I'd love to know if you use similar techniques as shown in the video or do you do things completely different?

Tissue paper or alfoil works very well too

Very good point mate, foil is great but that's the missus stash 🤭

Thank you!! I have been eyeballing my armor to break up the “new” look. I have been wanting to add stowage, but not get too overwhelmed. I love the idea of the bit of plastic for the front to simulate the metal added on. Excellent!!! Thank you!

Great video! I've been adding as much stowage as I can fit to my Shermans, and printing a bunch of it. I love the masking tape idea, I'd been using printer paper soaked in white glue and water and that worked good as well. I was able to mould it into some shapes.
@paintingpanzers

Thank you so much buddy 🙌 the masking tape idea is so good if you want something that can take a bit of pushing and pulling. Printing is just amazing for stowage but I'm yet to commit on a printer ... soon though 😆 I'd love to see what you've done with your stowage!

Great stuff not seen the tape trick but have used cigarette paper and baby wipes before for tarps
@paintingpanzers
@paintingpanzers Год назад
Thanks a lot mate. Oh baby wipes is another good one. I like the durability of the masking tape though 😋

I haven't tried masking tape yet, I'll try that for tarps. I used some medical gauze on 40k scale vehicles but I found some cheap burlap-ish gift ribbon to use as netting over FoW Nashorns and halftracks to cover up the lack of crew. I tack them on with superglue then soak it in superglue till it turns hard, an Xacto can then easily cut off any loose threads or bits that hang off too much. The dollar store has some plastic (or rubber) fake moss that looks okay for foliage when superglued on, and I cut down bits of the round sprue as logs for getting them out of mud.
@paintingpanzers
@paintingpanzers Год назад
Masking tape is definitely a good solution for me. I've tried the old medical gauze idea but I always find it just a tad untidy or bigger than I need for this scale. I'd love to see how yours came up! Have you checked out my foliage video? Greenstuffworld make the best foliage for miniature tanks IMO! I know the moss you're talking about, it makes for great scenery items.

Very interesting. Another way is to cut off the moulded on stowage to create a clean surface or to put your own stowage instead.
@paintingpanzers
@paintingpanzers Год назад
Yeah, that is a great point. It's something I've done in the past but can be a little time consuming (for me) lol.

Looking at my company strength: Cromwell's, Sherman's, Panthers, US & German half tracks and ad hoc sections of PzIV's, Tigers, Bren Carriers, command vehicles, 25pdrs, PAK40's, 6odrs & ambulances all look as if they are straight out of the factory, some waiting for decals that are not in stock. 142 vehicles that require stowage...weathering...thankfully all 15mm.
@paintingpanzers
@paintingpanzers Год назад
WOW, now that sounds like a HUGE force. I'd certainly go light on some of the stowage but yeah, you just have to get some gear on those vehicles 😉

Good use of the tape as it is pretty durable. I got a chuckle when you said an old vehicle is one you were working on a year ago. I am working on stuff I have had since the early 1990s. 😃

@TonyAguilarFigure-atively Год назад
@paintingpanzers I am rebasing some figures I did in the late 1990s and they are still solid except the crappy basing, which is archaic by today's standards. The internet really has catapulted all our quality forward tremendously.

Hey i would love to do diorama sets with these tanks.. what scale would you say would be best for walls/buildings/sandbags etc etc
@paintingpanzers
@paintingpanzers 4 месяца назад
Great idea! I'm not sure in terms of model railway sizes but 15mm miniatures are the equivalent of 1/100. You might be able to get away with some HO scale stuff but that's more like 1/87 I think.

Tell me those two 25G drums weren't full of nicely warmed up petrol, right above a nice toasty engine... They weren't really that stupid right?
@paintingpanzers
@paintingpanzers Год назад
LOL that is a fantastic point, I honestly have no idea. I think perhaps a little stupid :P
@rosiehawtrey
@rosiehawtrey Год назад
@@paintingpanzers Well I can only think of two possibilities. Petrol, because the Tigers use a petrol engine; or water, because the heat from the motor would keep it nice and melted on the ostfront in winter. Neither are fantastic, but petrol a really bad idea..
@paintingpanzers
@paintingpanzers Год назад
@@rosiehawtrey perhaps it was common with the constant fighting withdrawals? Save as much fuel as possible in any means possible.
@rosiehawtrey
@rosiehawtrey Год назад
@@paintingpanzers It wouldn't surprise me, since I think those two did about 1.5-2mpg on good roads road in normal temperatures on the flat.. But of all places to put a huge drum of petrol. Hanging off a tail rack like the T34/SU series yes, but right over the hot engine block under a pile of IL-2 etc...?
@paintingpanzers
@paintingpanzers Год назад
@rosiehawtrey4379 haha yeah, I'm not sure. I did use an original picture as reference so who knows 🤔 perhaps it was in the rear and moving forward with extra fuel?
