I had one like this. Was on a buddies DRZ400E. The old ones actually have greese zerk fittings on them, yeah, on an offroad bike. Needless to say, water go it after they were broken off, and its stayed that way for years. Almost gave up up. Heat and more heat and let them sit over night in an oil bath. Then came out much easier.

Good job staying on it! Honestly, I wouldn’t mind zerc fittings on all bikes, pivot points 😅

Those calibers aren't heavy if you have heavy calibers, it'll stretch the line and then when you go pump on the brakes, line will act like a balloon and wont stop

What do you guys think? I have a 2000 RM250, in reasonable shape, not horrible but its old and not flash. Is it worth doing up like this (obviously not as well as mxrevival but with a full pull down and re-do) or being a 2000 not worth the expense as a 2001 to 2008 might be?
@mxrevival
@mxrevival 3 дня назад
Doing a personal and somewhat secret in terms of content 1997 RM250 Build. Your biggest hardship is probably going to be the transmission gears. They are extremely difficult to find. Everything else is still pretty much out there if not new on eBay. (exhaust valve assemblies, etc..) I would take it all apart first and find out what you need, then then make the call on how far you want to go.
@roostfezza7563

@@mxrevival thank you! Interesting about the '97. That bike worth it with the twin chamber conventional forks alone. Yes I have heard about the trans on the 99-2000. Im going to ride the bike this weekend and then decide if its a keeper.

Every part that you’re putting on that RM is awesome! But my favorite is definitely the black hardware! Seems like a small thing but the contrast it provides against that shiny vapor blasted metal takes this build to the next level! I hope the winner of the bike truly appreciates the insane amount of work and detail that’s gone into making it perfect!

Do you ever get whining from your transmission? Goes away when the clutch is engaged, and is consistent with engine speed. Doesnt seem to have any adverse affects,but its loud enough to be distracting.

No, but you may want to check your bearings associated with the clutch basket and the throw out rod

Great tutorial on the install and patience needed. Cleaning this valve assembly should be a regular part of routine. Change your piston and rings while you have cylinder off clean the valve. mxrevival showed you the basics,now take the few extra steps and clean that valve assembly.

I appreciate your attention to detail and this radiator video is great. 👍

I have never messed with power valves before and initially when you showed all the parts layed out, I was thinking that it was going to be pretty complicated. But watching you install them, you did an excellent job of explaining each step and put plenty of information in as to why and how you are doing things. I now know, that I would not have an issue taking on that job in the future if it ever came up for me. Appreciate this video and the bike looks sick!!!

I found the best way to straight out the wiggles after running the fin straighter is to get some tweezers and finish up the job it takes a while but it turns them back to new looking and I’m stoked that you found out about cms it’s hard to find a good new rm250 parts if I have any problems with mine I will know where to go

Much like yourself, I’ve always had a soft spot for the ole RM-Army so I always get excited for any zuki content, especially when it’s from the best builder on RU-vid, Mr. mXrevival himself. You introduced me to vapor blasting and I fell in love with it. Also you have sparked an idea of my own I would love to see come true one day. It’s simple really, build bikes like you, but instead of “raffles” I want to find that family that can’t quite swing Christmas this year. I truly believe any form of moto is the best sport in the world. Why not help spread the culture and passion around some. Maybe one day we could do a build together! Keep up the “Bitchin” work, the heavy metal, and childish shenanigans! Also I have no idea why I’ve been watching your builds for years and never sub’d…. Much apologies…..

One little tip for some of the first timers. When assembling the power valves and you have certain parts that are “right” or “left” specific and you’re unsure which side is which, you can usually find on the cylinder “R” for right or “L” for left stamped on the cylinder. If you notice in this video you will see the R or L stamped when Uncle Chuck is assembling the cams in the power valve.

This exhaust valve system is totally crazy and over-engineered. Rotax has a blade, a spring, a steel wire and a solenoid if you go for the electronic valve. Or a blade, a spring, a rubber membrane and the exhaust pressure if you go for the pneumatic valve.

You know what’s funny is they changed the style every year for quite a long time too! Hahahaha constantly reinventing the thing.

I love the attention to detail. It seems to me that sometimes some people did not appreciate the two strokes back when and that’s why you can find so many ragged and tattered machines today. Now that many manufacturers are no longer making these amazing two strokes, people are realizing what they are missing. This has brought about a revival in the two stroke machines where people are going all out with builds. Personally, I love it. To my knowledge, the first party that really got into the restoration of special race bikes was St. Neots in the UK. I have owned a number of bikes over the decades and only 3 have been four strokes (cbr900rr, gsxr750, and a DRZ400S). I have two stroke motocross bikes and two stroke street bikes. I don’t think I will ever own another four stroke motorcycle again. I don’t care what the manufacturers add do with traction control, wheelie control, antilock brakes, or anything else they dream up. All of my interest and money goes towards two strokes only. Builds like this RM250 inspire me to take care of my motorcycles and to go all out with my builds. Thank you for your inspiring attention to detail.

The grease catches the debris and eventually ruins the seal, if you don’t use grease you don’t notice the debris making it past your seals and slowly destroying your suspension

3 foot pounds is 36 inch pounds of torque. A simple calculation is multiply the foot pounds by twelve to get the inch pound equivalent. Inch pound torque wrenches are great for this type of work. Hope this helps someone. Another great video Charles!!!

Hard work and attention to detail pays off you made me do a complete rebuild on a rm 125 2002 and came out like its a brand new bike for real. Everything down to the bolts are brand new. Vapor blasting is one of my fav times as well. Thanks for the blackout tricks btw. Makes the bike i think. The 125 is the pussed off yellowjacket and the 250 is the pissed off hornet lol. Cant beat the fun of either. Suzuki needs to go back to 2 stroke they would deff make profits on thete end guarentee what you all think.

This is my first comment on this channel, as well as a new subscriber to your channel. I absolutely love motorcycles of all kinds, but I've only ever owned street bikes(crotch-rockets) and have always wanted a dirtbike/MX bike since I was a little boy growing up in the 80's. I absolutely love the fact that you're fixing up these older bikes!!! Astonished that these "older" bikes are even still around, let alone restored and/or given away. God bless and great job!!!
