English Pronunciation in Use' by Jonathan Marks. It's an invaluable teaching aid and pivotal to learning IPA and pronunciation.
Hi Russel ( or is it Scott? ), you are right in saying this however, these days we have the internet, which helps people immensely with pronunciation accuracy, don't you agree? You can google a word and listen to how it should be pronounced both in a British and an American accent. Apart from that most dictionaries and some text books use the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) for those people who know it. Thanks you comment - you sound like a wise person, David
Yes, there are indeed numerous resources out there, to be sure. I appreciate "Pronunciation in Use" because it not only teaches IPA, but also allows you to work one-on-one with the student to practice all the sounds. I believe it's crucial to engage in this personal, one-on-one pronunciation practice rather than relying solely on online resources. This approach ensures that students not only hear but also understand the mechanics of how sounds are made. A significant issue with many pronunciation exercises is that students may hear the sounds but don't understand the mechanics of how the sounds are made. I specialize in teaching Vietnamese students, who particularly need this resource since many of the sounds in English are not used in Vietnamese. I agree that "Ready for First" and "Ready for Advanced" are excellent books. "Grammar in Use" is great; however, I teach the book in a different order because I feel starting with the present perfect and present continuous is somewhat advanced for my methodology. "Vocabulary in Use" is also excellent. The books you've mentioned are indeed superb.
Hello Mr. David. I want to thank you about your usefull informations after watching this video for Language Cert International ESOL SELT B1 exam. May God Bless you and your familly. Daniel
Yes this book has different levels. In this video I mentioned the intermediate level book , which is blue. There is also a lower level book , which is for elementary and beginner (A1/A2) levels.
Thanks for your feedback and to some extent you are correct. However, the content of the simulation, as you put it, is in fact the information containing the tips on sample questions and activities. I cover other tips in previous videos such as the B2 level video. I hope you appreciate that I do not want to teach people at C2 level how to "suck eggs" !
You should check with the organiser of your exam but if you are writing on a computer there should be a word counter. I cannot give a specific answer unfortunately.
