I got the surprise of my life when I raced an S1 in my golf R. I thought they were 1.4s 😂 and I was wondering why I was barely keeping up. Turns out he was running 350bhp and my golf is around same.

The owner of the Audi specialists called VRS in Northampton (Will) has built a monster 1980's Audi 90 with a 20v AAN engine pushing out some crazy power. Really nice build and a real sleeper with its stock bodywork, tow bar and cut out letters on the front number plate to let more air in. Be nice to see that on here.

Nice alternative car.Amazed that the clutch has held out! It seems to be a proper Achilles heel on the S1 especially in higher gears.It’s going to need to get replaced either way if he’s going for more power as it will be slipping like a Dutchman in clogs on an ice rink.

Well, this is what caradvice.com.au had to say... _”Speaking with CarAdvice in Spain, head of communication at Audi, Peter Oberndorfer, while not pouring cold water on the idea completely, did state another S1 is “not foreseen on this platform”._ _He cited the high development cost of the previous generation S1, which featured a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, married to a six-speed manual gearbox exclusively and underpinned by Audi’s quattro all-wheel drive system._ _“Honestly it’s difficult, with that platform, it’s difficult,” said Oberndorfer. “This was quite an investment. The A1 competition model will come with a 2.0TFSI engine running 200ps. But it isn't Quattro or manual. Same as the new Polo GTI.

i like the recipe on these. light, small, nimble and quick. but i dont like the typical modern things about it. expensive, way too much fake pops and bangs, fakeish sound, absolutely no space to wrench in/on it and the not-so-real haldex awd system. also that engine bay is really ugly. all plastic pipes and cables. but to each thier own.

99Lezard99 it doesn’t use the traditional haldex system, it’s a different set up that has a slightly higher rear bias and in dynamic it sends power at all times. “Mechanically the S1 runs permanent four-wheel drive with an electronically controlled rear locking differential that works in partnership with two-stage ESC. This means 'e-diff' style brake interventions to the inside wheels in bends as well as electronic torque distribution, which the promise of resulting improved agility and adjustability.”

Nick Manhota Ford is way more reliable, the clutch on most Audi’s are dodgy, the focus RS standard model performs better than the Audi S1 standard model, you have to upgrade the Audi by yourself basically, the focus RS is a powerhouse no matter the model and has lots of upgrades as a standard model, I wouldn’t really be comparing a focus RS to this Audi anyway m8, it’s more like a highly modified fiesta ST or an Ibiza FR Cupra than a focus RS. But you’re right just buy a Focus RS instead of this madness lol

It's not that the s1 can't fit the s-tronic box, its just that if they did offer it the s3 would have zero draw factor. Audi cant have the flagship hatch outsold by the s1

SL9SH Pretty sure they share the same block, I’m not too sure about internals, but revo do offer a 370hp ST2 map without upgrading internals, so I think you may be surprised.

Noxious I find that problem on the VAG world lol, as they have a gazillion possibilities as far as drivetrains and engines goes, I had to look on Revo site to see the gains for their maps confirming the same outputs as the GTI so it’s the crappy EA888 not the good one from the Cupra/R/S3, and also to be said, lots of VAG owners including tuners like to really pump their figures, mate of mine had a DSG stage 1 MK7 which according to REVO puts down around 320bhp, I at the moment had a mildly tuned Mk2 focus ST, which according to my mods at that time had to put down around 280bhp, I expected to be destroyed but to my surprise I pulled half a car on him 🤷🏻‍♂️, then he went and decatted the thing and loaded up the stage 2 software from Revo again which supposedly was good for 342bhp, I also did the same on my focus and did every bolt on except the turbo, which on Volvo/Focus mk2 world means Around 330-340 bhp on a very good day, re ran expecting to be destroyed, I absolutely obliterated him, funnily enough soon after that, the Revo web site corrected their outputs to more believable numbers.... I now have a manual E82 N54 135i with MHD stage 2 and I have S3s for breakfast on the highway so doubt they really develop the claimed 400hp VAG tubers claim, I do agree from a dig they are lightning fast, my opinion on the VAG world lol 😂

ZEPH // EDITOR i have very good sources which I can share with you if you want to have a read, and there are big differences between both engines, just to name a few: Cylinder head (made from a different alloy compared to other engines in this module because of higher thermal stress) Exhaust valves (hollow, higher Ni content, nitrided) Exhaust valve seat rings (improved temperature stability and wear resistance) Exhaust camshaft (adapted valve timings) Compression ratio 9.3:1 with different pistons Piston cooling jets (higher flow rate) High pressure injectors (even higher flow rate) Exhaust turbocharger Charge pressures of up to 17.4 PSI (1.2 bar) High performance main radiator with 1-2 auxiliary radiators (depending on country specifications) Additional acoustic modifications have been made in order to achieve a sporty sound - use of a sound actuator (for the occupant cell) and active exhaust flaps in the exhaust system

SL9SH I agree mate, revo do put some weird figures out, we have a Mk1 TT with a K03S 190hp (standard 180 have K03) and besides the 10hp extra I’m assuming this is one of the limited edition end of production models putting out more torque to then be told that for £460 expect gains of around 20hp. How things have changed, my first car was a replica escort Cossie me and my dad built blow up 4x engines before eventually building up a S1 rs turbo lump for it, I guess finance wasent an option back then.That Audi's a Wicked little car and wouldn't want to race it. Nuff respect much 💜

Saw this around Bristol last year, I pulled up in my N/A 2.0 Clio 197 and had a try and he left me for dust (obviously).... Needless to say I felt like a right prune! Absolute animal of a motor and the lad has done very well to keep the exterior extremely clean too, despite it looking dirty in this video. S1 may well be my next motor!

I guess you tired on the straights, remember mate the clio 172/182/197/200 are best for corners not straights until there’s a meg swap or a supercharger installed then it’ll be better for straights. Personally I think you would of had him on a country road in the corners, if you’re thinking about the s1 just watch the clutch as I’ve heard the stock clutch isn’t that good but me personally I’ll rather spend 3k-5k to do either the meg swap or install a supercharger on the clio than spend 10k+ on a s1 but it’s all personal preference

Don't half get the power down this, has it been set up boost by rpm as it doesn't spin just goes. Fwd/rwd no t/c is horrendous in winter

This car cost £30k without including the mods. He said he was looking to buy a gtr too? Yeah insurance in this country isn't exactly cheap but in Bristol at least you see a lot of younger people driving c63's m3's and m5's.
