👉 Ultimate Comparison: 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport vs Tucson 

There is no question the Santa Fe Sport is the better vehicle BY FAR...!!! The Tucson is a nice little SUV. However, it's turbo engine with the DCT transmission is PLAGUED with issues...!!! Turbo lag is a MAJOR problem for this vehicle. Where as the Santa Fe's turbo engine shifts nearly flawlessly without nearly any turbo lag even off the line from a stop or driving around town. That was the biggest selling point for me over the 2 vehicles and i'm sure for many other folks out there as well.

THANK YOU for this detailed review. I have been staring at car videos all afternoon. Yours FAR outweighs any I have seen. You gave GREAT detailed information and you spoke clearly and not to loud but not to quiet . PERFECT. I'm in the market for a new vehicle and I think I had it narrowed to these 2 so the comparison was EXACTLY what I needed. I am a nearly 59 yr old female recently widowed so I cannot say THANK YOU enough.

Great video @MikesCarInfo! What I like the most is that you compared similarly priced cars, which consumers look at while making their purchase decision. Additionally, I'd have liked the price comparison as well, since the basic idea behind this comparison is - going for an inexpensive larger SUV vs more equipped smaller SUV with a new design language.

Great video, Mike! This is like the ultimate comparison between these two vehicles! You really got to hit all of the points, where each of these cars stand out from each other! This comparison will definitely be helpful to many, since both vehicles, in a way compete in the same class. The Tucson can compete with both the sub-compact utility vehicle segment and the CUV segment. While, the Santa Fe Sport can compete in both the CUV segment and the Midsize SUV segment! Nice comparison between 2 similar Hyundai models. Basically, if you are looking for more space than get the Santa Fe. Also, if you are looking at the Santa Fe, they are doing a complete redesign for next year so I guess take a look at the leaks and decide if you would rather wait for that, or rather get this generation. My dad liked the 2017 Sonata more than the 2018 one and got that (also a $6,000 incentive to make room for the new ones helped). My dad chose this time, but my mom is choosing next time and it will probably be between a Santa Fe and CR-V when the 2009 Sonata goes so it will be a battle of the H brands.

Great overview of both vehicles. I went to the Hyudai dealership in Raleigh, NC to look at the Tucson and really liked it but it was too small for me (6'2"). Ended up test driving a Santa Fe Sport...didn't really like it. Went home with a Sonata Limited haha.

You should do some subcompact sedans like the Hyundai Accent and Kia Rio because a lot of people are looking at economy cars like Jose

I'm wondering how the Sante Fe is for headroom/legroom/shoulder room? I'm 6'3" and have big wide shoulders, I find most crossovers to be pretty narrow and cramped, I was hoping the story was different with this car.

The Santa Fe is one of the biggest SUVs in the Hyundai company, so the Kona is small, Tucson is medium, and Santa Fe is large.

Good review in detail Mike. But not a valid comparison. They are different sized vehicles. Also, the Santa Fe is old, while the Tucson is new. The all new Santa Fe will debut late this year in Korea, and will feature the new Hyundai design language that the Tucson already has.

You keep saying Santa Fe, and then showing the Tucson. I can read the labels you have on screen differentiating the colors of the 2 models, but the information you’re giving is irrelevant, if you’re showing a different car from what you’re describing. It’s like listening to a voice-over from an Escalade video, but watching a Maxima video. So confusing!
