Okay, I’ve always scratched my head about the obsession around the kislux book totes and their practicality, but this one is adorable!! Congratulations
I find the space between the shelf and the easel/painting surface to be a " long ways away"...cn't see my arm being that long...sitting on a chair...with that table part there...and the easel way up in the air? Ya...I don't like that the height is fixed for the table part.
You could just use the top part and adjust the tripod to whatever height you would like and put the table on a different side to use as a shelf to store or things perhaps, but there are many great options available and you should be able to come up with a setup that works for you.
I am glad I am catching the replay. The new time is around midnight in my neck if the woods. Your community is so nice during the chat! I hope I can join next week.
@@Violet-ok3nl I posted multiple times in the very beginning that I mistakenly called Volcano Violet “Volcano Red” during the entire video (at least I was consistent). You must have missed the on screen announcements at the beginning, I realized it during editing at the very end and was not going to re-record the entire video. You are correct, Volcano Red is much more “red” because it is only PR108 vs this Volcano Violet that has PV62 and PR108. Sorry for the confusion.
Volcano brown is my favorite. I actually had a few questions about the Schminckes. Would you know if deep sea green can mix moonglow and shadow violet? I made a similar winsor Newton mix that I love mixing with ivory black. I’ve also never seen WN lemon yellow deep (compared to volcano yellow) and I live somewhere where Schmincke isn’t as accessible as DS or WN, sadly.
I really love your taste and style always so chic. My faves would be the kislux leather backpack and the Swarovski pave diamond ring so gorg. Thank you for your recommendations.
For Gouache I would use a sealed palette like this one from Meeden, the 33 well leak proof (this is the one I have my Mission Gold watercolors in), the gouache could still dry out but it would take longer. However, normally it can be rewet like watercolors. go.meedenart.com/3PuDVZW that is the palette and you could always use a porcelain tray to mix on if you prefer. I like the 3 well go.meedenart.com/44FvFg5 and the flat open spaced tray palette go.meedenart.com/4faAxic It would depend on the brand of gouache as to if I would dry it in one of the open ceramic palettes with wells and how many colors you are wanting to put into a palette would also impact which one I would recommend. If you do shop from Meeden, code Clark10 will get you a discount at checkout. I hope that helps, let me know if you have more info or questions.
I am glad it helped. I have more on the way and the big DS palette build out will hopefully happen soon. I will share pictures of the new colors on Discord!
I had thought about it, but the mix was born out of wanting the hue when I was using the colors I had on my MaimeriBlu palette, so I wanted to stay true to the original mix I created with that. I did get some granulation but definitely not as much as regular Perylene Green by DS gave me.
Yes you did and thank you so much! I'm not a big floral painter but I am loving how these colors are challenging me and helping me discover new mixes I might never have tried without it! I am LOVING it. Thank you so much Rob.
My apologies, usually when a pigment has a unique color name like that I say what the pigment is, like in the case of the PG7 being a phthalo green. The PBr25 is a benzimidazolone brown, which would be permanent brown by Daniel Smith, benzimidazolone burn orange by QoR and one of their new colors, and red brown would be the color name by Mijello Mission Gold to name a few. I am sure there are other brands that probably have it in their range as well. I would say you could try to substitute a PR101 or a PBr7 if they looked close enough to the MaimeriBlu Dragon's Blood version of the PBr25 and when I look at my swatches, the Daniel Smith Burnt Sienna PBr7 is not a perfect match, it is a bit warmer, as is QoR Venetian Red PR101 also not exact, but both are similar and ones I would attempt to try if I had those palettes in my hand and did not have the PBr25. I hope that helps, great question!
Thank you for your idea on the selecting the open stock ones. Even though I have the very large set, I am always worrying about permanence for selling art.
10:57 I am now curious about your plein air kit, after your tip abiut the tin with the sponge. Would you consider doing one showing your 2024 setup? @clarkfineart
@@berolinastrassmann I just recently shared what I have in my small bag for this summer. You can check it out here What To Pack For Plein Air Painting ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nI5vEZKT3zM.html
@@ClarkFineArt Ah, perfect. That's very kind of you. I am new to your channel and am still exploring your fabulous video library! I am off to see the video now. Thanks again!
The video starts with a scan of all the products and I did explain why this haul was happening because I wasn't expecting to do another this year and then we start taking them one by one by the 3:31 mark of the video when I share the items that were in transit but still things I considered part of the new products for the studio. Sorry if you felt it was longer to get into the items on hand, but thank you for watching.
Love your mixing videos! I have over 150 M.Graham and Daniel Smith Full tubes abd fill my own pans. I can't find a label maker to labrl my half pans and whole pans. PLEAAASE, can you share which one you use? The Sharpie I use keeps rubbing off, and my printing of pigment names/numbers are SO sloppy. Please help?
i wish they seperated on the paper like they do on the pallet. i have moonglow and it's gorgeous on the pallet but tends to come out rather blah grey on the paper no matter what i try.
I found my Moonglow separated less than the Artemis did on the paper. They need a very wet wash to do that on the page. Still it never looks as good as it does drying on my ceramic palette. Think it needs a non porous surface for that.
It is so strange. I have had this color in my palette for over a year and now it is getting super difficult to find to purchase. I LOVE IT!!! It seperated into more pinky when you use it loosely. Use a lot of water and do not overmix. Just let it do its thing. Every time I have used it, I get noticeable more compliments on my artwork. I think it’s the pigment that is so eye catching.
I love Qor, especially for being trustworthy and making public all their own testing results. And not only in numbers, but also showing the swatches. ❤
For me I happen to love Moonglow and now you have added a new da Vinci paint that I need lol.😊😅 my husband is going to start asking if I'm just collecting watercolors because I've already collected most of the pencils😂
You won't hear any negative comment from me about collecting colors. lol IMO there are far worse things we could choose to collect. My collection also gets used and does not just sit taking up space on a shelf, not that there's anything wrong with collections that do. I think you will love seeing the differences between the two. They have the same pigments but definitely again IMO look and react quite differently. Both are beautiful.
Yes, Artemis! I 1st saw a RU-vid video 3 years ago by Kimberly Crick Art. She created a look alike by replacing the PR177 with a Quinacridone PV19 closest to the red color. Also using the best Veridian by MGraham . Turned out more better than DaVinci and Daniel Smith's version. However neither Moonglow or Artemis is a color that I use. It's not a favorite.
They are certainly interesting colors, I do like them, but there are plenty of grays out there that are more lightfast. I don't mind the two but I do reach for other grays long before I reach for Moonglow. In a sketchbook though, they are both amazing.
Avoiding over-mixing/brushing on the paper will help granulating. Brushing tends to work the heavier pigment into the paper. Also--much less pigment and more water help granulation, as does dripping, spritzing or sprinkling water. This was a good vid. Thanks!
I don't purchase mixes, so I am very interested in duplicating them. I do have the singles, so I will try it probably with PR206 . Maybe add viridian to rose of ultramarine, which I have mixed for my palette and see what I get.
@@eBookHoarder that would be interesting the Viridiam with Rose of Ultramarine! I bet it would be beautiful and granulate well! Also PR264 might be another option to try! Happy mixing!
For my biggest question, I had to wait for the end because I had to see it for myself. (How does Artemis compare to Moonglow? Lord, I don’t care if it is fugitive!) Perhaps the experience of a color, the original color is grounded in time and is experienced by the eye of the painter. I sometimes end up in the process over the product camp when it comes to watercolor and the pigments used. I’m ok with keeping my work in a sketchbook in this part of my art journey…thank you Angela for giving me the courage to experiment….I’m off to dig up some of my many color pallets…it’s about time- I must be feeling better.
@@alexserra9605 I think mw was just saying how they compared was the biggest question they had and had to wait till the end to find out, but (how I took it) was then loving the colors so much that fugitive or not, loved the colors. (At least that was my take on it) They are both lovely colors!
@@ClarkFineArt Exactly my thoughts and better explained, thanks! I’m sort of a steam of consciousness type of commenter…life is a full contact experience and sometimes my thoughts tumble out quicker than they are clear…no offense taken alexserra…I’m more trying to communicate my inner thoughts/journey in the moment after I have finished watching a post.
For my DIY mix, I use PR209 (Daniel Smith Quin coral) instead of pr177. Several utubers have tested the lightfastness of moonglow and Artemis, and they are not lightfast. The red pigment fades out and leaves it as a pale bluish gray.
I have seen the moonglow tests but missed any on Artemis specifically. At least we can mix our own versions. I find Artemis to look like it has more Viridian in the granulation and stronger reds coming through in the washes vs Moonglow. Both are beautiful.
I have also had good success with PR209. I use PR209 from M. Graham, their 209 is just Quin Red. Their PG18 is also the best of the best.... their Viridian is so much juicier and more pigmented then other brands. Mixing a moon glow with MG works very well. Also got an interesting result with their Maroon Perylene PR179. The chroma on PR179 is a lot lower so you don't really get the same red glow... you don't need much of it to neutralize the Viridian so you end up with a more PG18 dominated mix. I am sure a PV19 Quin Rose would also work out well.
