I’m a personal experience vlogger. These are my experiences living in the Philippines. My idea is to share the adventure of everyday life and the travels I enjoy. My travels starting in my teens, the destination determined the route to get there, but the perpetual excitement was seeing what’s around the next corner. Stops along the way and just the general adventure of exploring the Philippines, the people and their culture.
Thank u for the great content/info on your channel. I don't know if my filipina wife and I will ever retire in Phil's or not (currently in Indiana) but I am always looking for more info about Phil's.
How come all these Philippine retirement videos focus on low rent life with low money dudes. Is there nice mansions with air conditioning and pools? I mean I can handle 300K a year. Is this poor man life all that’s available?the place you show sucks. No wonder retirees die so quickly there. Your Chanel expensive expat is targeted to bums?

Hmm.. What excites you about the Philippines?? Maybe try ''Expats of Monaco"" They have a lot of places like that. You could feel right at home there...
No family here. We don't do people. I've talked to my neighbors , no one has a kind word. We are reacting to things we didn't get done, things we should have done, or didn't do it the right way or not soon enough. So I go through the day, my goal, do not interact with people.
Yeah I get it. Been in construction, maintenance, welding, etc... my whole life. I do a lot of work here in Wyoming for free. All I ask is a smile, thank you, etc...
There are enough here. Just not up to western standards . So with some work and upgrade they become an awesome find. Then over time you can end up saving quite a bit on the rent
I’m relatively new to your channel, and I love it. Thank you for your content. I have been looking for this kind of lifestyle for years. I am kind of jealous, lol . I fell in love with the Philippines about 8 months ago, and plan on coming that way around july of next year.
Yes - more like Mexico with expat living in a bubble. Go outside the perimeter of the bubble and it is mexico with english speakers and soi dogs. I do find that over the years Thailand is not the land of smiles, nor is vietnam. It's the Philippines.
I am curious about how and where expats go for banking in the Philippines. Is there a trusted bank Americans use to setup their banking in Philippines? Do you have a video on banking and where to setup if retired in Philippines. This is still new and foreign to me.
People in the usa have idea how bad it is in there country … to much guns and violence bad quality of foods and don’t get me started about the coffee … is like the frog in the slow boiled water
You're very smart, it helps both parties, just make it a point that it's all in documents and that it's their property and it's not loaned or foreclosed, i hope this helps. I like watching your channel, just subscribed
@@Ex-Pensive_Expatalso i remember a lawyer told me decades ago that don't accept anything for free rent there should be notarised paper even if it's just P1 one peso rent to make it legal. I think there's a law about that, i did not really dig on to that law here in the country so maybe you have to check that out. God Bless
Hahaha.... In my case that hasn't been true. I've been here 2 1/2 years. I get approached often my friend. But thanks for the tip. If I'm ever single any longer than I choose to be I'll consider shaving. Take it from a guy with a beard who isn't wealthy, you'd apparently be shocked how many love beards
It's doable if you're discipline to budget in the Philippines. In the US, you'll be homeless. However, $600/ month is merely surviving and not living and wish you don't have a catastrophic medical situation since you're not covered.
You can survive way better here on $600 than in America. What would you choose a comfortable life here or living on the streets. $600 is my budget. That has nothing to do with my income.
I could buy all the insurance I want. Easily affordable as $600 is only a budget absolutely nothing to do with my income. I also travel when I feel like it and have been remodeling my house plus plus etc etc. No need to worry about me. Thanks for your concern
@@Ex-Pensive_Expat Good for you. As I always remind my kids that in every endeavor there's the intended consequence but more important is determining the unintended consequence that tend to hit you blindsided. I don't know about my house you're talking about as foreigners are not allowed to own real property in the Philippines. If someone is telling you can, you're being scammed.
@@rspcoach619 As of now I have no intention, plan or desire to own real estate here. At the rent I am paying it makes absolutely no sense. I might feel the opposite in the states. I financed real estate there for 35 years. But here Nope. Not interested
It’s me Zach. I contacted you on Facebook a few days ago about one of the houses there that you were saying was new construction and around $97 USD. Have any more deals popped up yet? Old Dog Paul seems to have a cool yard going there. Interesting vid. Really enjoyed it.
Great video guys 2 good views on a simple stress free life after my life in US that's all I'm looking for 5 months here now exactly what I expected thanks to guys like you
Every video of yours reinforces my decision to retire there ! They chip away at my inhibitions, and fears. I appreciate you and your efforts brother, thank you !!! safe journey
Your welcome. If you can do me a favor and PM me on my facebook page. Ex-Pensive_Expat. Let me know your fears so I can cover them in a video. If you feel it you know many other do also
@@Ex-Pensive_Expat I'm incorperating your request into my FB post for wed. But I will send over the relevant section of it to your pm there brother. safe journey
Interesting video my friend, as always. Cannot understand why people focus on your hat....you wear what is comfortable for you and the reason should be 'its none of your business'! I too have cancer, I have breast cancer, so there are things that maybe I can't wear anymore, or that look odd to others. Get over it, cancer is a big thing, I hope your next surgery goes well and my most positive thoughts are with you, take care.
I like old Dog he's the reason I filed for my SS early but I already retired early and was just waiting to get my ss because it's the third check part of my retirement plan .We live realy good here in the Philippines on my retirement .
Your 100% correct I retire with pension I 1.5 years and would love this opportunity my wife already owns a big house there but I don’t want to live with family I want privacy and would jump on this option
Thanks for your video. Very helpful. I have a couple of questions. It seems to me that the use of carpeting is not as prevalent in the Philippines as it is in the Western world. Is that true? If so why do Filipinos dislike carpeting. Also, I'm wondering, - is your internet fiber optic cable reliable and is your power reliable. I watched a video from a guy who get the Starlink System internet because the power in his area was a bit unreliable and he needed reliable internet for the work he was doing. That was a very useful video on Old Dog channel
I don't have a great answer for the carpeting exactly, except tiles don't wear out in a few years and a lot easier to clean. I have fiber optic and depending on where you live Starlink maybe higher quality and more reliable. I don't know anyone with Starlink. In my area, Northern Luzon we have more reliable electricity / internet from other areas like Dumaguete for example
I agree when I am in the PH I feel safe, but to quote crime stats is not gonna fly. Most crimes go unreported and to think that each BRGNY is keeping track of detailed crime stats is a stretch, even if that were so, I wouldn't put it past some to fudge any numbers. So to compare crime stats between the PH and a place like US or Canada where crime reports are completed very differently is almost a moot point.
Look into San Francisco, New York and many areas. You'll be stunned how few crimes get reported. Police wouldn't even come out and take a report when I trailer and Bobcat were stolen. Here in my area I asked my friends one a school teacher 42 and a jeepney driver 56 who is very involved in the community. In their lifetime they can not remember a single crime / arrest. No drug arrests assults burglaries not even shop lifting. That's my experience. So there may be a lot of truth in what you say but I am not first hand aware of it. I can say the same for Baguio which is not exactly province. But for never been here experts to talk about the crime rate as they do is ridiculous. That is why I did the research. I am aware there is a problem with crime ad drugs in Manila
There is an area in southern Mindanao where there are rebel problems up in the mountains. But the government has done a heavy crack down in the last few years
Wow, tjise stores look so clean and organized as well as great customer service. Thats unheard of in the states anymore. Thanks for showing what is possible as well as affordable.
😎👍🇺🇲 Whatever.... I plan on taking out a huge loan and skipping town. Travel to the Philippines and partying for days on end until I'm broke. Then come home and complain how horrible it was from bankruptcy court. 😆 I think people don't quite understand. In the Philippines, you have to make a life. Make the life you want to live. In the US. If you have an average income. An average life is on the shelf and available. Very little work is needed except for maintaining a decent job. Not everything is available for you in the Philippines. You'll have to find it, decide if you need certain things and figure out what makes you happy and content. It may take several months to get in touch with yourself and learn how to be happy again. I'm rambling. Just an option based on a guess derived from an assumption.😁
Hahaha... More true in some area of the US than others. My videos are about my experiences here and a life that can not be found in the US with the same income. Average Social Security where I am from wouldn't get you a one bedroom apartment. Let alone utilities or food.
@@Ex-Pensive_Expat I agree. I was just talking with my buddy about this subject. My rent is pretty cheap compared to the homes in this area. It's gotten so bad. I can even afford to downsize. Rent in a small less equipped home would cost the same if not more. It's not even practical to liquidate and save the extra money because it would cost only slightly less and provide a much less security. Other options are on the horizon.
