Today, we recognize our existence, form societies, and use language. We gaze up at the sky, exploring the unknown universe with such great intelligence. Humanity?! Introducing Lewis Dartnell's book "Origins," which tells the story of Earth that has allowed humanity to live in such a manner. I must say, today's video will be lengthy. Writing the script and figuring out how to edit it was a challenge, but watching it through will open up a completely different worldview for you. You'll gain a deep understanding of this somewhat challenging book, "Origins." Please watch until the end.
〈Book Review〉
☞ "Origins" stands shoulder to shoulder with Yuval Noah Harari's "Sapiens"
- The Sunday Times.
☞ Like Carl Sagan's "Cosmos," it encompasses vast knowledge but is more witty and engaging - The Wall Street Journal.
Comparisons with "Sapiens" and "Cosmos" are high praises, aren't they? Lewis Dartnell, the author of "Origins," is a researcher at the UK Space Agency, a popular TED speaker, and called a genius scientist. His previous work, "The Knowledge: How to Rebuild Our World from Scratch," starts with the question of what essential knowledge would be needed to restart human civilization if a catastrophic event left only a few survivors. An intriguing topic, right? It seems these two books are like two sides of the same coin, possibly hinting that "Origins" was already in mind when writing "The Knowledge.“
Today, I'll introduce just the key concepts from chapters one and two to aid understanding, because the truly fascinating stories unfold from chapter three onwards, based on the massive changes in Earth and the universe described in the first two chapters.
