What you need to do is tell the truth to your blogger trolls what the lady warn you about, you two being out together and looking for stuff in the wrong places.You two look like some poor individuals.Who wants to rob,you.Lot of your foreign bloggers and foreigners on vacations you all dont have any money.Trinidadins feel so sorry for you all.The stupid things you say and do inTrinidad on your visit shows that you have no class and bearly getting by in your country of original.Your just happen to bearly buy you plane tickets.This is the wrong island for your behaviour and weed that you think you will get.This is not about you being scare in Trinidad.Trinidad and Tobago is a very classy Island.You got off on the wron g island.Those who cannot fix in from others islands or cannot come back to Trinidad because of false documents used to go to America, Canada, and E gland spread bad reports from abroad because they were never born in Trinidad or other Caribbean Islands try to say bad things about Trinidad.All of these islands are fighting to build highways get status of Republic like Trinidad or got it,after years of sponging on Britain and vice versa.Britain dont need them, anymore.Especially the new King.Even Carnival that they hated is their big saviour. Many of these islands never report their correct crimes rate because their only source of income is Tourism.Trinidad and Tobago is the only island that gives an accurate crime report.How about that for you foreign bloggers and Caribbean Islands haters.You all are so jealous of Trinidad and Tobago and want to see Trinidad fall,apart for years.These foreign bloggers are coming because you are so welcoming to these poverty stricken bloggers that run down your island to get like and money on their page.You keep telling them about your foods,herbs and anything you have in your guts.Why are you allowing these people to speak these lies about crimes.Those of crimes is done in these other big countries and they flood to go there or will not leave their rat,roaches and crime infested area,but have the nerve to speak about crime in a place they have not seen for years.They only record what some family that live in a remote place in Trinidad told them.Most of their relatives are squatters in Trinidad.I have to try and have a bill past against you bloggers delivering misinformation on your post.

Your room must have been a lot cleaner than ours, which was filthy. The dust looked like it had been there since the hotel opened. We were also disappointed to see trash floating in the water. No fish in there, just zip lock bags. A lot of guests would walk up and down collecting trash to try to help. Because of the style we felt it was weird to have that street with stores (like Disney would have) just closed. No gift shop on premises. We left a day early and would recommend the Regent instead. They have polish and class with service and quality of rooms. The beach still isn’t that great but you have to go to another place like Hawaii or Mexico or the Caribbean for that it seems. But the hotel was 100% superior to the dusty Marriott.

Its nice to arrive by water. If the Grand Canal is not rough with traffic. The staff are so nice and at the same time so unobtrusive, you very really see anyone from the cleaning team. We stayed for a week and each day the flowers were changed and a new gift was on the dresser, a box of Gritti chocolates was the one I enjoyed the most.

What’s your membership status with Marriott? I’m wondering if they’ll give out suites to gold members.

@bernardyan5071 10 месяцев назад
We have Titanium Status with Marriott Bonvoy. The resort is usually very generous with suite upgrades for members that are platinum and above. No harm reaching out to the hotel a few nights prior to your stay. Otherwise the premium rooms are also very beautiful, large enough to easily pass off as junior suites as well.

New travel vloggers need to research properly before coming. Just as you do when you visit Mexico and want to stay outside a protected resort and be in the city, mingling with the locals and experiencing the culture. You have to know which areas are safe. Just as you do when visiting Chicago or NYC or Rio or London. You don't go stay in their crime hot spots for vacation. No matter how adventurous you may be. In Tobago, you can stay at the most humble, most affordable AirBnB and it is paradise, with nature all around, proximity to the beach, and most of all, SAFE!!!! The people in Tobago just have a different vibe, more peaceful, respectful and hospitable, rootsy, closer to nature, and very community oriented. People own their own land and farm and fish and have small businesses. There is overall less crime because of it, even if there is some poverty. As you will discover in the Caribbean and most tropical places that are fertile and abundant in the Global South, there is a HUGE difference between RURAL POVERTY (having less money and modern conveniences but still having natural clean water, fresh food, fish, community, and beautiful nature all around, and a sense of contentment) and URBAN POVERTY (having less money and living in a concrete jungle, disconnected from nature, do not own anything and are caught up in the rat race and chasing the American lifestyle of materialism). So yes, you can also have a Tobago-like experience in Trinidad, the more industrialized of the two islands, that is safe, community-oriented, and connected to nature with beautiful forests, waterfalls and beaches if you stay in rural or beach villages like Paramin, Maracas, Las Cuevas, Matelot, Salybia, Brasso Seco and Toco. But once you go outside of the rural and fishing villages of Trinidad, and into its more urban areas, you will discover, it is more cutthroat and individualistic. There is more organized crime and violence and fewer family values. Urban poverty correlates with violence and lack of safety. In some neighborhoods where there has been a lot of brain drain (emigration of older generations to the USA, leaving behind their children, neglected, unsupervised), Government neglect, generational social traumas and ills, and loss of traditions and values, there is more crime. You CANNOT STAY at humble, affordable places in Trinidad's urban areas, without safety being an issue. You need to KNOW the neighborhoods in and around Port of Spain. Generally, East Port of Spain is a no-no. Sure you can take a chance, but if safety is paramount, and you want to relax and not be looking over your shoulder constantly, then NO!!!. Before I migrated, I lived on Belmont CIrcular Road in Port of Spain, right opposite the hospital and it was still safe, and a hub of pan, mas, and cultural interest. Sad to see it has become a crime hotspot area. If you are looking for affordable accommodation try Central Trinidad or Eastern parts of Trinidad like St. Augustine, Trincity, Tunapuna, or even around the Piarco area (yes it will mean having to drive into Port of Spain) like this vlogger did: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gJM2s5Kjvq0.html Check out his Trinidad Vlog for cues on how to explore the island properly and safely. He did not have any worries about safety. If you are willing to spend a little more to be in the heart of Port of Spain, choose an Airbnb in St. Anns, Woodbrook, St. Claire, Maraval, St. James, or Newtown. Higher economic class bracket neighborhoods correlate with more safety. Yes, crime is an issue. But to put things into perspective, tens of thousands of people converge in Trinidad for Carnival every year and have a safe and enjoyable time, because they know where to stay and how to move.

Hello Gary! Thanks so much for your update. When we made this video it was back in 2019 so this was over 3 years ago and we would assume that price has increased since then. We did not get a discount and we paid the full price. We have receipts to prove it as well. If you have any recommendations on any places you thought was good we would love to hear all about it :)

Hey there! Thanks for your question! We actually flew into HCMC, took a bus south and then a ferry to the island. You can actually fly into the island as well! Whatever works for you. In terms of transportation on the island, you can get a local cab which is offered either at the airport or at the ferry OR you can get car service from the hotel. Feel free to ask anymore questions that you may have :)
