Absolutely loving these videos Rob, I'm sure I'm not alone in saying that they're invaluable to us lesser players/songwriters! I hate to sound like a nag but I really would love to see a video about necessary equipment/gear to begin recording from home. Much love from the U.K!!
I love the background MetaL that’s playing very low throughout the whole video…almost subconsciously keeps me pumped throughout watching the whole video. Excellent touch.
Oh and also bro, as one of my Patrons, you can download all of The Elite instrumentals to have for yourself! (which is the music playing in the background of most of my videos). Just look for a post from a couple weeks ago or search "downloads" in the posts search bar!
Been a fan of yours since Chimaira's Sydney show in 2004 - love your work, and loving that you produce this sort of content and share it on here, greatly appreciated man, cheers
Great videos! You are a massive influence on my writing! Mid 2000s Chimaira was the absolute balls, your riffs were like nothing I'd heard before. You guys, Machine Head, Devildriver, Trivium, Children of Bodom, LOG, Killswitch... the list goes on. My favourite era in metal. Thank you for taking the time to show how you do this stuff, the videos are invaluable. Still amazes me watching you nail those super fast picking hand chugs.
Thank you so much for this Rob, this was awesome! those extra production tips are killer too - like thinking about what extra layers you can add or how to produce the riff to get a certain feel for a part i.e the one guitar drop out to make the next sound bigger!
I saw you guys in Tallahassee Fl, 4/25/13 with Motionless in White, Asking Alexandria, and White Chapel. One of the best shows, & band combinations ever!! I started listening to Chimaira in 2005, (self titled album (34 now) at age 14 ish.. A friend of mine dead set on proving to me there was a band out there heavier than Slipknot. One day he stumbled upon you guys. He was so sure he found the band. Me being skeptic as usual sat and, I waited for this music to come on so I could laugh at him. But then I heard a voice say, “this song is called, “eyes of a criminal”.. (Jäegermeister tour) Out of nowhere this mean ass music pops off, along with an intense vocal style unique to anything I’ve heard before. Needles to say I was instantly hooked, & my buddy for once was right. Almost 20 years later I’m still a huge fan, & now one of your new subscribers. 🤘🤘🤘🤘🖤🖤🖤🖤
Love these past 3 videos, they have really helped a lot. I don't know why but guitar riffs I think of in my head just don't seem to fit to drum/click tracks.. I'm always too short or long. I'm guessing my internal timer is just out. I find it really hard to play with click tracks too. I've tried changing the patterns but for some reason, my timing is just better when riffing to a drum track. Anyway, great stuff, hope to see more of these longer in-depth videos.
Right on Jason! I suggest to just keep practicing to a click, and eventually you should lock in. I think doing this too, will help with your riff creations! 🎸
I was thinking duplicating and reversing the riser too! Haha! Great minds man. Sounds badass I'm really digging this track alot. Rob this is the motivation I've been needing in my life! THANK YOU!🤘🏼
I've been so busy lately im just catching up on the latest videos! but wow! great video always but that beginning song!!!!!! no one writes better riffs!!!!!!
Awesome Chris! Happy to hear it! I've got some cool production nuggets in my new Jason Suecof preset pack vid! Check it out: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-A3qSlHBrUbw.html
@@RobArnoldWorld killer! If those tones are accurate in your video (I'm sure they are) I'm about to buy that plug in! My main guitar for recording is a prs custom 24 SE. Hopefully I can get some sick tones like you brotha!! 🤘
Dude great video! Gotta say i enjoy these quite a bit I love the production tips and how thorough you are being explaining the process... maybe I was looking in the wrong places but there arent a lot of good metal production videos ive seen that have really felt worth it.
Idk why I never listened to chimaira or watched you channel before but I’ve just been going back and watching/listening to pretty much all of the older stuff. Absolutely killer 🤘
Thanks a lot Rob!! U are a true inspiration!!! This kind of stuff is the reason you are on my short list of greatest musicians! I hate sounding like a fuckin fanboy but when u produce this kind of stuff And then show us how u did it all ..it gets hard not sounding like one!! So once again ..thank you for all you do bro!!!
Rob I'm so glad that you've made another video like the last two and yes much more heavier and also this could be used for one of your near future albums. And this could be an instrumental or maybe I could put a title and some words to it.
Still fucking got it rob. Your one probably my fav guitar player if this millennium. I was gunna say "the best" but if course its subjective so.... But godamn I want a robarnoldworld album
Can’t wait to dig through this when I’m off work. I need all the help I can get at this point. Working on a few heavier songs. Oh btw, xpand! Does work outside of protools. I’m buying the plug-in this Friday when i get paid, it’s only $15, so i can see for sure if it works with waveform. Can’t wait.
loved the samples that you put underneath this Rob. Only one thing that I'd like to point out and that is the bass sounds like something for a video game. So please forgive me. You give me a title for this and that is "Bring the truth". Maybe a song about someone who doesn't know that it's like to tell you the truth and just lies all the time.
Ahh yes, I agree the bass sounds somewhat odd on its own. But in the mix, with all other instruments playing, it's less audible, and simply provides the low end support I needed for this track! It's simply a song writing tool, that I wouldn't use solely on its own in a more important production.
Another great video in this series dude. Keep them coming. Quick question, where are you recording your speech to if it’s not pro tools? Is your Rode mic recording to your phone?
Great question man! I had to figure that out.... I was like, "hmmm.... I usually record my spoken audio into pro tools while I'm filming. But because I'm using pro tools to make this video, and constantly stopping and starting it, how am I going to record my vocals??" So yes, exactly as you said, I'm running my vocals straight into an iPhone and recording to the voice recorder. I'm not as happy with the quality, but it gets the job done!
@@RobArnoldWorld thanks dude. It’s something I was trying to figure out myself and thought it was the only way possible. Did you eq it and stuff on your video editing software?
@@GreigSills After recording to the voice notes app, I then bring that file into pro tools, where I treat it with eq, compression, and noise suppression, then bounce it out for use along with the video!
Great! I used Superior Drummer 2, Avatar kit, with the Joey Sturgis Prisoner preset. I show it off and talk about it in detail in part 01 of this video series. Make sure you check it out!🤘
Cool man! I explain EXACTLY how I create the drums and bass, note for note, in part 01 of this video series! Check it out! 👉 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-F67iJv_qHJw.html Make sure you check out part 02 as well! 👉 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GVfuyQnF2AM.html Cheers!
Loving these videos, and also would love to see more "technique improvement/practice" videos! Anyway, quick question, since even used RA600s are few and far between, do you know of any guitars on the market right now that are comparable, both in build and price?
Check this one out if you haven't Jim! 👉 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XTNqu1kkPkU.html And I would say the ltd M-1000's are the closest thing to the RA-600's out there!
Interesting picking on the first riff. Instinctively i would downpick the 8th to have the speed of the motion stay the same. Did you think about that and chose to stick to alternate picking or do you just play it and thats how it is? Thx
Just for my own curiosity. Is their any situation you use a real amp? Don't get me wrong your tone sounds great. I have nothing against plugins or sims, if it sounds good then it sounds good . I have not made that jump yet in the guitar sim world,( I catch s##t for it all the time, mostly because of time restraint.) but the tone's you get from them are insane. Again great job bro 👏.
Trust me bro, I come from the real amp world. I only recently started using amp plugins, and find that the convenience is just too great to ignore. I have two half stacks sitting next to me at all times... But lately I've just been digging the sound of this STL tone hub so much! And the thing is, my main live and recording rig has always been a 5150 (or 6505) thru a mesa cab. And that's the exact combo I use in the STL plug. Sounds good to me!🎸 Cheers!
...what if you don't have pro-tools, recording gear or even a computer? What if you are the bassest, guitarist, drummer and vocalist!? Fuck I need a life!
In this day and age, you've simply got to take matters into your hands and make it happen. Like with anything in life, it's all about how bad you want it, and what you're willing to do to get it!🤘
