Northern Lights, Aurora Borealis, or Norrsken in Swedish, is a magical phenomena. The Latin name Aurora Borealis translates to ‘dawn of the north’, Aurora being the Roman goddess of the dawn. Here are some clips of this beautiful, colorful and magical dance across the sky, as well as little snippets of what the Vikings thought about Northern Lights and why the Sami people - the indigenous people of Sweden, feared it and saw it as a bad omen.

Man, I can easily understand how people thought the lights could come from the gods/spirits.. it's so mysterious looking. Thanks for showing us this amazing part of nature! I am going to Sweden this summer but definitely want to go during winter sometime as well! :)

I'm in Alberta Canada and have seen them every month of the year. One year on Canada Day, July 1, it was barely dark and Lady Aurora popped out so faintly. They are truly magical every time you see them.

Oh, so beautiful! Thank you, sweet girl for this beautiful video. I believe (in my humble opinion) what we all just witnessed was the heavens declaring the glory of God and giving Him praise. Just today my sister and I were discussing prayers sent up to heaven on behalf of each other. She said, "Can you imagine what those prayers must look like as they ascend"? I said, "No, I cannot imagine"! She then replied, "I bet it looks just like the Aurora Borealis"........ Then, I see this video in my feed... Hej! I was born on the Danish border of Germany, my ancestors are from Skandinavia. I don't know exactly from where unfortunately. I feel such a strong connection to everything nordic. I plan to move to Sweden one day .. and I will see the Norrsken. When I see these kind of videos, I feel deeply touched by it. I want to know how it feels when I am right there.. I would probably stand and stare for hours and cry happy tears. It's the most magical and beautiful thing I've ever heard of and seen on pictures and videos. My husband lived in Alaska as a young boy, and was fortunate to see these dazzlingly beautiful lights up close, like you do. I lived in Washington state as a young girl, so I only got a glimpse of them once in a great while; what a glorious light show the Lord God has made for us to watch in wondrous awe.😍💗

I've spent many nights laying under the stars, and in Alaska watching the Aurora. Those moments were among my most cherished in this lifetime; as for being taken, I'm so ready, there's nothing here for me.
