Some of the imported string is pretty stretchy and doesn't work very well for blind repair. We recommend the string we carry on our website: fixmyblinds.com/collections/lift-cord-string
The opposite end of the clutch end is giving me difficulty reinstalling in the bracket. I can’t get the hook that is supposed to latch in the end won’t catch. What to do?
Hi! Is the hook bent or broken? If you need further assistance, please email me a few pictures of the bracket and the end plug. Our email address is service@fixmyblinds.com.
We have the pliers you need available on our website at this link: fixmyblinds.com/products/decomatic-bali-graber-vertical-blind-carrier-clip-removal-tool-green.
@@fixmyblinds Sorry, but there has to be another way than paying $20 Canadian to fix one single piece of my blind so I can put in a new one. What an idiotic design.
If you need any help, please send us some pictures of your specific brackets and we can provide instructions about how they work. Our email address is service@fixmyblinds.com.
To get the brackets off of the top rail, squeeze them towards the rail so you can unhook them from the top first. They are a little tricky to work with!
When your vertical shade has 2 sets of holes, both ends of the string end up on the same side (the moving side). When the shade is stacked open, both ends of the string lay under the upper rail, so that as the shade is closed, one end is connected to the upper set of holes while the other end is connected to the lower set of holes. My shades have 4 plastic guides, with a small bar across one side and a small hole. Three of these glides point toward the center of the shade, while the 1st one points up. The shade is strung by starting at the upper moveable rail, coming down the shade to the upper set of holes with the string going under the small bar on the glide, going through the small hole in the glide (the small hole being pushed into the holes of the fabric), going though the set of holes in the fabric through the small hole in the glide and then under the bar in the glide, going down the shade to toward the lower set of holes under the bar and through the hole of the glide, coming back through the lower set of holes to the side that you started on going through the hole and under the bar of the glide, and both ends of the string going back up to the top. One end of the string is anchored to the end plate, the other end of the string loops through the same end plate and is attached to the tension clip. There are 4 end caps that go on the top and the bottom of the vertical rails. One of these clips has a small metal horizontal bar in the middle of it. This is one one that goes on the top of the moving side. The two ends of the string thread through the clip and run over this metal bar.
Hi there, we have a separate video that shows how to replace the flat lift tape in a shade like this. You can see it at this link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vnDjoq-vNC4.html.
Thank you so much for this video. I purchased the pliers and some replacement clips, and I couldn't be more thrilled. I was able to remove and replace the broken clip; it was easy peasy. Thanks again!!
Useful video thank you. I need to know what size cord I needs to buy . I was looking at 1.8mm and 1.0mm. Can you direct me what one to buy for my wooden blinds like urs in this video? Thank you
Hi there! This guide will help you measure the string to get the size your blind uses: fixmyblinds.com/pages/how-to-measure-the-diameter-of-lift-cord-and-string. Then, you can purchase that size right on our website.
Original Comment was in 2022. But, I Hit the Wrong Key and Deleted it. WELL DONE JOB. This is a GREAT Video. The one Thing you Missed was the Spring Clip on the Other End of the Rod to Keep the Last Blind on the End.
Hi there, There can be a few different styles of brackets used for roller shades. So we can best help, please send a few pictures of the brackets your blinds have and we can provide instructions. Our email address is service@fixmyblinds.com.
Hi there, If your tensioner doesn't look like the one in the video and you're trying to take it apart, feel free to share a few pictures of it and we may be able to help. Our email address is service@fixmyblinds.com.
Hello, this is great, however, I need other parts fixed on this Decomatic Vertical Blind. Is there a series for all the parts on this headrail? Specifically, the chain does not easily thread the end gear and rotate the vanes. How do I pull that end piece apart to see what's wrong with the gear? Also, it appears there are chain connectors (apparently the chain was broken at some point) and they appear to be close to the gear. How do I avoid that area of the chain going through the gear?
Hi there, If the chain isn't opening the slats open and closed very well, that indicates that the gear is stripped. To see if we have the replacement gear you need, please email a few pictures to us. Our email address is service@fixmyblinds.com.
Hi there, You can restring your blinds as this video shows. It works for blinds that open on either side. If you need specific help, please email us at service@fixmyblinds.com.
Thank you so much!! It's been two years in my rental I haven't had the wand attached (worried would break it- which I probably would have!) You totally changed my home for the better. Best video of so many I tried.
The tilt mechanism itself might need to be replaced. You can determine which replacement tilter you need at this link: fixmyblinds.com/collections/tilt-mechanism-buying-guide
Hunter Douglas has just terrible design here. It's so confusing and easy to damage a plastic part. It would be okay for this to be so esoteric if they were durable metal.
Hi there, Hunter Douglas does have metal Silhouette brackets now. You can see those on our website at this link: fixmyblinds.com/products/silhouette-shade-mounting-bracket-updated-metal-style
