My instrumental shred guitar album, "Discriminatory Judgement", is available for purchase and streaming on all major music platforms! (iTunes, Spotify, etc.)
my ranking would be this: 1. Vulgar display of power 2. Cowboys from hell 3. Far beyond driven 4. The great southern trendkill 5. Reinventing the steel
To add to your point about BTBAM being part of the deathcore scene, I saw them open for Trivium with Whitechapel in 2021. To say most of the crowd was confused when they came on was an understatement. Very few people were getting into it cuz their style baffled most of the audience lol
Shame this channel hasn’t uploaded in a while. Despite not always agreeing it was nice to have one of like 3 succinct & interesting voices on the subject of metal to hear from. Hope you’re doing well Ryan :)
Dude I 100% agree with you said about Dreaming Neon Black, it is one of the darkest metal albums I've ever heard myself. Yet when it comes to the darkest albums of the genre, no one seems to mention it let alone any albums from Nevermore's catalogue. Btw, This Godless Endeavor is my favorite too :D
The production on High is the best out of any Def Lep record in my opinion. Each instrument just punches you in the face. The guitars have a rawness and bite that was lost on later albums. And Rick's drums sound like cannons. Plus, if you listen on headphones, the way Mutt mixed the seperation of Pete and Steve's guitars in the right and left ear is brilliant. This adds so much to each song. The two guitar attack stands out so much, especially when they alternate back and forth and then harmonize (the intro and verses in the title track is a great example of this), and it adds an entirely new element to the songs. They lost that on later albums and that was too bad.
I always like to include Me And My Wine with this album. I like that as an album closer. When I still listen to High N Dry I always listen to the cd re-release with Me And My Wine as the closer.
You are so spot on with your analysis. Most people overlook the really overt sexual lyrics to Let It Go. Alot of High N Dry reminds me of the sound of Classic Rock, especially On Through The Night- but there are so many other musical elements mixed in. No, No, NO, is like a mix of punk rock and metal. You have all the amazing guitar solos by Clarke and Willis. There is more soloing on this album than any other Def Leppard album. I think that influenced alot of later 1980's guitar solos.
I tripped on relentless reckless forever songs - as much as I love cob, Alexi is my biggest idol - I really hate this album LMAO I listen to every album in chronological order probably like 20 times a year, so I know most of cob songs by heart, yet RRF is just... nah, I truly hate it XD
Cant say youre wrong but the man Matt definitely has his own style and makes those go to licks sound good in all cases. I think in one of his guitar clinics he even said that a lot of his licks are straight up guitar exercises from JP rock discipline
i’m a fan born in 2001, became a fan in 2014 so very shortly after the release of hail to the king and yes i heard diamonds in the rough for the first time in 2020 and loved these songs, my favorite album is city of evil so i absolutely fell in love with this album thinking it was new material.
Before watching this: My four songs on here are Tension, The Fight, Dancing Dead and Until The End. I’ve loved them ever since I heard them since they came out, don’t really care for the rest. I think they could’ve easily made the final cut. Although Demons is pretty decent.
We got so many different opinions on this band my favorite band of all time and madness is by far the worst album it’s not even close if I’m honest is so cheesy and almost country sounding plush the amount of ballots on this album really bring it down and number 8 should be a war you cannot win it sounds really bad
Not my exact ranking, but I fucking love this ranking 1. It isn’t the same generic ranking putting vulgar at #1 2. It doesn’t waste time with the glam albums 3. And best of all, it appreciates the GREAT SOUTHERN TRENDKILL
But all the ballots are better then what if I was nothing I’ve seen All that remains 5 times and I would rather hear back to you or far from home what if I was nothing is the worst ballot they had
You can’t forget sidewinder that song takes you on a ride which has the most melodic acoustic guitar solo that is my favorite guitar solo probably of all time
My ranking would be 1. Far beyond driven (love this album) 2. Vulgar display of power 3. Great southern trendkill 4. Cowboys from Hell 5. Reinventing the steel
My ranking is: 1. The fall of ideals 2. For we are many 3. Overcome 4. This Darkened Heart 5. A war you cannot win 6. Victim of the new disease 7. Madness 8. Behind silence and solitude 9. The order of things
