I appreciated so much of what you said. What stood out to me most was when you said those feelings of jealousy and anger were their own internal boundaries warning them that something was really wrong. That has always stood out to me about “jealousy” in polygamy. It has always seemed to me like a natural and healthy response to such an appalling situation. I agree with you that the system needs to be dealt with; the individuals caught up in it need compassion.
Catholic here. Our Archbishop gave a serman on the environment. When we want to know why God allowed Hurricanes, wild fires, tornadoes and such. God gave us choices and we chose to destroy our planet. We need to clean it up. I lived in SLC for about 11 years. I've seen the inversion and how brown the sky can be. One day a couple of young men came to my house asking for tidings. Somehow my family was registered to their ward. I let them know I do give tidings at my church. Another time 2 ladies stopped by to register my 8 year old daughter for primary classes. My then husband told them she attends religious classes at our church. Then they said since majority of her school friends are attending primary she should attend to be with them. Of course he was polite declining the offer. I could not believe they would suggest that?? #westvalley
Dear Ben I agree with your point that BIG emmotions for children take no time to be present and hold space for them. As a social worker, I have adults who also have BIG emmotions and recently I couldn't hold space for the individual. She had taken up a lot of space and continued to demand more to the point of being obtuse to my colleauges and manager. my brain broke and told her I couldn't hold space any further.
This episodes hits so much worse when you findout later that Kody took back his wedding ring to Meri and had it melted down . She here she is buying a ring for a new wife after hers was taken.

Reference to ‘future faking’ - I had no idea. Yet another way the women of this cult are controlled . It’s sad to know women were strung along like that on top of everything else they had to suffer through behind a smile. The insight, observations based on shared experience and clarity of thought provided on this channel is impressive. Really astute insights - Looking forward to your episode reviews. This is very interesting because Ben’s content is getting down to the psychology behind bewildering behaviours we’ve witnessed on this show. It’s allowing viewers to get beyond the frustration (and eventually, appalling) behaviour of Kody and Robyn’s mindset and also sheds light on why the other wives acted the way they did. When you are not in a cult, we don’t necessarily make the connection to the specific drivers of such bizarre behaviour.

Hey Benjamin.. what is up with Kodys hair??? He REALLY makes a fuss that we see his hair! He’s always “ head banging” like he’s at a Heavy Metal concert!! lol! The funniest most exaggerated examples of Kody and his hair are his wedding to Robyn. When he’s cake testing that ridiculous display of dancing actually made me want to vomit! Who does that?? And all the woman thinking it was “ cute” ?? Gross!! Than in the mosh pit! Like WTH DUDE!!! He’s jumping up n down flopping his head all over flipping his hair.. lol . The LDS Church + polygamy broke generations & generations of my family (mainly the women, but all were affected), most of my living cousins are exmo, I’m a first generation heathen, and so - thank you mom.
