I just recently reunited with my internet friend after 3 years of talking with him. He and I are really big Miracle Musical fans, and one night of chilling between me and him this song gets in my recommended. I never heard of it, so i asked him about it. He said he never knew this song existed. We both listened this for the first time together. One of the most magical moments between our meetup. Thank you, Miracle Musical.
With comments being reopened, I can finally talk about how this song is my favorite song to ever exist. Never thought a cover of an already incredibly beautiful song could be even better but here we are. Every time I come back to this song, I am filled with a heavenly bliss that feels like an out-of-body experience. The vocals and instrumental intertwine to make a song I will forever hold near and dear to my heart, for it means a lot to me and has stuck with me for years. I will never forget this song
I'm pretty sure they used to be open but they were getting a lot of harsh comments on the VOAC video, and because that video got taken down by youtube theres no reason for the comments to be closed so they got activated again
@@LucyWest370 what I meant was that there were a lot of harsh comments on the variations on a cloud video, so whoever runs this channel deactivated comments. However the variations on a cloud video got taken down by RU-vid recently, and since that video was why the comments were deactivated, there was no point in them being deactivated anymore so they've been activated again
Even if this isn't an official track on the tracklist, it feels like the natural conclusion to the entire Hawaii Part II album. It gives a hopeful feeling of finality. Two voices are singing now, and though a friendless tide has found the protagonist, he returns to his beloved in the next life. Together, once again, never letting go. In a sense, getting to see her again was the protagonist's candle on the water; the last light in the dark, cold sea that he drowns in.
Oddly enough, even though this is a cover of a Disney song, given the most often accepted interpretation of this album, at least as far as I'm aware - that being of a man who moves to Hawaii, falls in love with a girl, is framed for her murder, pleads insanity and then travels back in time before dying at sea - this feels like a fittingly bittersweet ending. I just imagine the protagonist and his love on a beach at dusk, his head in her lap as she sings to him as they finally come together again, even if it is in death.
Interesting interpretation with the physical time travel, I always thought the man (Simon, afaik) undergoes electric shock therapy because they try to treat him for his insanity, but because he wasn’t insane to begin with, it makes him insane, and that Time Machine is more of a metaphor where he’s looking back on his mistakes 🤔 But still, absolutely agree with that stunning image
@@phantompig my interpretation is that after he becomes insane he escapes he goes to the ocean and comits suicide (my interpretation of the first part of variations on a cloud) and then reunites with his love (my interpretation of the second part)
I don't imagine him going back in time as much as he's wishing he could go back and fix things. He travels out to sea in a deluded attempt to find his love and winds up starving to death as he finds nothing and hallucinates a happy reunion before having a moment of clarity as he slips away.
I feel like if this were in the proper album, it would take place between Time Machine and Stranded Lullaby. What Simon believes to be the ghost of his girlfriend is offering to guide him back home, reassuring him that things will be alright. However, this is merely a mirage, and Simon ends up more lost than he originally was.
@@parabab9510 i know its not in the actual album but they made the cover for a reason, it fits really well with the story and i agree with another comment saying that this would be in between time machine and stranded lullaby
[ LYRICS ] I'll be your candle on the water My love for you will always burn I know you're lost and drifting But the clouds are lifting Dont give up! You have somewhere to turn I'll be your candle on the water Til every wave is warm and bright My soul is there besides you Let this candle guide you Soon you'll see a shining stream of light A cold and friendless tide has found you Dont let the stormy darkness pull you down I'll paint a ray of hope around you Circling the the air, Lighted by a prayer I'll be your candle on the water This flame inside of me will grow Keep holding you'll make it Here's my hand so take it Look for me reaching out to show As sure as rivers flow I'll never let you go (8x)
@@ShenDoodlesi’m pretty sure joe once said that variations on a cloud was kind of a ‘track 0’ for hawaii part ii so it’s make more sence to have it at the beginning
This song feels like an opposite to Stranded Lullaby to me. I view this as an alternate ending. This is the ending to the interpretation of HW:II in which the protagonist is framed for the murder of the love of his life. While he’s adrift at sea, about to die from exhaustion, he hears his love calling to him. He sees a lighthouse so tall that it extends to the heavens. Bathed in heavenly light, and there waiting for him is his love who calls out for him to join her. That’s what this song is to me
I think it fits perfectly right after Stranded Lullaby. As he's drowning in the sea, he hears her voice, giving him the resolve to climb to the top, all the way up to Space Station Level 7 where she's waiting for him. The siren who "makes it right" in Dream Sweet in Sea Major makes this a perfect transition song
@I Can't Think of a Name it's definitely got something to do with the VoaC music video because comments were re-enabled upon it being taken down recently
The original song meant so much to me when I was a kid. I would listen to it while I fell asleep without truly understanding the lyrics, but now that I'm older and struggling with a lot of things (and a chronic Tally Hall fan), the song is so much more important to me. It almost feels as if it evolved with me lol, even if this isnt the original version.
I'd personally like to thank Midnight for making QUAHOG: PART II and introducing this song to me. Personally speaking, does anyone else feel like this is an alternate ending to Hawaii Part II? Like this song is a way of breaking the time loop in some fashion? I know it's a tribute song and probably has no connection to the album like Variations On A Cloud, but some of the lyrics just paint the picture of someone surviving some nasty tidal waves and are given a second chance at life.
I literally YT to mp3 this video and synced it into my local files on Spotify. It even included the thumbnail! But an official release would be way better, yes
@@MrDLBMusicI was trying to think of how the story would make sense with this as an alternative ending, and that works well, but it doesn't explain why there was a trial and what happens in murders
@@Shaeffen_ The Trial didn't actually happen, the Mind Electric is about the protagonist's brain torturing him as he wrestles with the despair of the breakup that happened in murders, in which the murder is more metaphorical for their relationship dying as they discovered what they thought they had in White Ball was unattainable as real human beings on vacation. In this interpretation, "Space Station Level 7" is about denial and hope for a future that isn't based in anything, the "Garden of Imagination" aka delusion expanding to cover over the pain of loss, which turns on the protagonist in Mind Electric, Labyrinth, and Time Machine. I think in the good ending then, he comes to terms with his own shortcomings and gains the closure he was longing for it Stranded Lullaby and is thus able to come back to her fully, her being the candle on the water that leads him back to shore now that he is ready to be with her fully as she is, not as he perceived her to be.
ive known this song for a long while. the fact that people are recently discovering it makes my heart happy. its so gorgeous, and so is the entire hawaii pt 2 album. It deserves to be recognized!! my biggest fear (as it happened to "Labrynth") is that this music will only be seen as a "trend". dude, miracle musical and joe hawley shouldnt simply be recognized as a trend. but, this is just my personal take. I think the songs are way too memorable, as the adventure with hawaii pt is an entire experience. it shouldn't be used as a tool to create popular tiktoks. ive been intimate with miracle musical's music for years, id hate to see it get wasted or misinterpreted.
i fully agree, i hate to gatekeep but the music they make is way more than just a popular tiktok sound. there much more to the music and to the story that the people who only listen to that 10 sec chunk of it will never experience and will never know. it hurts a little but i’m still grateful for the music and the album
i have mixed feelings about this song, i really like it but i kinda hate it does that make sense edit; nvm i love this song im cryuing as im writing t.his i love it
Isn’t it weird how we all just recently found out about this like hello? Wtf I’m a huge fan of both miracle music and tally hall yet never seen this ever
In general Tally Hall and Miracle Musical songs are very beautiful, funny, and very head bopping. Knowing a tiny bit of what this song about and who it’s for, Rest in peace’s.
This song totally just started existing, right? Someone better give me the backstory to how so many people had no idea this existed. Edit: 2:05 has such great chord progression. Damn.
the song was created 12 years ago but 8 years ago they sang it with her voice. This is the original ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VGbsrrkZm1s.htmlsi=BI5MhQ7heotADLLG
I love this song so much, for how beutiful it is, and because, while it is a cover, it could still perfectly fit into the story of hawaii part ii as it's also about a sailor getting lost at sea with the love interest somewhere else, in hpii's case the love interest is 6 feet under.
no, this song is not new. while i can't tell you why everyone is now just finding this, i can assure you it wasn't just recently made or re-listed. (i have heard it before, not on this channel, but on soundcloud/ in playlists)
I don’t know if you’re saying you’ve heard a similar song before or this exact one, but if you’ve heard a similar song, it’s probably the original. This is a cover and the original is from “Pete’s Dragon” and has the same name.
@@meepbeep2464If I recall correctly they’re either people who helped Joe make Hawaii Part II or just really big fans, they ended up dying in a car accident and this song is in their memory.
Wow I didn’t even know this exist, it sounds nice. Even though it’s random it’s nice to see this getting recommend to people and it’s getting recognition. It’s a nice song
