Hi Mark! Great channel- I've been watching your fair and positive reviews for years, and really enjoy them! thank you for all that you do to inform the consumer....much appreciated! Any chance you'll be looking at/reviewing the new 2022 Versys 650 anytime soon? All the best!
I've had my 2022 CB500X for a few weeks now and there are two issues I've got with it... 1: The Display - Compared to my old KTM 390 it is very poor. 2: The Ride - Every time I get on it, I can't stop riding because it's so gorgeous. It's like being on a magic carpet. I went out for a quick ride the other day and ended up doing a 150-mile trip without breaking a sweat. I absolutely LOVE this bike =)
@@daffybeauashblue I went to Sutton's Honda Tamworth today and they told me Honda aren't sending any new bikes unless they have had a deposit for one....
I picked up this exact bike and color wave as my first motorcycle. I was originally looking at the rebel 500 and the harley sportster and never heard of the cb500x. While completing the MSF course here in the US the course was held at the Harley dealership and they tried so hard to get me onto a 883 and pressing me about the HOG group they have it all felt so cult like and overbearing for a new rider who wants to ride as a hobby not a lifestyle. So the Harleys were not an option and I was down to the Rebel 500, went and sat on one and unfortunately as a 6' 3" person I hated everything about the position of my body. I walked around the showroom floor and saw the 2021 cb500F in black (I definitely didn't want an all black bike not my style) but when I sat on it I couldn't believe how ergonomic the pegs felt and the bar position compared to a "cruiser" style. I went home and did a ton of research and found the CB500X and two days later I had it brought to my house and its been three non rainy days of riding later and I have no regrets. Also the green color wave really appealed to me which makes me think master chief or boba fett haha.
You did the one simple thing that no one else does. Gave us your weight, height and inside leg measurement, and then sat on the bike. The seat height is the one factor that makes a buying decision, and you did it right at the beginning. Excellent.
I'm 6 foot 2 with a 31 inch inseam. I have a 2018 CB 500 X, and I like it VERY much. I bought it in late 2020 for $4500 USD with only 2800 Miles on it. It gets a consistent 71 MPG Highway, sometimes 74 MPG if I'm just cruising at 55. I sold my 2007 Suzuki DR650 in order to buy the Honda. I have NOTHING negative to say about the Suzuki. Simply put, I'm 67 Years old, and no longer feel like getting beat up on the Logging Roads, LOL! I had NO idea when I sold the Suzuki, that Petrol was going to go through the roof-so in that regard the Honda was a very good financial choice as well.
An excellent review of an excellent bike. I am slightly biased, as my current ride is a 2017 model and I love it to bits. It is fair to say that I have had a large number of bikes over the last 40 odd years and I have to say this is the best all rounder I`ve had. I have owned bikes from 50 cc to 1600 cc, some that would do 160mph, some that were classics and others brand new but this bike is so good in so many ways. It is comfortable, VERY economic and fast enough for normal, legal riding under any conditions. I can`t recommend them highly enough and will definitely upgrade to the new model, when the time comes.
I have a similar bike history, lots of bikes, from 125's to ZZR1400 and most things in between. Both the CB500 and the NC750 are such easy bikes to ride if I was only allowed 1 more bike to last a lifetime it would be one of those two models...
Hi Mark, I like the way you thoroughly review motorcycles which most importantly include how one can envision oneself on a bike by stating the bike’s seat height, your height and then positioning yourself on it. You touch on all the practical features of motorcycles that are important for everyday riders. Thank you.
Great review as always Mark I never find your reviews lacking in any way. All the info you need without the waffle. My main concern about the current line up from Honda is the ridiculous idea of the indicators on all the time. The issue is further enhanced at night.. One quick glance from a driver at a junction could easily be mistaken as an indication. It doesn't bear thinking about.
Thanks for the comprehensive review. If I didn't already own a 2017 model 500X, you may well have convinced me to buy this new model! Back to basics motorcycling in a really versatile package. As a long term owner I would strongly recommend this bike to anybody more interested in practicality than outright speed. Cheers.
I have a green machine also, 8 weeks now & absolutely love it. Over the many years I have everything from a BSA Bantam to a Pan European ST1300. loved them all but reckon that this bike is a keeper & will see me out. I do also have a T-Max 560. 😊
Thanks for the great review Mark. Covered all of the practical info for “real world” riding. Just ordered one and sweating on delivery date from dealer. Looks like it’s worth the wait. Stay safe and will keeping watching. Cheers from Brisbane
I have a 2019, and it's the best bike I've had. Comfortable, frugal, fast enough (unless you're into speed) and a good base for a great adventure bike. Plan to keep it a long time. Mine came with Dunlop tyres, which have worked very well. I'm curious how they compare to the Continentals.
Loving this Mark, I used to live in Poole and it brought back a lot of memories as you drove around, even went past my Grandads old flat! Keep up the great work
Hi excellent review ! I have a 2022 CB500X in Green (nicest colour IMO) for a week now and I must say it’s a superb motorcycle for under 500cc! Bought to ride over more rural roads as I have three existing bigger bikes all 1100cc and not so good on Irish twisted switch back roads! I’m currently only taking it up to 4000- 4500 revs and it’s a tight wee twin (95 miles to date )returning 83 mph! Looking forward to many more miles with happy smiles!
Hello Mark! This will be my next bike! No doubt about it. It ticks all the boxes, especially the fuel economy. I really enjoy the channel and thank you for your insight into the bikes you feature. Be safe and stay well. Looking forward to seeing the next video.
Wherever it is you're riding, I want to go there. Looks like a lot of fun. I've owned mine for a month now and agree with your review. Great little all-around bike.
With that large fuel capacity and incredible mph this is the perfect frugal commuter with todays high gas prices. Do like that Honda put a second front disc on the 2022. The power plug on the fairing should be on all bikes to power phone and GPS devices. When I was looking last year I considered this bike but found it a little too tall as I am the same dimensions as yourself. Your video of the NC 750x convinced me to move in that direction, and I couldn’t be happier with the decision. Rode my 2017 Trophy SE yesterday and happy that you influenced my decision there too. All the best Mark and looking forward to many more videos.
Great revew I really fancy this bike looks nice and light compared to my cbf 1000 06 model and my domanater really considering getting one but will have to get a test ride first but it looks the business thanks again for a great review.
Currently a rookie with a new cb125f heading towards my full licence next year. As soon as I pass, this is the bike for me. Done lots of research on many adventure bikes but this keeps catching my attention - your excellent and first-class review has convinced me once and for all. Cheers Mark, just subscribed 👍
Cheers Mark. Decided to speed things up a bit due to all this…theory sorted 2 weeks ago, Mod 1 passed last week, Mod 2 test set for Oct and then, all being well, 500X got before Xmas. Only done 600 miles on a bike so far but this bike has bitten me for sure. Thanks again for a superbly presented and professional video. 🙏
Very nice review! I was lucky enough to get my own 500X (in green) delivered just two days ago. As we haven't had great weather yet, I've only put 18 miles on it so far. It is one beautiful machine in person, I just love the green/black colors with gold highlights. I'm so happy that I have a full Spring, Summer, and Fall of riding to look forward to! Thanks for your review.
Great review Mark. I'd like the chance to test ride one of these to compare it with my 2018 model. I had a shot on the latest incarnation of the NC750x a while ago (manual) and found it an improvement over the last one (I owned a 2017 NC750X. ) Looking forward to your incoming review of that👍
Hello from Arizona! Thanks for the review of the Honda CB500X. I would like to get the 2022 model year. But no one in the states has them in stock. Love the videos! Keep up the good work!
Some dealers do. I just actually had a '22 500X delivered on Monday of this week, in Pennsylvania. Same green color scheme above. Honda told my dealer that at the time of my purchase, there were only 3 of these in the state of PA. Whether true or not I don't know, but they are not very common, I'm sure. I was lucky to come across one!
Nice one Mark I really like this one great second bike for the do everything jobs in rain of shine especially with it frugality on the fuel front I would have one and might yet never say never , but there really are some great bikes out there so choice is so difficult : D
You’ve really presented me with a conundrum now. I really like this for the comfort but also for the bit of off the beaten path I like to take. There are too many great bikes
Great review thank you. About to collect mine next week (I think. . . ). Very interested in the larger 1tooth front mod for touring. I'm unfortunately no mechanic, but it seems a straight forward job even I could do. . Cheers Andy 🙂.
Great review Mark as always of a sensible bike, I don't understand the trend towards upside down forks, always seems to me that if you get a leaking fork seal it's more likely to weep oil right down on the brake discs.
I have been looking at these for years. I think they are a great option if you don't need a mahoosive adventure bike with 150+ bhp. I was considering one for this year, the problem was it's a new bike and no discounts were available whereas you can get over £1,000 off a Tracer 7 so I went that route. These are a compelling option though if you can get a deal on one
Seems like the perfect bike , if you can only have one like me, i've decided to keep my current one one more year when it'll be paid off first though .
Beautiful bike! my local shop had a used 2019 with only 515 miles red in color I went ahead & picked up that. I traded in my '18 CRF250L rally I love that CRF but I do most of my riding on the street so I figured the 500X would be better it's such a smooth nice bike... I'm sure the new one is better with the suspension upgrades personally I think they just did the dual rotor brakes so it could be something else for the 🆕 model to have but the suspension was definitely a worthy upgrade (from what they say) personally I don't need it don't do much off-roading but I'm very happy with the bike itself I'm doing a 16 🦷⚙️ & then leaving it alone. Smooth, fun to ride fast enough for the freeway and I'm sure you can hit some decent dirt roads
Your presentation was/is so excellent that sales for this bike have skyrocketed, therefore, finding availability is difficult if not impossible. Thank You, I guess.
Hi Mark, I've watched a lot of clips of the Honda CB500X over the last year or so because I'm thinking of down sizing. I currently own a 1977 Moto Guzzi California T3 and a 2008 California 1100 EV. The EV is feeling a bit heavy around town and parking. I'm 66 years old and still want to ride. I'm 5ft 10 in and 70 kg, similar to you. I haven't ridden one but decided to buy a new one for March 2024 based on your review. I'm getting the getting the pearl organic green colour (love it) I'll let you know after the first service how I'm coping and what I think. Your videos and attention to detail are excellent. Many thanks Paul
Great bullet proof bike. I had a 2019. The only thing was the windshield. Perhaps I should have explored a MRA Vario windshield for it. Just a great worry free versatile “goldilocks” bike. I like the look and feel of classics though, like the RE 350 Classic you reviewed. For a longer tour though I’d take this more practical CB500X.
Great review, appreciate the highway speeds to see how the smaller engine takes 70 mph. Could I take this over a BMW 310 GS for the same use, but a little better on the highway?
Great review, and my one big concern is about the digital speedometer. I’m not a fan of them, and they seem to be on many newer motorcycles. First, it seems it would be hard to see the display under some lighting conditions due to glare, and second, I imagine it’s expensive to fix if it malfunctions. Everything else about the bike looks good, aside from the gold forks, which I see on many bikes and they look very tacky in my mind, but that’s a subjective, cosmetic issue. I like the lines on the bike and the efficiency fuel consumption too.
G'day Mark, of all the Japanese motorcycle 🏍️ Honda in my eyes is the best, l like the front fork protectors as the upside down fork the chrome section is closer to the road and would sustain more stone damage, it would be a bike all would love to have in their garage, cheers mate, stay upright and keep safe,Neil, in Australia.
I have the 2019 500R version of this bike now with just over 15,000 km and absolutely love it. Thinking of getting the 500X though because we have a lot of dirt trails that would be fun to explore so some 50/50 tires would really do wonders. The powertrain is an absolute honey -- perfect amount of power for in town, backcountry roads, riding with luggage and pillion, and freeway runs. I can get as low as 2.5 L/100 km when commuting around town, though my average is 3.3 L/100 km for the 15k km. One tip is to remove the small intake snorkel to get quite a bit more growl under full throttle (also softens up the throttle response below 2500 RPM).
@@markpulling12 I'm having a hard time bringing myself to trade for the 500X because I genuinely love my 500R. But I can't have two (especially two that are 90% identical). In your final thoughts video, would you please give your opinion on how the 500F and 500X compared in terms of comfort and fun to ride. Cheers from Canada and safe riding!
@@MrSatan1376 If you remove the seat and look right near the gas tank, there's a right-angle snorkel that directs the intake air. You can remove this piece (2 screws, requires removing the battery first) and it makes the engine sound more open and a bit louder when you give it throttle (no change at idle or gentle throttle).
Hello, another addition. I noticed they added flash to pass trigger on the switch unit good to see. With the suspension, braking and the available Red color, I'm looking at trading over to the 22 from my 21 model.
Another good review, but you forgot to talk about the mirrors! First time ever I think in watching all your reviews over the years ;@). Looks great vfm and usual Honda build quality. Shame the screen isn't adjustable while sitting on the bike. Can't imagine the cost of providing this would add that much more to the bike? Also surprised that Honda of all the bike manufacturers has not embraced illuminated switch gear like Triumph and KTM which is so good for riding in darkness. The rest seems really good.
I like the colors. The price is just right. Display is pretty good ..I would prefer TFT but in most of the footage it looks fine....especially at night! I like the hazard lights blinking on a heavy brake, nice safety feature! The wind screen is a take it or leave it. I would probably switch it out with something else. Lack of DCT makes me sad. Lack of cruise control also makes me sad.... I have a degenerative nerve disorder and my hands need to take breaks. DCT/CC are must haves for me. Even if I didn't have such a condition, I still feel those features should be an option just for accessibility sake on every model.
Seriously tempted by this because of the 80 plus mpg but I don’t know if I’ll get bored of the power quickly, it’ll be my first big bike. My other choice is 650r but I don’t know if the fuel economy will bankrupt me, I do about. 250 miles a week.
Hi Rob ....yes I'd say so If you need a bike for higher speed with more power for longer journeys then yes .. but the adv is still great for everyday use:) Best regards mark
Lovely bike. I chose a Honda NC750X over this, though. Mainly because it's, also, a very frugal bike, is very low revving at motorway speeds ( around 3,500RPM at 70MPH ) Plus, of course, the 'frunk' storage, which is incredibly useful. I have just sold a CBR500R which has the same engine as the 500X. That was a very nice bike, too.
@@markpulling12 Looking forward to seeing your review. Mine's a 2018 model. The new one's better, I think, but not by enough for me to upgrade yet. I get around 80 - 85mpg on mine, depending on whether I'm riding A and B roads, or faster roads like the motorway. Have had just over 90mpg once on a steady ride back from Wales to South Bucks with no motorways. It's been faultless as, I imagine, the 500x would be.
@@Jaffa1951 thanks Geoff that mpg figure is amazing...I think the NC 750 would definitely be the better bet if you are planning really long trips as it's engine is relaxing at cruising speeds Cheers mark
@@Jaffa1951 I ran an NC750-X DCT (2015) for a couple of years. My journey was a 55 mile each way commute, 95% motorway. If I stuck to a rigid 50mph (I often would when traffic permitted) it was returning 99.9mpg. Utterly incredible.
Great review as always! I have the 2020 model and it's a workhorse. I'm thinking of changing it for the Moto Morini X-Cape 650. Are you going to review it anytime soon? I know it's already shipping in dealerships in UK. I need your holistic approach to have an overall idea! Come on, be a lad!
I'm gonna buy one. I think it would be perfect for Colorado. I noticed you guy's have small roads out there. I suppose that makes since because yall usually drive smaller vehicles. It must be rough learning how to drive a semi truck out there though.
Yes it is,I drive a small, ish van and some of the UK artic (semi) drivers, some of the roads they drive down shows you very quickly who can drive and who can't.
Hi Mark, excellent review as always 👌. What do you thing about touring with this beauty!? When you put luggages, pillion... Does he can manage with the power or to take a bike with more power like the VStrom 650?! Did you try duo with the cb500x? Thanx and cheers mate ✌️
Hi alen the cb500x is ok with luggage and passenger at modest speeds ....but if you really wanted to press on something like a tracer 9 GT would be better cheers mark
Enjoyed your review it looks a nice little bike, I'm coming down from bigger bikes as I'm oldy and its the size I could use. Have a look at the start of your vid, is the n/s chain adjuster lock nut undone? Might be seeing things.
