05:45 it's really confusing to rotate the chess board, in a football game they don't cross the axis, and you can usually see the moves on the board and see who is black or white. thx, video!
2:41 what if he moved white king up? its check mate next move using the queen no matter what, or am i tripping? And i dont even play chess. Edit : nvm he can move black king to the left (only option i found so far) But then you move pawn to attack the horse and forces it to move.
I still think the whole not being able to move the piece even a half sec after taking your hand off is a dumb rule. Especially at this level. Once you move and take your hand off you should be committed to using that piece but the play should end once the timer is pressed. There's also the dumb rule about supposedly having to call when you're adjusting a piece in a square. As if master chess players would try to move pieces to another square on camera surrounded by spectators. Who wants to watch someone lose like this?
At 2:21, can someone explain to me why he played Bxg3 instead of just moving his bishop out of the way to e1 for example? The commentator makes it sound like he has no choice, but isn't he sacrificing his bishop to open up the diagonal for his queen?
They're inputting the moves manually using an external program. If they could connect the bot directly to the game, Magnus, or any other grandmaster would get destroyed.
He missed queen to d1, he wins the game 3 turns later if he made that move. This sport is for rich kids with lots of time on their hands. Ive played chess a few times, how do you miss a winning play like that?
The guy using stockfish to try and beat magnus didn't lose because stockfish is worse than magnus. He lost because it was taking him too much time to look up the next move and play it. Magnus already had those moves in his head so he doesn't need to consult a bot to make his moves. His moves were much faster so he won on time
Understand that this definition of "cheating" does not mean illegal moves. It means a player claims a lower raking when in fact that person has a much better standing.
