Ingredients:
4-5 pounds of Apples (any sweet variety), peeled, cored, and chopped
1 1/2 cups Water
Juice from one Lemon
4 Cinnamon Sticks
Instructions:
1. Prep the Apples: Start by peeling, coring, and chopping the apples into small chunks.
2. Cooking the Apples: In a large, heavy-bottomed pot, combine the chopped apples with 1 1/2 cups of water. Squeeze the juice from one lemon into the pot. Drop in the four cinnamon sticks for that delightful warmth and fragrance.
3. Simmer and Stir: Place the pot over medium heat and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Stir the apples and cinnamon sticks occasionally to ensure even cooking.
4. Cook for 20 Minutes: Allow the apples to simmer for about 20 minutes or until they become soft and tender. You'll notice the apples breaking down and becoming mushy - that's when they're ready for the next step.
5. Blend to Perfection: Remove the pot from the heat and take out the cinnamon sticks. Transfer the cooked apples to a regular blender in batches. Blend until you achieve your desired texture. If you like your applesauce chunky, blend briefly. For a smoother consistency, blend for a longer time.
