Otomedius is basically modernized Gradius. Though as I say that, Xbox 360 is already 18 years old in 2024, and Otomedius Gorgeous 16 years old. Shame they only brought the much less polished Otomedius Excellent to the US, felt like a completely different studio made it and everything down to the weapon effects and even sound effects felt off, whereas Otomedius Gorgeous felt like a real Gradius game, still a blast to play it in Xenia with all the DLC, or on JTAG.
Yo, Bionic Commando lunchbox buddy HYPE! I still have mine. Having grown up with Bionic Commando on the NES, I couldn't believe the franchise was being revived. My brother and I didn't have any friends that were fans of the game, so we felt like Capcom was pointing at us directly. "Buy these games you nerd!" As much as I enjoyed ReArmed (and the remake!) - it's a shame that these games just could not scrape past their faults. Much like many forgotten Capcom IPs, I feel like we are really missing out on some amazing potential. Awesome video!
Hell yeah, that's awesome! I worked at another video game store at the time so all my co-workers were laughing at me for driving all the way across town to buy a game we already had at our store to get a lunch box. 😂 I really hope that the series gets another chance in the future, but I'm sadly not holding my breath. I've only heard the soundtrack from this game, specifically Fillmore. I just wanna say that this game has some really disturbing, unsettling imagery in it, like Satan, for example. I'm glad I didn't play this when I was younger because I'm sure that Satan's design would've given me nightmares.
I say that Nintendo Stole Rare Ware's Magnum Opus and Glory by making Dinosaur Planet into Star Fox Adventures. Yeah I Like Star Fox Adventures, but I feel Robbed from playing the Original Dinosaur Planet. Rare Ware should have told Shigiru to Fuck Off with that Idea. But here we are, Nintendo still Profits while Rare, now under Microsoft's Greedy Ass, is nowhere to be seen or heard of.
Sadly Star fox is know dead died after spin of game battle for atlas and it’s one pityful dlc came out star fox as stand alone an indepdent franchise was dead. Is on life support that being super smash brothers but if smash ever ends Star fox will be official legally dead. I don’t think it has enough love to risk the wrath of nintendo if any fan games were to be tempted at all. Which is never going to happen ever. 😰
I would love to have a long dream like Nemo. All the longest dreams I have are extremely rare! If I'm lucky they'd be wet ones I'd never want to wake up from. 😅
I was never really exposed to this series until Brawl came out, but man Uprising was such an amazing game. I spent hours playing that game with my best friend.

It kills me that we'll never get to see the conclusion to Maximo's story. It makes me mad that we haven't even seen any modern ports. Capcom has a long history of snubbing their old studios, and it really pisses me off. Like when they released Okami HD, there wasn't even a reference to Clover Studio.
Yeah, that was pretty messed up. Nintendo did the same thing when they released Metroid Prime Remastered without crediting any of the development staff for the original version.
I do love this game series, but I would be lying if I said one of my biggest childhood fears wasn't the King. Everytime he'd speak I'd go hide somewhere
While I guess it is possible that the Vic Viper was based on the Battlestar Galactica Colonial Vipers, i always thought that the unique multi pronged front of the ship reminded me more of Buck Rogers in the 25th Century which was a popular show on tv at the time starring Gil Gerard as Buck Rogers.
The Gradius, R-Type, Raiden, and Aleste franchises defined an era of awesome shoot-em ups. Although I like 1st person shooters like Halo I regret that getting into a spaceship and shooting away against evil aliens somehow seemed to disappear.
I wanted to give the series a try, got the first trilogy and then Mia came back from the dead to solve her own murder. At that point I dropped the game, I don't even know why this video got recommended to me.
I remember in 2013 when one of my forum friends used Celestia Ludenberg as his pfp and introduced me to the world of Danganronpa. I didn't start watching playthroughs of it until 2015ish and the random explosion of the series when my favorite gaming youtubers (Jay from the Kubz Scouts who is THAT DUDE) started playing around 2018 I think (was so odd because I started watching him around 2014 so it felt like 2 worlds colliding. I would say my interest in Danganronpa is an ever-revolving door of "which interest am I gonna hyperfixate on now?" It's in rotation with the Hunger Games, makeup, Pokemon, and watching Twitch streamers along with the occasional "make art" (though they can overlap. Right now I'm in a Pokemon/Danganronpa hybrid, leaning more Pokemon at the moment). What I love is how this franchise, without an official release (and Kodaka moving on to different things. Good for him) still has new content in the form of similar games and fangans.
Fun fact: I don‘t know if someone already mentioned it, but the first Ace Attorney game had already been ported once to IOS before the 2012 HD Trilogy. It was basically just the DS game, but with some UI changes, so that it could be properly played on IOS devices
I haven't played many shoot 'em ups, but I did play Gaiares emulated when I went through a phase of (re)playing mega drive (genesis) games via Kega fusion. I think I tried the game due to its unusual title and got drawn in by the initial stage music and weapon stealing mechanic. The difficulty kept me coming back, though I was certainly stuck for a long time on mission 5 (the number of things to dodge with the icebergs and fireballs) and the bosses of missions 5 and 6 were pretty damn brutal. but after numerous attempts I kept going further. Felt pretty good to finally finish it. I find it amusing to learn the reason for the game's difficulty - I had assumed shmup players were just all seasoned genre veterans by the time the game was released (which I guess may often have been the case) so I'm kind of surprised to read some players never finished it
That’s awesome you finally saw it through to the end! This game is definitely pretty mean even early on. During the late 80a/early 90s there were a lot of shmups that cranked up the difficulty so much they became notorious for it (Gradius III arcade is a big one) since shmup players were becoming so skilled.
Honestly, Nintendo needs to revisit their approach with Star Fox Assault. It took the story in an interesting new direction, and while the on-foot segments were divisive and ultimately arguably a failed experiment, the more traditional gameplay segments were fantastic. It says something when one of the worst things you usually hear about the game is that it was too short. Their insistence on "experimenting" with the gameplay backfires more often than not. Adventures was a completely different Genre that clashed horribly with the series identity, and people resented the Star Fox elements for overtaking and overpowering the more interesting Dinosaur Planet story beats. Command... simply read like bad fanfiction, and had repetitive gameplay with no variety, and it having multiple endings that nearly all seemed to want to be a finale for the series in general did nothing to win over fans of the series. And then Zero... Zero could have been _fantastic._ The Wii U killed Star Fox Zero, and I cannot think of any other way to say it that captures what happened so succinctly. Everything else about it was great, even if it was another retelling of the Lylat War.
