Back when I used to be in the MCRD, the first thought on my mind was..."Ohhhh...🥺 I knew I should've chosen the Air Force, I really screwed up." This bootcamp seems extremely luxurious compared to what I had to go through😅
The Air Force is very popular because it's the exact opposite of the more strict, constipated, uptight branches. That's why its standards for joining are so strict. 80% of applicants end up in other branches. In fact, the Air Force is the Army's biggest staffing source. Think of the Air Force as the post office with aircraft--except the post office works on Saturdays. Otherwise, airman are essentially "civilians in uniform".
My wife is at basic. She about to do her last week before graduation. Thanks for the info. I’m glad it’s not full metal jacket either, as that’s my only experience as prior marine.
Story time Im from the US Virgin Islands, so to go to MEPS I have to go over to Puerto Rico. The night I go in, I get to the hotel, sign in, evetojes pretty nice or whatever, but fast forward before I got to sleep. Meet my roommate, he was pretty chill, I was setting my alarm for 4 even though we were told we would get a wake up call A4:15 my roommate said he was going to wakeup at 3:30. Good idea he did that because when we were finished, it was 10 minutes past 4:15, and we were almost late. Wake up call came 20 minutes after... 😂😂😂😂
Thank you for this video. I'm watching all of your videos. My daughter's at BMT now, she's in Week 3 and when she graduated she'll be coming there too, her job is also Public Affairs E3. She's an older adult and she has her Bachelors and her Masters already.. I spoke to her yesterday she told me she cried twice already because she got yelled at. She said she's not moving as fast as the younger girls. I told her continue to do her best it will get better. Everyday is a day closer to graduation and getting out of there. She said the girls there are mean and they love the drama. I told her ignore that, stay to herself. You are there to get a little future in life, you're not there to make friends with everyone. Think about the road ahead and your future. She wants her student loans debts paid down so she can save and buy a home. I'm going to write her this weekend and give her more support and encouragement. Thank you again for your videos. Continued blessings ❤
Im thinking about joining but I have a few questions. What about when we get our period ? Do we get pills for cramps and heated pads? Extra shower time ?
Any tips to book this job? I qualify for it with my asvab score and have years of civilian experience in this field as an actor, producer, editor, writer, camera operator etc. I also have a bachelors degree. Can I wait for this to become available?
“No pay phones, this isnt 1980.” Legit made me laugh. I went to Army basic in 1997 and there were still pay phones. But thanks for making me feel old 😂
I thought there were physical requirements in order to enlist? Like a certain amount of pushups, sit ups etc… How were u able to enlist if you had difficulty doing pushups? Wondering because I also struggle with them 😅
Basically it's poverty pay until you make E-5. Most unmarried folks don't really care.but it's uncomfortable if you have family and get a deployment (even for 6-mos) to places that don't accept dependents. Its sucks for a young girl that gets stuck even with base housing - all alone to trying to deal with everything.
You're not suposed to stay in. Get an AFSC the has a civilian counterpart,, complete your AF contract and then slide right into the civilian job and do the exact same work but for much much better pay. Anymore it can beat the hell out of going to collage. And you can earn a degree while in the Air Force. It's done all the time.
If you're a student leader don't be a prick, just do what you're supposed to do and don't go overboard because you have some power. Also if you're in a coed dorm, don't try to sneak into the dayroom after hours and try to get some stinky finger or oral copulation because you will get caught and if are you might as well kiss your career goodbye.
Wait What? BMT is the most fun you'd ever want to have? I'm USAF Retired, and when I went through AFBMT in the mid 70's, we were not having fun. We were afraid of getting set back. In those days Basic Training was only 6 weeks long, ok, sure, it was cool knowing that we were transitioning into an Air Force career, but the guys that I knew as well as myself, we were afraid that we might get set back. Fun, ok, but then again , fun, 'taint necessarily so because we were young and scared of getting set back.
This helps so much. I was worried about everything and I some of these things that you went over stopped me from wanting to join. You explaining everything made me want to join so much more. Thank you.
Hey. I was wondering if there was a way to request flying out of state. During my tech school my brother in law is getting married on a Saturday and I really wanted to be there with my wife. I wanted to fly out Friday after school and come back on Sunday night. The wedding is in California and I would be in Maryland. Is that a possibility?
