Watched the 1-4 tutorial videos. There's a Bagrass just a few hundred meters away and seed pods are within reach. Took a fellow Negros PNTE member last week to harvest some. I will be sharing your videos. Cheers!
Hello! Thanks for watching! This one's trunk is still pretty flexible even at at the bottom where it's starting to darken. We had a storm the past few days and a branch from a neighboring tree broke and blew onto this one and it bent it over to the ground right at the base. I was able to prop it back up and I didn't see any cracks. Hopefully it wasn't damaged to the point it won't recover. If they're in their pots still they'll stay fairly small compared to the one's that we've planted in the ground, so that could be affecting it too. Let us know how yours grows!
@@outofdangerproject I've bought mine inside now,I live in South West UK and it's just started getting colder here,I would say mine is about 2 foot high at the moment
@@thebonsaiprojectkernow What do your low temperatures get down to there? Baguio gets down to about 8 degrees C and there are several around the city. I've heard of them surviving occasional mild frosts in Florida too
@@outofdangerproject I live by the coast so we get cold winds coming off the sea,the lowest I've experienced here is probably -1 c but that's very rare,this is my first rainbow tree I'm just getting into bonsai,not gonna touch this one though,I just don't want it to die as I spent money on it.
Sometimes they are a little delayed - I've read it can take up to 3 weeks, but if they are old seeds they might not be viable. I'd give them some time - hopefully they will sprout
Not sure, but maybe damping off? They might need less water and maybe some more light - maybe a grow light, depending on your situation. They are notorious for damping off, so it's good to start with sterile growing medium. Good luck - let us know how it goes, and thank you for watching our videos!
I just repotted once about 2 months after the original planting. if they aren't repotted soon it stunts their growth quite a bit until they get a larger pot. I've read in plantations these are outplanted when they are about 1 ft. high, and that seemed to work well assuming they are acclimatized to their planting location. Some I didn't outplant until several months later since rainy season hadn't arrived - They quit putting on much size after a few months in their pots but started growing about the same rate once they were outplanted. Those still survived fine up to now.
