I saw Maiden on the “Somewhere In Time” tour back in ‘87. It’s still one of the best concerts I’ve ever gone to.

My first concert! “Somewhere In Time" tour 14 November 1986 in Stockholm/Sweden with WASP as supporting act! I remember it as if it was yesterday! It was AMAZING!!

Probably one of Bruce's better vocal performances but definitely a pretty chill Maiden number compared to most of their catalog especially at that time.

Agreed. I'd say this, "Stranger In A Strange Land" & "The Number Of The Beast" are his 3 best vocal performances. His range, control, power, and vibrato stayed perfectly in tune for well over a decade and he still dwarfs most in his 60's.

One of the few songs that Iron Maiden came to a 'power ballad' song... Another was 'Strange world' (from 1980 w/ original singer Paul Di'Anno) This became a single back in 1992/'93 from the 'Fear of the dark' album, which undersold in the US because of grunge, but did very well worldwide... unfortunately followed by singer Bruce Dickinson leaving Iron Maiden for a few years...

Phantom of the Opera for sure. Be interesting to see their option of Paul Dianno the original Maiden singer. Saw Maiden with Bruce perform this one live (actually I've seen all the songs listed here performed live) and Phantom live was amazing.

lovely catch lex, you caught the feel of this song right on the nose. one of their softer songs that has a ton of feeling behind it. please watch more of their songs, but ya gotta watch live songs. ive never seen any maiden concert videos being blocked so go for those. fear of the dark 2001 rock in rio, the clansman same concert, seventh son of a seventh son live, blood brothers live in rio. hell anything from rock in rio 2001

In this episode of Brad & Lex, guitar harmony opens the gate leading the couch couple down a yellow brick road of strong vocals and drums subsequently dragging Lex into what is called her "concert member bop" as she gives tribute to all the featured instruments while her co couch partner blends in to the scenery barely showing his signature "side to side sway".

The official video for this song always left a powerful impression on me. It shows a guy who had been in several one night stands, never finding the right woman. But every girl's name that he had been with becomes tattooed on his body afterward as he restlessly tosses and turns and can't sleep at night. Really powerful imagery & the only video I know of that does something like that.

A good, somewhat out of character song for them. It was a very unwise decision on their part to make this the single from the album, since it is basically a dirge. The title song, Fear of the Dark, has become one of their staples. And the album also features what I think is their most underrated song "Afraid to Shoot Strangers". (Even the title is great for a song that really has a serious message). One of their more uneven albums overall, but with some real highlights.

Lex you sure tuned into the vibe of this song. I'd call it a Sensual Ballad done Maiden Style. That is surely what you looked to have tapped into during this listen and it is straight on. I think that you'd also like "Tears Of The Dragon" one of the solo songs Bruce Dickinson did after his departure from Maiden.

Never seen anyone react to this song. Its kind-of off the beaten path of maiden. A real deep philosophical melodic heavy song filled with guitar solos and slow builds is my all time favorite. Infinite dreams. That one will have brad thinkin and lex rocking. Keep it up guys

Check out their earlier work, from their NWOBHM years, which would be the first 2 albums (Iron Maiden, Killers). At the time, Paul Dianno was their vocalist and he had a punky vibe to him.

Not sure where you guys get your song list from, but the Maiden songs you’ve heard aren’t a very good representation of this band. Try Aces high, Powerslave, Two minutes to midnight, or my personal favorite, Flight of Icarus. Rock on and happy new year!

You should check out some of their live concerts from Rock in Rio fr example. But requires the video if you dont want to miss half of it.
