I love the granulation technique, the variety of colors that are now available is amazing. There is so much texture the technique affords you. You are the best teacher, thank you 🙏🏼 ♥️
I learn about sketching starting in 2014, and faber castell is my tools until now .. but now I want to try the Derwent brand just for experience. because as we know the artist will be happy if the equipment is complete.. thx leila🎉
@@dedeniqbal7 In the video it's just regular drawing paper from a drawing pad, nothing special really, but if you are working on a big project than make sure to use thicker paper around 300gsm
I've been dreaming of granulated paints, but they are hard to get where I live, shipping fees to Switzerland are ridiculously priced. Schmincke is right on the corner of this country and amazon don't deliver them here, it's, if they have it available. I bought the DS granulating medium after watching this video, to be honest, I didn't like it, that's not the look I want to achieve. Which brand of paint did use for the abstract showed at 11:40 at the video? That's a beautiful granulation, as much are your arquitetural paintings. I learned a lot with your explanations. Thank you for sharing. 💞
Most of those colours (in the time stamp) are schmincke with lots of granulating medium. I've never used DS medium the one I used was winsor and newton and schmincke spray. You can go for colours that you'd normally have in the set that tend to granulate like carbon black, ultra marine, some browns etc. I can understand your frustration, I'm in NZ and it's hard to get some brands over here as well and shipment cost at times even more than the actual product. Try all the colours that you have with the granulation medium and see which ones granulate more 😊
Hi Leila, your right, I meant to say Winsor & Newton, that's the one I bought. I also have black from Finetech, it's a good one. I´ll try new mixes. Thank you for the inspiration!
@@floralheart Keep experimenting and don't forget to try it on different paper finishes and brands as well. They can really affect the way granulation presents itself :)
😊that’s one of ASMR videos they are meant to be for relaxing and as a sleep aid. If you are not into that ignore videos with ASMR in the title or speed them up a bit. ❤️
@@LeilaAtaya Thx, looked up afterwards, seeing it a lot, didn’t realize - moved on to…… You’re other videos, ❤️❤️❤️them !! Thx 🙏 & apologies - I need to get with it 😝😝😂😂
Nice demonstration with drawing the different types of paper and how particles settle. Yes you are encouraging me to use and mix the granulating colors. Thank you so much. I only just discovered you.
Yes, yes, yes experiment with granulation! It’s a watercolor thing and not prominent in other media. Understanding Granulating colors can be so important when working with this medium! So glad you’re enjoying the videos 😄
I never laughed so hard at a video thumbnail before… also on a more serious note, thank you for sharing your beautiful art & for your lovely video teachings. I enjoy watching & find that we’d totally get a long like childhood friends by way of your personality & sense of humor. 🌷❣️✨😌🤗
Hey Leila : - A Real "Curve-Ball" Subject/Material This Upload??!...... And, you sound a bit like a kid with a brand new toy = Legit Excited (nice to see + hear!!). This reminds me of 2 things straight away - one of 'em from my hedonistic "rock + roll" past in the 90's. Good luck taking it through airport customs, as - It looks just like Pakistani Hashish !..... the same soft and mushy texture, and exactly the same colour. Obviously, the smell of it would luckily put Mr./Mrs. customs officer at ease (!!). And, I make a custom-mixed lubricant for tuning air rifles - a putty, not a grease - by mixing a very fine mineral powder very similar to graphite called molybdenum, with a small amount of already black "standard" grease : - Like you wisely did = If you handle it without gloves on, it's just a total disaster..... It gets in your pores and under nails, and you look like a right tramp for about a week - however much you wash your hands!!!. Both are harmless, but - just blacker than black (Lamp Black, Mars Black etc. etc.). It's Just Lovely To See A Very Experienced Artist Having Genuine Fun. Indeed as you said, your scope for unique and "one off" patterns and shapes is literally endless. Cool Stuff. Thanks as always Chuck - Great to have you on The 'Tube...... Nick x
Haha yes ‘rock and roll’ that’s a really good way to describe this material 😆 I didn’t really know what to expect from this and got it because it looked interesting and was on special 😊 the messiness of it is not the best thing but it does seem to wash out quite well. Most art materials are messy so I guess I’m used to it now. Glad you’re enjoying the videos!
I have a feeling that if you work on super large sketches you might go through it but if you are working on A3 side drawings it will last for a long time.
@@LeilaAtaya Yeah a4/a3 mostly, seems like so much scope for organic texture like you did with the rocks, almost feel like it could work in the same way a base layer would for painting then you can be more refined on top
Howdy Friend : - Not Underrated By Her Followers On Here!. Just a bit of a crime she doesn't have 150,000 subscribers instead of 15,000??. And, if **anyone** "under-rates" her acrylic pieces/commissions in particular? = They've obviously got zero taste or appreciation of a very special talent. Cheers - wherever you are.....
Каждое видео-шедевр, всегда познавательно, интересно, возникает желание попробовать самому, даже если работаешь в другой технике.благодарность от зрителей ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Once again, great stuff Leila! I have found paper is so important for watercolor painting. I have been using cold press 300 gsm / 140 lb. from Arches. A bit pricey but good stuff. Thank you Leila, I've learned much from your tutorials. Watch out for that Kiwi weather...
I've never painted an apple with watercolors before so I used this video for a little painting session. I followed the tutorial with some cheap Gansai paints and cheap paper. Since I only wanted to do a short painting session, it wasn't much that I was expecting. There was no time to think about the exact color choice, wait for it to dry or pay attention to every detail. My apple was finished just before the end of the tutorial. I skipped the finishing touches. What can I say, I love my apple 🥰 It's more of an old wrinkled apple but it has character and the more I look at it the more I like it. But the best thing about it is the shadow, it turned out just perfect. This spontaneous short painting session was wonderfully relaxing and a great experience for me, completely outside of my comfort zone. Thank you very much 🤗🤗🤗 Btw it took me more time to write this comment than to paint the apple 😂😂😂
Hey Leila : - 2 uploads in fairly quick succession..... Good Effort. I like the new "overhead" camera angle at the beginning - and very clever how you set in a zoom function at the same time, you must have a decent/high spec. video camera??. The apple you've painted looks like it's been polished, maybe on the upper leg of a pair of trousers? - Something I'm sure people still do before eating it, though I've never seen anyone do this for decades..... I never saw the point of such an action, **it doesnt make them taste any better?!**. Perfect timing to find a new video from you = I'm just prepping for bed, it being 1.50 a.m in England. I loved the hail/thunder storm "featuring" too : - hearing it on the roof/ground when you're warm and dry in a house is a super-"grounded" and alive feeling??, being in a tent when this comes from the heavens is even more cosy and protected-a-sensation..... Thanks Chuck, and - all the best to you as always..... Bye, Nick. P.S : - Glad To See Your Glorious Head Of Hair Hasn't Been Cut - yet anyway (I won't hold it against you if/when you do!!).
I did not expect for the weather to change so rapidly when I began filming. I guess that makes the unintentional part of the ASMR even more unintentional 🤣 hope you are having a good day!!
Can I ask what is the tape that you used for the demonstration fish piece (brand, type?)? I do love the video in general and love granulation and will definitely be using it more! Thank you
It's the one that's sold in my local art shop: WASHI MASKING TAPE DELICATE from Tape-spec. You might have a different brand with the same effect in your local store so just ask the shop assistants :)
You do beautiful work but in order to really learn are you saying on patreon that we would have to pay 100.00 a month? The 14.00 a month doesn't speak about teaching anything nor do the lower selections. Am I reading this correctly ?
It depends on what kind of teaching you’d like to receive. If you want a face to face , one on one learning session with me then it’s 100 for a class. If you’d like to learn through videos and ask questions through messages then I’d say $8 a month is the one to go for. If you’d like to be able to win prizes then go for a 14 a month. There’s a $2 a month too but that gives you access to posts and you can still ask questions. There should be an introduction video but it’s quite old- there are new things now as well like feedback videos and more games etc.
Hm…🤔 … to me it looks fine for this kind of animal but you can do whatever size you’d like in your sketch, remember tutorials are just a jump start for your own creativity 🙂
It always impresses me how you apply seemingly random strokes in the beginning phases, that come together so smoothly and create a scene. Very impressive final result. Really enjoy these videos.
..... Touche My Friend : - me too, I dont think I've ever found a nicer, more relaxing voice (and accent) on RU-vid. Maybe I'm a bit weird/"wired up" wrong (?!), But : try listenening to her tutorials on 0.75 speed = It's Even More Relaxing!. All The Best, Nick.
