Justin and John take a look at the Panzer Kampfgruppe set for Flames of War from Battlefront Miniatures.
It's a monstrous set of German armour contained in the set with Panthers, Panzers and Tigers all ready to make an Allied player feel unsafe on their side of the table. the guys are pleased with the additional material included in the set as well with bags for the sprues, easy to follow assembly guides and an A5 rulebook of the core Flames of War rules.

I have to say the 15mm is getting better and better. And I just painted my first 15mm tank. German of course and at the risk of being shunned, it is a Panzer IV. A good magnifier made a difference to really see the tip of the brush. I learned something new.

Picked up an airbrush just to do my 15mm german armor and boy does it make a difference on speed. I like the look of those janky side skirts.

I would have preferred the following in the Panzer Kampfgruppe box: HQ Panzer IV x2 Panzer Platoon 1: Panzer IV x4 Panzer Platoon 2: Panther x3 Panzer Platoon 3: Tiger 1 x2 Scouts: Puma x2 The box set would be $18 cheaper, and it would allow the player to better choose what he wanted to flesh out their Panzer force.

These miniatures are gorgeous, would really recommend this kit. 15mm tanks using the Two Fat Lardies What a Tanker rules is awesome fun. The Panzer 3 will always be my favourite tank though

Late in the war the Schurzen were made of metal mesh, as it was lighter and easier to produce and had the same effect as the earlier solid-sheet style.

That is almost an overwhelming amount of plastic. Pretty sweet to see that stack of sprues pop out of the box.

I like the direction Flames of War has gone since version 4 came out. Your videos have helped me decide which boxes to buy. I tend to use more armour

Those kits look really nice! Nobody near me plays flames of war as far as I can tell. Hopefully down the road I'd have a reason to build a WW2 battle group

kampfgruppe means (panzer) tank and (gruppe)group so it means tank group or company

Flames of War, only played it once and definitely had the wrong tanks as the vet killed me and then was like “oh you had those tanks I told you all wrong”

Bit too heavy on the kitties for my taste. That said, had there been an option for Panther As with zimmerit, I would be sorely tempted (which would be mildly annoying, since I don't play FoW anymore)

The Germans in WWII wished that this was the normal composition of any force let along the ragtag makeup of a Kampfgruppe gamers forget that the Pz IV was far more prevalent than Panthers and Tigers together.

Numbers of Panzer IVs built between 1936 and 1945 according to wiki: "8,553 of all variants[" Number of Panther tanks built between 1943 and 1945 according to wikipedia: "about 6,000" With several thousand Pz4s already lost in 1943 its save to assume that there were at least as many panthers around as there were Panzer 4s in the years 1944 and 1945.

And still in games the PZIV is out numbered by both Panthers and Tigers, not equal numbers. And the mkIV was far more reliable and missed far less time in maintenance than the Panther. The point is gamers tend to want the big sexy, not the common reality.

Was this reviewed in anticipation for v.4 late war books? I know my group is chomping at the bit. Mostly because they can't stand up to my mid war Germans haha, mostly the American armies!

Are howitzer tanks (Pz.II Ausf N, Sdkfz.234/3, Bishop etc) allowed to fire HEAT rounds in FoW and BA?

Ahhh...there is nothing like seeing the steel beauty of my favorite nations armor fist to melt my heart with sheer delight :) Awesome starter kit, i have been uming and arring over what might first 15 mil purchase would be and know i have found it. Tank you very much chaps! Also just to put in my two cents, it wasn't in this set but my all time favorite Panzer would be the Königstiger or literally the "Royal Tiger" or if you want to be super basic the Tiger II.
