Just so you all know, those small pools are only for injured animals or animals that are not quite ready for the larger pools. Once they have gotten a bit better at training, then they introduce them to a larger pool with other animals, hoping to get them to make new friends
Get a cheap deep plastic trash container and throw in some bait. Attach it to a wooden fence post or a tree so a raccoon can climb up to see what's inside. It'll jump in and start eating but won't be able to climb back out. Raccoon families tend to stick together when feeding. One of the kids goes in first, it will call for mom when it can't climb out. Mom goes in and also gets stuck. All the other kids climb in to be with mom. Mom goes in first and gets stuck, all the kids will go in to be with mom. Either Way, you can wipe out an entire family of these vermin.
The tank is either for training or for aquatic animals that are healing from major injuries. These pools are temporary until they are good enough to swim in a larger pool
I've hiked both trails. The high school trail is a lot more pleasant, and has better views along the way. The worst part of the Chirico isn't the steep climb up but the steep climb down, which is hard on the knees because of going down so many rock steps.
