असे म्हणतात प्राचीन काळी श्री बालाजीच्या दर्शनाला तिरुपतीला जाणे भक्तांना कठीण व दुर्लभ होते. त्यामुळे भक्तांना दर्शन घेणे सुलभ होण्यासाठी श्री बालाजी देऊळगाव ला प्रकट झालेत. आज देऊळगाव राजा चे श्री बालाजी मंदिर प्रती तिरुपती म्हणून सुप्रसिद्ध आहे. भक्तांनी तिरुपती बालाजीला केलेला नवस तिरुपतीला जाऊन फेडणे अशक्य असल्यास तो नवस देऊळगाव राजाच्या बालाजीला येऊन फेडला येतो. परंतु, येथे केलेला नवस तिरुपतीला जाऊन फेडता येत नाही; तो येथेच फेडावा लागतो.
देऊळगाव राजा येथील बालाजी मंदिर श्री लक्ष्मी व्यंकटेशाला समर्पित आहे. देऊळगाव राजाचा श्री बालाजी हा तिरुपती बालाजीचा अवतार मानला जातो. भगवान श्री व्यंकटेश, देवी लक्ष्मी आणि देवी पद्मावती ह्यांच्या मूर्ती पंच धातु (५ मौल्यवान धातू) पासून बनलेल्या आहेत. साधारणतः श्री बालाजीच्या मूर्ती भव्य,दिव्य व विशाल असतात. पण येथील बालाजीच्या मूर्तीचे वैशिट्य म्हणजे हि मूर्ती अतिशय सूक्ष्म व लहान म्हणजे अगदी आपल्या हाताच्या बोटा एवढी लहान आहे.
दरवर्षी ऑक्टोबर महिन्यात म्हणजे नवरात्रात ‘श्री बालाजी महाराज यात्रा’ हा स्थानिक उत्सव असतो. विदर्भ, मराठवाडा आणि देशभरातील लाखो भाविकांचे आराध्य दैवत असलेल्या श्री बालाजी महाराजांचा यात्रोत्सव अश्विन शुद्ध प्रतिपदे म्हणजे नवरात्रीच्या घट स्थापने पासून ते अश्विन वद्य चतुर्थी पर्यंत साजरा केला जातो.
अश्विन शुद्ध नवमीला; यात्रेचे प्रमुख आकर्षण लाटा मंडपोत्सव असतो. भगवान बालाजीच्या मंदिरासमोर ‘लाटा’ नावाच्या २१ लाकडी खांबांच्या साहाय्याने ४२ मंडप उभारले जातात. हे लाकडी खांब म्हणजे लाटा सागवान लाकडापासून बनवलेले आहेत. मंदिराच्या समोर असलेले लाटा आणि मंडप यांचे एकत्रित विसर्जन होते त्यालाच लळीत असे म्हणतात. ह्या ललित सोहळ्या दरम्यान, 30 फुट उंचीच्या लाटा मंदिरावर पडतात पण आजतागायत एकही भक्ताला किरकोळ सुद्धा दुखापत झाली नाही.
It is said that in ancient times it was difficult and rare for devotees to go to Tirupati to see Sri Balaji. Therefore, Shri Balaji has appeared at Deulgaon to make it easier for devotees to have darshan. Today, The Sri Balaji Temple of Deulgaon Raja is well known as Prati Tirupati. If it is impossible to complete the navas made by the devotees to Tirupati Balaji by going to Tirupati, then the navas can be completed to Balaji of the Deulgaon Raja. However, the navas made here cannot be completed by going to Tirupati; That's has to be completed here only.
Balaji Temple at Deulgaon Raja is dedicated to Shri Lakshmi Venkatesha. Sri Balaji of Deulgaon Raja is considered to be an incarnation of Tirupati Balaji. The idols of Lord Shri Venkatesh, Goddess Lakshmi and Goddess Padmavati are made of pancha dhatu (5 precious metals). Generally, the idols of Shri Balaji are grand, divine and huge. But the unique feature of Balaji's idol here is that it is very subtle and small, that is, as small as the fingers of our hand.
'Shri Balaji Maharaj Yatra' is a local festival in the month of October every year i.e. Navratri. The pilgrimage festival of Shri Balaji Maharaj, the revered deity of millions of devotees in Vidarbha, Marathwada and across the country, is celebrated from the beginning of Ashwin Shuddh Pratipada i.e. the ghat sthapana of Navratri to Ashwin Vadya Chaturthi.
Ashwin Shuddh Navami; The main attraction of the yatra is the Lata Mandapotsav. In front of Lord Balaji's temple, 42 pavilions are set up with the help of 21 wooden pillars called 'Laata'. These wooden pillars are made of wave teak wood. The combined immersion of the waves and the mandapa in front of the temple is called lalit. During this lalit ceremony, latas of 30 feet height fall on the temple but till date not a single devotee has suffered even, any minor injury.
