Hi every one my name is Kate Bonnie, I am a qualified fashion designer, photographer and makeup artist and an aspiring visual artist. Photography and art are my main things and mostly what my channel will be made up of. I love to drive, I am always up for the next adventure and I will take you on plenty of adventures in my videos. I keep it real I am just me. I hope you like my videos and subscribe to my channel, however I do this to express not to impress. thank you :)
@@zoewhiteart7676 thank you Zoe, I am really happy with it ❤️ oh yeah the place was incredible, so much to look at there every rock was super unique. Thank you so much 🥰 you're lovely!!
I always love watching your painting videos and your talking through how you figure out what is working, or deciding how to take “artistic license” making changes so it still looks like the landscape you are painting. What a nice job you did remaking those rocks the way you did! That seemed like a lot of work but worth it in the end. It also looked very cold there though the sun did make an appearance. Those rocks are so unique…so many different textures…some smooth, some spikey. Wow! I would love to visit there sometime. Thank you for sharing your travels and painting adventures with us.😊
@@NancyTipton-u8e thanks Nancy 🥰 from memory it actually wasn't too cold that day but as a general rule that area is always cold. Yes if you get the chance it certainly is a beautiful place to visit and the rocks are really interesting there, it's a fairly quiet beach too! Thank you for watching 😊
Just out of curiosity, is that super-flat, flowy rock formation igneous rock, from volcanic lava flow? Bob Ross used to say with your first tube of paint, you get an artist's license! Looks like yours came in pretty handy with that subject, which basically looked like the deck of an aircraft carrier, minus the fighter jets, equipment and crew...just flatness for miles. I think you made the right call - that huge flat rock surface was ripe for a redesign, and you pulled it off!! Your way looks great, and it still looks like the same locale! Great job as always!!
@@DQ_ArtGroupie I actually don't know, there are lots of dormant volcanoes and volcanic rocks a little further away probably a couple of hours drive from there, it certainly does look like it could be, I hadn't even thought about it. Yeah I looked at it and went ohhhh book this isn't translating, time to change it. Thanks so much 😊 I am super happy with the results.
@@petergates7962 thank you so much Peter 😊 I am very pleased with it, I really enjoy painting rocks, every now and then I come across rock structures that are a little trickier to paint.
@@neilsmith1688 thank you, my pallet colours are the same every time, white, burnt sienna, burnt umber, ivory black, lemon yellow, cad yellow, crimson, cad red, Phalo blue, ultramarine blue, every now and then I might have another colour but not often, I mix all my colours from that.
@@zoewhiteart7676 thanks heaps Zoe, thankfully oil paint isn't really effected by rain like other paints. I am so happy with the sea in this one!! Thank you so much 🥰
Wow! You are the ultimate plein air painter! No weather, wind or rain or shine will stop you!👍 Your painting shows every detail so well. The shallowest part of the water is color-perfect! You outdid yourself on this one…maybe “weather intimidation” works? Just kidding of course!😂 As always, another amazing painting. Thank you for sharing with us.😊
🤣🤣🤣🤣 weather intimidation 🤣🤣🤣 ah that's a classic Nancy 😂 I would rather nice weather 🤣 thank you so much 🥰 I am very happy with the detail in this one. Thank you ❤️
@@Kate_Bonnie 😆it definitely can be fours seasons in one day in Victoria. It's can be nuts. This time of year, the trampolines wouldn't even be open in Lorne.
Suffering for your art, or at least freezing for your art in this case!! Beautiful result, once again where you triumph over huge distractions and capture an amazing amount of detail. I'm glad you got your GoPro umbrella back, and that you were able to soldier on without it to finish the painting. Great stuff!!
@@DQ_ArtGroupie same difference right! Hahahaha I really don't enjoy the cold. Thank you so much 🥰 I am very pleased with this one! Me too, it was a little risky getting it back, but worth it, I do need to buy a new umbrella for my GoPro actually that one's had a beating. Thank you 😊
@@Kate_Bonnie btw, you were wondering aloud how people bear the cold of Victoria. Another landscape artist I follow, Annabelle Lee or @annabelleleeartist, is based in Victoria, and her practice seems more studio-based. Maybe you and she could exchange ideas sometime.
Oh Kate, what an absolutely “Bonnie” painting. You are looking more and more masterful with your paintings. I absolutely love the early morning sky colors, the blue of the lake and the trees growing in the lake. I hope you are feeling very proud of this one…it’s definitely impressive. Thank you for sharing such beautiful views through your paintings. 😊
@@NancyTipton-u8e awww 🥰 thanks Nancy! That's so kind of you! Early mornings are so beautiful to paint 😍 I am very happy with this one!! Thank you for your lovely comment 😊❤️
Another lovely piece! Trees turned out great and I love what you did with the sky. I gotta say, I wasn’t super impressed with the scene (at least as it looked on camera) but you turned it into a wonderful painting. ❤❤
@@zoewhiteart7676 thanks Zoe 🥰 it certainly was a beautiful spot. There is a fairly famous old Australian movie that was made here.... But they didn't show the pretty spots 🤣 they would say 'ah the serenity' and then show the powerlines 🤣
Wonderful painting Kate. When the light changes so quick do you focus on doing the shadows first. I've wondered what the best way to paint at that time of day would be. Love the colour of the flowers, so cool.
@@bluedogbluey6742 thank you 😊 when the light is changing fast it helps if the sun is to the side of your subject because that slows it down a little. I've never paid that much attention to my order though. The flowers were so pretty, I love orange!!
How's the serenity hahaha What a movie, classic! The ol' cockies were in full screech mode. Love your painting, the trees look fantastic. It would have been hard to get the light down with it changing so much. You forgot to do the Bonnie Doon song...
@@bluedogbluey6742 it is a great movie! Yes they were noisy as 🤣 thank you so much I am so pleased with it! hahaha oh no I sung the Bonnie Doon song to myself in the car on the way.... Off camera.... To save all your ears 🤣 "we're going to Bonnie Doon" 😂 I should have included it in the video!
Is the name thing a coincidence? Nice job capturing the sky and lake colors before they changed completely on you. They look great behind your trees. The dark red looks great under the lighter green and yellow tones in the leaves. Nice job on the painting, especially since the board made detailing your trees that much tougher. Your noisy birds reminded me of a very special episode of "Happy Days" where Fonzie decides to sleep outside in the woods when it's really dark out. Slowly the animal noises start to escalate to a loud and unnerving degree, and finally Fonzie sits up and yells "COOL IT!!" at which point all the noises fall silent and Fonzie returns to his nap. Not sure how that would have worked on those noisy birds, but I'm sure I would have been tempted to try it.
@@DQ_ArtGroupie hahaha yes the name is coincidence that its the same as my last name 😂 thanks so much! It was a gorgeous sunrise!! Yes the red undertones really helped the leaves to pop. Thank you so much!!! Hahahaha 🤣 that's a funny story, I don't think that would work for these birds 🤣 but if I had of heard this story before maybe I would have given it a go!
@@neilsmith1688 oh I never do, but my standard pallet is titanium white, burnt umber, burnt sienna, ivory black, lemon yellow, cad yellow, crimson, cad red, Phalo blue and ultramarine blue. Sometimes I may as an extra colour or two but more or less that's what I use and mix the rest.
It's beautiful Kate and I just love ❤️ the way interturpret a word even if it is not working sound it out. Beautiful area for more reasons than one kind regards Neil
You are a real trooper to get set up in the cold and before sunrise. Thank you for doing that so you can share your painting video with us. I understand your redoing your foreground several times. I admire how you kept at it until it became cohesive with the rest if your painting. Sometimes I struggle with an area and tend to overwork it (when using watercolor). When all else fails, I have been known to wash the paint off under the faucet, let it dry and try again. 🤪 Hope you had a warm rest of your day.😊
@@NancyTipton-u8e thanks Nancy 😊 this certainly was a chilly one! You're welcome 😊 I'm so glad you enjoy my videos! Oh yeah with water colours washing it off works with oils sometimes I scrape it all off with a pallet knife, that doesn't happen often. Thank you 😊💕
Lovely painting Kate. Really love how you did the modeling in the mountains. Congratulations on finding a good solution with daisies. And so many of my own paintings there’s always something that just doesn’t seem quite right and it’s so nice and gratifying when you can find a solution.❤
have you tried covering parts of your board with paint and turpentine? I think trying so with brush can give a super fast coverege and color on your board/canvass which you can work on. This would speed the painting so much and after that you could use palette knife for the rest of the painting. Would be handy for mountains in this painting.
