"NASCAR's pre-race inspection is incredibly strict." *"If it doesn't fit the template, bend it until it does. Demonstrated in true American fashion"* As an American, that hit home haha.

Or you run a brand new body style they don't have the template for, and when they go out to the parking lot they find one, trace it's profile and find it matches perfectly. Which of course it does because that was your car too and neither are actually correct to the body you're running. Cause you're Smokey Yunick and you just think of shit like that.

that part is very American but so is the fact that other teams gave some parts and some mechanics to help the cause. we see that in the pits every weekend here in Texas.

Such an incredible race!! Not only that, but what a beautiful STP Ford Thunderbird Tsuchiya used! The Drift King honoring another Kings paint scheme, truly a match made in heaven. Such a shame it had its internal flaws and the crash during practice. I bet if the car was internally up to spec, he would have EASILY made a top 10 finish. Maybe even won... haha now THAT would have been legendary. In the end, I'm glad he had a fun time in the race. Very sad this was such a niche event that only had 3 proper runs, Nascar has alot of ambition that I feel we will mever see again. Exhibition races outside of the USA are a fantastic idea, and this right here was an absolute blessing to watch. Well done Tsuchiya, and his Pit Crew who gave it their all. 💙❤💙

So...how do NASCAR drivers downshift normally if the pedals are wonky like that? Do they brake with their heel and tap the gas with their toes? I can't imagine you can just slam the gears down without upsetting the car, so they have to be doing *something*. Edit: found a vid, yup, that's how they do it: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7DhtCbSayj0.html
@trevor4533
@trevor4533 5 лет назад
Modern cup cars have dog boxes, so heel-toeing isn't necessary. However, the transmissions are rebuilt after every race. The cars in this video require heel-toe, as seen at 9:14. But yes, I have seen an older video of a NASCAR driver heel-toeing with his heel on the brake, and toes on the gas lol.
@deidara1221
@deidara1221 5 лет назад
brake on a straight line while downshifting. trail the brake with left foot and gas with the right. since these trans on straight cut gears, once you get the car to move at first. you dont need to use the clutch at all. sure it may hurt the trans, but some drivers might use the clutch for less stress on the trans.

The transmissions are 4speed dog-boxes or faceplated transmissions. So you don’t necessarily need the clutch to upshift or downshift (although it if you did you can control wheel hop when downshifting by managing the clutch). Most drivers especially currently in nascar use left foot breaking during the entire duration of the race but if you aren’t proficient at it it’s really hard on the parts.
