Ethiopians are in my opinion the world's most naturally beautiful people. I was born and raised in the Caribbean an hold Ethiopians in high esteem because of the Emperor Haile Selassie. Bob Marley's song " War " is from his speech to the United Nations in 1963. The only country in the African continent that was not colonized by the Europeans. Ethiopian men and women defeated the Italian army in the Battle of Adwa.

I’m from the Bahamas Bahamas/Caribbean and I couldn’t agree more. I remember traveling and I meant this Ethiopian lady and she saw me wearing a common shirt r that is manufactured or sold in the Caribbean with Hallie Salassie’s face, and she was staring at me then proceeded to ask me how do I know this man? I then articulated to her his significance to Ethiopia and his influence to the West Indies/ Afro-Caribbean people via the Rastafarian movement and Marcus Garvey UNIA movement. She was so surprised that I had so much knowledge about Ethiopia and then being the only nation that was always free from colonialism. Ethiopia is symbolic to us, because of their resilience as a African people in showing the rest of us a success story in the midst of all the other tragedies that had and continue to plague the African diaspora, whether in America, Latin America, West Indies/ Caribbean, Europe and the motherland.

Raw meat beef in Ethiopia is different from other places. Raw meat is only eaten on the day the cattle is slaughtered. Raw meat will not be served if the meat is after the first date of slaughter. The beef should be absolutely fresh and clean.

Yeah, I discovered why people think it’s gross after my experiences abroad. You can’t eat a raw meat abroad as the meat holds blood in or etc., in Ethiopia blood would be removed while the cattle is slaughtered etc. Plus it’s fresh, not kept in supermarket for days with preservatives. You can even tell my the color /fresh meat in Ethiopia is bold read with yummy Yellowish if it got some fats. You can’t eat western raw meat, Trust me. I’m not even raw meat lover but it is what it is. Off topic tho: I also learnt Russians and Italians also eat raw meat but of ‘pork’ /not fresh tho: it’s kept frozen for long time etc., it seems good tho/. I think frozen pork is eaten in the west / not sure about every nation in the west tho dunno 🤷🏾‍♀️

Yes,we do it raw meat I would love to share the history behind it. raw meat was a war-time invention in Ethiopia - or perhaps “necessity” is a better word, given that troops that cooked their meats were sniffed out by the enemy and slaughtered in their sleep. Ballentine said the troops finally learned it was the smell of roasting meats, and the smoke from their fires, that gave them away. Raw meat, then, was an act of self-preservation during the Italian war that is why we are proud of it because it’s part of our history, And it's yummy❤ Raw meat dishes usually include slices of Injera, Ethiopian bread made from teff flour. Ethiopians will usually dip every chunk of meat into Mitmita - a powdered hot chili mixed with spices or Awaze, a kind of chili paste. Then the meat will be wrapped in Injera and eaten, accompanied by wine, beer or soda. Or አንቦ ውሀ/our own sparkly water/mineral water

Yay. Ethiopia my people and my country. Great video and thanks for covering. The coldest weather is usually July through September. The nights also get pretty cool throughout most of the year. Overall the weather is pretty nice (average around 75°F year round). Ethiopians have a different naming system. We are given our first name. then your last name and beyond just follows your father's lineage. (example, if your great, great grandfather's first name is Smith, your grandfather's first name is John, your father's first name is Thomas and your first name is Tyrone. Then your full name will be Tyrone Thomas John Smith etc. There is no shared family name similar to "The Demouchets" for example. Also, a cool side note--- when women get married, they keep their name. They don't take their husband's name.

🤣🤣 That’s only if you want to show off your ancestry. You are only required to mention your name then your father’s name. Some government forms might ask you up to your grandfather’s but that’s about it.

Great video you guys! Raw meat consumed in Ethiopia for centuries as delicacy. The beef came from cows raised all natural / grass fed and guys when you eat it with special Ethiopian spice along with some limes, it literally melts in your mouth🤤 It’s my favorite cousin next to Kitfo ( which is a minced raw beef with spiced butter) 😅 Visit Addis for sure , but Ethiopia is full of history. If you have the means, visit places outside of the capital as well. Much love!

Education at public schools is free; school supplies need to be met by families. Ethiopia is one of the oldest nations in the world with 3000 years of history.

The raw meat is just like sahasmi sushi eaten with a lot of spice sauces. BTW there are so many countries with raw meat dishes French, Italian, Japanese etc...... but in Ethiopia it has a history tied with the war with Italy. Soldiers packed jerk beef, spices and so many cattles around, they don't want the enemy see smokes from cooking. The beef is from grass fed organic so like he said it melts in your mouth.....

Between September 20 to end of December is a good time to go to Ethiopia. September is the end of the rainy season and the beginning of spring which everything is green and the air is fresh and beautiful. September also tge first month of in Ethiopian calendar also the beginning of Ethiopian new year starts . so going to Ethiopia between those time period is fabulous. The other thing you mentioned is raw meat. Yes we Ethiopians eat raw meat just like the Japanese eat raw fish as a form of sushi. The raw meat must be beef or got . no pigs allowed in Ethiopian culture.

One thing you should understand is colonialism changed most of African culture and indigenous practices in Africa. Ethiopia not being colonized, did kept the indigenous cultures and practices. The calendar, and the languages the traditions are gradually naturally growing with the society but not by western colonialism cultures

we love to eat raw meat with birds-eye chilly powrder mixed with mustard seed. It is very spicy. This tradition believed to be started during a civilwar in the 16th century. The kings army started to eat raw meat in order to avoid the smoke that could created while cooking and that could possibly lead the enemies towards them. But one thing you should know about Ethiopian food is it is highly affected by religion and culture and the food must be pure. Ethiopian do not eat a meat unless it is killed/slaughter with the name of God. Ethiopians don't eat animals died with a natural causes. Ehiopians do not eat pork. Both chrstian and muslim. Ethiopian do not eat anything that forbids by the Bible and the Qur'an. During a fasting season(there are 9 main fastings during the year) Ethiopian Orthodox chrstian avoids eating meat and any dairy products, even off the fasting season, except the two months after Ethiopian Esther, orthodox chrstians don't eat meat and dairy products on Wednesday and Friday.
