‘പൊങ്കാല' യിലെ പ്രധാന ചടങ്ങ് ദേവിക്ക് അവരുടെ വഴിപാടുകൾ തയ്യാറാക്കുന്നത് ആണ്. തുറന്ന സ്ഥലത്ത് അടുപ്പുകളും മൺപാത്രങ്ങളും ഉപയോഗിച്ച് പൊങ്കാല അരി തിളപ്പിച്ച് വേവിക്കും, അപ്പവും പായസവും തയ്യാറാക്കാറുണ്ട്.
ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രധാന പൂജാരി നേരത്തെ തീരുമാനിച്ച ശുഭമുഹൂർത്തത്തിൽ പൂജയ്ക്ക് ശേഷം പൊങ്കാല അടുപ്പുകളിലേക്ക് അഗ്നി പകർന്നു നൽകുന്നു. വളരെ വേഗം എല്ലാ പൊങ്കാല അടുപ്പുകളിലേക്കും അഗ്നി പകർന്നു നല്കാൻ വേണ്ട ആസൂത്രണവും സംവിധാനവും തയ്യാറാക്കിയിട്ടുണ്ടാവും. നിവേദ്യങ്ങൾ എല്ലാം വേഗം തയ്യാറാകണം.
പുഷ്പാർച്ചനയുടെ അകമ്പടിയോടെ വൈകുന്നേരം നിശ്ചിത സമയത്ത് നിയുക്ത ക്ഷേത്ര പൂജാരിമാർ വിശുദ്ധജലം തളിക്കുന്നതോടെ ചടങ്ങ് സമാപിക്കുന്നു. സന്നദ്ധ സംഘടനകളുടെയും നാട്ടുകാരുടെയും ഉത്സവക്കമ്മിറ്റി അംഗങ്ങളുടെയും വിവിധ സർക്കാർ വകുപ്പുകളുടെയും സജീവ പങ്കാളിത്തത്തോടെ ആവശ്യമായ എല്ലാ സജ്ജീകരണങ്ങളും ക്ഷേത്രഭാരവാഹികൾ ഒരുക്കുന്നു. പോലീസിൻ്റെയും സന്നദ്ധപ്രവർത്തകരുടെയും പിന്തുണയോടെ അവർ പ്രദേശത്ത് ക്രമസമാധാനം ഉറപ്പാക്കുന്നു.

The ceremony concludes with the sprinkling of holy water by the designated temple priests at a fixed holy time in the afternoon, accompanied by flower offerings. The temple authorities prepare all the necessary arrangements with the active participation of voluntary organizations, locals, festival committee members and various government departments. They maintain complete law and order in the area with the support of police and dedicated volunteers.
