I think the Cybertruck is cool! Will it be getting military contracts soon? I wonder how it compares to the Hummer. BTW, remove the “VS Raptor” in the tittle.
This is a really great overview, MPP. It seems the Cybertruck's suspension uses inexpensive and less durable design and construction. I will however say having driven both the Tesla Cybertruck and the Rivian RT1, the Cybertruck's ride is much, much smoother.
The raptor R's suspension is solely setup for the floating feel. The purpose is to separate chassis movement from suspension and cab movement. The cybertruck what you guys are describing is the opposite of what anyone doing high speed off road runs wants. You dont want the chassis and suspension moving in unison. There's no suspension travel left which means you've maxed out the limit. Kinda weird you guys didn't show the raptor r runs. The short clip you guys show of it you see the raptor R hitting the top of 5th shifting into 6th. Thats telling me you guys are moving that truck at 100+. Top of 5th im doing 115ish in a raptor R. the other trucks at max showed 80kph which is what 50 ish mph.
Such a joke that they are giving us low power model in Canada. Fact Tesla even released Alibaba version of a "PERFORMANCE" Model is comical. People who are willing to spend money on a performance anything, definitely give a crap about every single hp. Let alone 40hp+!! Don't even bother selling it in Canada!
I'm sure there is a regulation somewhere Canada is enforcing with the teslas being sold there. Or a value in the sales figures there with their performance. All about the money
yeah, it sucks. Plus the P model doesn't qualify for the EV tax credit. Gonna wait on my end and see hwo the China EV automakers tax review ends up - as that may be a route into a US version with the better battery. OR we will go with a plaid.
@@AvianSolutions yes, if you do some research you will see the US get the better battery to qualify for US fed credits. Canada and the rest get the China made version, with the different battery
You guys are not selling it! My older M3P is pretty handy on track, with a 2ish min lap on a high speed circuit, Snetterton UK. I can do one warm up and then it usually gets hot in the 3rd or 4th hard lap. Then one cool down lap. By this point brakes are pretty much finished even with hot pads and fluid. What are the rear motor and battery cooled by? Battery mineral oil for battery and Motor = synthetic oil? Has anyone looked at increased the volume of these cooling circuits? Perhaps adding a larger cooler? It must be possible to tune these for longevity rather than just reduce the power
Stupid challenge, it's like taking a Rolls Royce Phantom and a Bentley Flying Spur to the Nurbergring, it's not what the vehicle is built for. And seriously, no talk about the input delay on the Cybertruck, while comparing it to a rally car 😂, that was the dumbest thing I've heard all day.
Is it possible for an aftermarket product (party box maybe?) to cap the power at something more comparable to the old car but having a "passing" button when max power needed for a short time?
@@boostav yeah but the cooling system is unified so any where you can reject heat and take load off of the system the more cooling power can be directed to the battery. There is a kit to add another cooler the rear motor oil loop before it hits the cooling system heat exchanger. Can’t remember who sells it. Is there any cooling override that can be done to cold soak the battery between sessions, assuming there is an RV plug available.
@@harryman11 Yes we sell a rear oil cooler kit for the older cars. Unfortunately this battery limiting is internal, and based on modeled parameters so no "actual" cooling can solve anything at this time. Hopefully Tesla allow more aggressive discharge in a future software update!
My big criticism with CT is that the control arms are not beefy enough for driving like this. This was obvious when the first pictures of the suspension came out. Hopefully Tesla or aftermarket offers some forged versions. CT is really only robust enough for potholes in the current equipment. I was invited to buy one recently, but I passed until they announce the 4 motor, large pack version. Hopefully by then, they fix the durability too.
I have R1T quad motor and what drives me crazy is always the safety. 20mph speed limit at full hight, 45mph on 13.9inch clearance...here in south Florida it's all MUD and you can't cut power at all in the mud... maybe if you set regen to minimal , it might behave better. Also , I'm not a big fan of drift mode ... you're driving the car with half your power ....only the 2 rear motors...430-500hp/Tq instead of 850-900hp total of all 4 motors. In the end, I think the Rivian us still better truck, just needs better programming....
I got a chance to trial the rivian here in Australia and couldn’t believe the power throttling. Approached some deep sand with some speed to keep up momentum and the car stopped all power and just went into a slow crawl. Didn’t get stuck but was very close to. Absolute no go for me and something that needs to be addressed. we had rivian folks in the car who also didn’t know how to disable it any further
Tesla and Rivian should take note of the damage the trucks experienced in this video. It would be nice for both of these trucks to be even tougher in their future iterations. That being said these guys were absolutely mobbing on private land which is something I suspect very few of these trucks actually experience. A good next test would be to see how these trucks compare in slow speed rock crawling.

Recent Rivian software updates in 2024.19 have made some big improvements to both the suspension and the traction control - it'd be interesting to see how it does once you update it!
drift mode isnt made from that type of driving, its made specifically for enabling noobs to drift and maintain the drift according to the software and less the user. To get it to drive the way you want you got to put it in off road all-terrain and turn off traction control and stability. Only way to get the truck to drive like a traditional vehicle. Rally mode is made for maximum speed and control and not kicking the vehicle side ways and doing all that crazy shit. Also when you jump the vehicle if you slow down as you approach the jump the vehicle fly thru the air nose down and land on front wheels first. If you maintain the same speed the vehicle will land on all four wheels at once and if you accelerate as you approach the jump you will land on the back wheels first with nose in the air.
The driver was clearly accelerating on takeoff to pitch the vehicle into a flat landing - not sure which video you were watching but the data clearly shows acceleration on takeoff which is the perfect driving style for a jump
In the Rivian I wonder if rally mode would make a difference? Others used snow mode for a different experience too. The modes really do change the performance and feel of the throttle and suspension. I think it would be interesting to run same course in each of the different mode programs.
