i wasn't born anywhere near 89' being a 2008 baby myself, but i swear as a kid i heard alvin talk to me. his words stuck with me my whole life. "you've got talent, you just gotta find it and hang onto it for dear life."
1986 was a challenging time for The Chipmunks. The creative tension between Alvin and Simon had turned in to personal animosity, and Theodore found solace in a bottle of Southern Comfort with alarming regularity. And then came the bombshell of Dave Saville's arrest on insider trading charges. But despite the adversity, they self-produced their magnum opus album "Sludgemunk" which went on to sell thirteen million copies worldwide and produced the smash hit Blondie cover featured here that spent an astonishing twenty-seven weeks on Casey Kasem's top 40 countdown.
I know this is an old comment, but it's because its played on a record that allows it to maintain the real sound, its slowed down to "16 speed" which is the speed the record is rotating. In other words, its actually slowed down, not digitally playing slower.
@@smonk7621 I'll second that the fact that this is a slowed down vinyl recording is why all the other "Sludgemunks" albums don't sound like this. They are all digitally slowed down instead of through analog means.
@@smonk7621 slowing down songs digitally also does this fine, where you proportionally slow speed and lower pitch. Try it in audacity. If you try to slow speed but keep pitch, you end up with digital artifacting which is what you were thinking of. Something like paulstretch will kinda sorta work around this by echoing the shit out of it, makes for some really good vibes depending on the song being paulstretched
I deeply love this, unironically. It makes me think on how amazing a change in tone re-contextualizes a song. It reminds me of Marilyn Manson's Sweet Dreams.
@@nonstopcooltop idk geography vs music trivia feels like a different order of magnitude, I'd rather my kid know where countries are than who first performed what pre-written song
This is the theme of somebody being forced to directly re-live some traumatic, life-altering experience that occurred at a roller disco in the year 1980.
The instruments were recorded at the final album speed, which is why they're so pitched down in this format. But yes, this is what the original unmodified recording of Dave singing would have sounded like.
This is unironically amazing. I can’t believe my favourite sludge band is Alvin and the chipmunks. this is how they originally recorded the chipmunks covers
such a brilliant reinterpretation of this song.. it's a great opportunity for a band to 'borrow' this idea and perform this cover live.. I bet Queens of the Stone Age could pull it off, among others shut up and take my money!
Lmaoooo. I'm glad that you think, but I think it's bizarre that it's taken from a chipmunks album. Throw in some of that reverb and you got yourself a banger. I have to say that I didn't make this cover. I just slowed it down and lowered the pitch.
this is from a project called "chipmunks on 16 speed", which is literally just the alvin and the chipmunks versions of various songs played at 16 speed on a vinyl player. don't know why this person is taking credit for, uh, any of it?
@@SwollenHero I'm not taking credit that's just literally how I did it lol. Chipmunks on 16 speed has definitely been around for years. I did the shitty version of it, lmaoooo.
Mrs Otaku same! I’m addicted to this and call me is already one of my favorite songs ever. I also love their slowed down girls just want to have fun a lot!
Ok, but in all honesty I find it funny that my favorite song of all time comes from what is essentially a shitpost about A popular kids franchise parody.
Thank you. I should stress that I didn't make this song and it was originally made on an Alvin and the Chipmunks album. The song specifically is from the 1980 Album Chipmunk Punk. This is just a slowed down version without their high-pitch voices.
Hey guys. So I hope everyone knows that this isn't my original work. I have other songs (or instrumentals more like) and sometimes dumb ass memes. I made this music video here for my mother's original music as well ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MYMR6YHxuSE.html I'm glad that you guys enjoy it, but it'd be great if you gave some clout to that song.

This is like The Chipmunks but if they were in a FNaF sort of universe. That they are actually not singing Chipmunks at all, but humans trapped inside of Chipmunk bodies. Or that they've been horrifically created. Gives off some strange vibes.
Ok, the FNaF reference may be seen as cringey, but it really does fit when you have the right mindset. Imagine "Springtrap's" situation; locked in a decaying room for decades, trapped in his own body, shards of metal pinning him down. This song does fit, and it's pretty interesting.
