I had a similar experience in Waterstones trying to buy a book that the young female didn’t agree with. I left the shop making no purchase and contacted Waterstones who did nothing, no acknowledgment or response. When did booksellers get to tell you what you can read meets with their approval!

I stand with Kellie and i have challenged such things by confronting men using ladies toilets and complaining that ladies toilets have become 'unisex', whilst still retaining a mens facility. We have a crisis of mentally ill people, who would side with actual terrorists and fascists, unable to distinguish between dangerous ideologies and reality. The intersection of transactivists, BLM, decolonization, support for Hamas / terrorism and climate change is becoming increasingly troubling. Transactivists like Jemma deChristo, a professor at UC Davis in California, advocating for the murder of Jewish journalists and their children as well as women in her youtube video "terf killer", are increasingly problematic. Others like Mika Tosca at Chicago Art Institute openly stating antisemitic views and calling Jewish people pigs are increasingly common. They've deluded themselves and others into believing they're not men, while deluding themselves and other trans people that Palestinians support them and their transactivism. Any parent that believes joining this community is going to improve their child's mental health has lost their own mind.

I worked as a Christmas temp at Waterstones once. The temps weren’t given lockers, had to leave our stuff out in the break room, where they were gone through and things were stolen. They didn’t care about that either.

In my local Waterstones a member of staff moved Helen Joyce book to the Humour section at the back of the shop up stairs, as far away as possible from the the Smart Thinking section where it was supposed to be. Saw the young male sales assisant do it with my own eyes. Mentioned it subsequently to the manageress. Hope she is man enough to do something about it !

If we are being honest the groups who act like the bad guys from ww2 are frankly most of your activists and movements these days. At the end of the day who's trying to shut down your ability to speak freely, which groups are pointing the blame constantly at others for their problems (just like the ww2 guys did), who's going after people they don't agree with to try to get them removed from careers and platforms? All the early tactics and behaviours they used are key boxes all of these groups hit as these days they can't actually prove the point they try to get across without drawing subjectivity into the mix because they know in reality their movements don't stand up on their own. It's not particularly difficult to misrepresent facts and draw subjective conclusions of your own through them - e.g. when we had BLM protests you could take the fact "there is a disproportionate amount of black men in prison" and subjectively interpret it as (just two examples): A) the black community has a problem with crime B) the police must be biased towards the group arrested the most Both stem from the same fact but widely differ based on how people individually interpret it - yet at the end of the day both these claims are assumptions, that is all. The fact underlying the assumption may be true, doesn't mean the assumption is without actual factual evidence to back that up. Activists and the media get away with this however due to the ignorance of the public and their willingness to believe what they would rather believe than actually face true reality.
