Sebastian Rogers is missing. It’s now been a little over two weeks since 15-year-old Sebastian Wayne Drake Rogers who is autistic disappeared from his home in Hendersonville, with still no signs of the missing teen. The case sparked a massive search in Sumner County that stretched thousands of miles and lasted more than a week before officials said they were scaling back the ground search to focus more on the investigative side. Sebastian's mother and stepfather, Katie Proudfoot and Chris Proudfoot, said they felt overwhelming 'helpless and hopeless' grief. Sebastian's father Seth Rogers said he was at his wits' end trying to work out what happened to his son with no leads that make sense. He said Sebastian was not one to wander off, and due to an experience as a young boy would never go far without shoes on.

Sorry, it's not a competition between dad and step dad. There's definitely an issue because Sebastian is wetting the bed at Mom's house, but not at Dad's house. The contrast between Sebastian's behavior at Mom's house versus his dad's is the biggest piece of the puzzle and clue that something wasn't right at home.

The subtext and terminology here: 1. Runner is a specific term in Autism. It is also called Elopement. It is very common. My kid had it until the age of 7 or 8. He's ten now and we still watch him for it. The fact that she says he is not a "runner", she is referring to that specific aspect of autism. It is very significant that he does not have. (Many autistic kids drown because of this behaviour. They escape and are drawn to water.) 2. He went to bed when she asked him. In autism EVERYTHING can be a battle. "Stop watching that show and come do this" can lead to a massive meltdown. Eat this food. Take a shower. Go to the toilet. Go to bed. Anything and everything can lead to a massive tantrum. Our whole lives is a careful negotiation of not triggering this reaction. The fact that he went to bed when she asked without a fight stands out in her mind as a pleasant memory. 3. Any care-giving situation can cause tremendous stress on a relationship, which is why most parents of disabled children divorce. 4. Paternal fathers have a very hard time accepting their sons' autism. It is hard for paternal fathers do build a relationship with their sons, so it would be even harder for a stepfather to have a strong emotional bond with the child. 5. It's quite rare for the real dad to be this involved. It's lovely to see. 6. Friends. Autisics have a VERY hard time making and keeping friends. It is a very lonely life. Many of our children have NO friends. If you get another autism case a suggestion would be to call up an autism mom and get some input on some of the subtext. (Don't call an expert. The experts who study it are nowhere near in knowledge to a person who lives with it 24/7. I hear so many "experts" on the radio who unfortunately have no clue... No one studies the subject like a mother )😊 Thank you, TBP, for a compassionate evaluation.

I don't know of one Father not involved in their autistic childs life. I don't think that statement is fair or right... I think it's more difficult for men to understand but my brother has autism and is more close with my Dad. My friends child is completely non verbal, the Fathers there and so on... thank you for sharing information on this. I've seen a lot of these issues but each child is very different so the opinion of one Mum is difficult as every child on the spectrum is different... Marks son has autism too so he has an understanding of this. Many people diagnosed with autism have had divorce in their childhood, or trauma so there are more links to autism and childhood trauma on the developing brain being researched... I pray this wee boy is found safe and well. It's a terrible situation. My worst nightmare 😔🙏

They, especially the mom, has claimed that they have had serious threats & do not feel safe at their home. I heard them say in an interview that the husband doesn't feel comfortable leaving his wife to return to work. One thing the public forgets when these things happen is that the bills still have to be paid. Someone has to go back to work to continue bringing in an income. Mom doesn't feel safe at that house due to threats so she decided to go with her husband. I don't think there's anything suspicious about that.

It's always a bad sign to me when parents think there is no way a kid is online or in social media. Absolutely every kid over ten is online. Kids who are rich, poor, on the spectrum, strict parents, smart parents, unless they are Amish with no electricity in the middle of nowhere, they are online. They will not get any progress util they understand that.
@Kloops

I’m wondering if they have looked at his school and checked to see if he had a chrome book or laptop? My daughter has a school issued chrome book and she is 14. They give them an email address too. And they can actually get on line at school. Wondering what the teachers and his friends and their families say about the situation. You are right though, they can’t control every single thing and keep him off the internet. And the Amish now a days are not exempt from social media in some instances. The kids may not have it. But I’ve heard of at least one or two adult males who used social media. One for sure was a criminal case when his girlfriend killed his wife. I think he went by the name Amish stud. lol. Ick.

Nobody could run away without at least one doorbell cam or buisness cam catching him on video. Now days almost everyone has security cameras on their property. The neighborhood they live in with all very nice homes are going to have security cameras. A 15 year old boy does not have the mind set to leave his home in the night in a way that he will avoid all the neighbors security cameras. It just will not happen. Where would he have gone. He would have to sooner or later went past a buisness camera, a traffic camera. No logical way he would have avoided all these cameras. Another thing. The tracking dogs. This boy lived there. He walked out of his home everyday for school. He also walked into his home every day after school. His sent does not go away everyday unless possible alot of rain or snow may hinder them some. They would or should have found his sent. Considering he was to have walked away less then 6 to 8 hours befor the dogs were there. No sent was found. How is that possible if the boy walked out barefoot. There should be a sent trail for a good distance. No camera footage. No sent for dogs to find. It can only happen if a car inside a garage gave him a ride. Did the dogs go into garage and search for a sent?? Would like to know

I completely agree. I wouldn’t ask “how are you coping?” either, but that’s just my opinion. Asking how you are coping may be interpreted as you need to be doing something in order to cope. Sometimes people just need to feel what they need to feel, sometimes they are in total disbelief territory, sometimes they are in a state of shock. Let them be in whatever space they need to be unless there is something darker going on (as in they are feeling so hopeless that they are thinking of harming themselves-different story there). It can be argued that interviewers ask these questions because they feel like the most “natural” questions to ask (or maybe they really want to know the answer). Nothing natural about this path imho. Find a different path.

He's holding everything inside because someone needs to stay in control, drive to the hospital, talk to the doctors, etc. It doesn't mean it doesn't affect him and that he doesn't feel anything. There's a very pragmatic side to these sort of situations that quickly becomes completely unmanageable if everybody falls apart. Someone needs to stay sober. And the fact that it looks cold to others is not on the list of your priorities when your child's life is at threat. PS.: I really appreciate that you cover not only examples of deception but also examples of truth 💚

I don't know where Sebastian is on the autism scale, but I have a friend who has a son who is autistic. He never ran away or bolted until he reached around 15-years old, but around that age, he started running off at night and would even break into people's home, for no apparent reason. It reached a point that he had to be institutionalized for his own safety. I hope Sebastian didn't bolt in the middle of the night and wandered into some type of dangerous situation. - - At the beginning of the video when the wife was overcome with emotion, I thought I noticed the step-dad's eyes grow misty and the corners of mouth his mouth formed a sad downturn. It may have been the camera angle, but he did seem emotional. - - I noticed the mother and step-dad spoke of him in the present tense. - - Thank you for analyzing child disappearances. I hope that it helps locate young Sebastian and the others that you've covered. I often wonder about whether Summer Wells will ever be found. My heart goes out to all these parents!

Some have a dialectal speech which is grammatically wrong. In writing a lot of people simply cut out some parts...here she could have maybe taken out the "was/were to". Now I'm not American and English not my maternal language so not aware if the language there is in such process (a process of modernisation I personally find a bit annoying because it makes it more ambiguous even though it's efficient in having to use less words).

I believe the stepdad knows but the mom has no idea. I think stepdad done something to Sebastian without mom knowing. Stepdads blink rate was outrageous when Nancy Grace interviewed them recently. I believe stepdad saw Sebastian as a problem in their relationship & mom having to have contact with ex (Sebastian's Dad) I believe enraged him, made him jealous. He needed to eliminate the problem & that was Sebastian. Get rid of him & that "fixes" their problems at home as far as Sebastian having autism & requiring more attention, acting out, etc. It eliminates the jealousy as far as Mom having to coparent.

@NewtonDKC
@NewtonDKC 3 месяца назад
No kid would leave to meet friends without shoes. How are you going to have any fun barefoot in February? Most importantly the dogs found no trace of a scent trail of Sebastian outside the home, only inside - if he had left, especially on bare feet -the dogs would have picked his scent up big time. The door was locked and he didn’t take his phone. How would he communicate w/o his phone to this mysterious friend or groomer? Of course none of us know for sure what happened, and I’ll be the first to admit to it if I’m wrong, but with so many of these cases, and so many samples to choose from where the parents turned out to be guilty and innocent, IMO they are acting like the guilty parents. Mom didn’t check to see what the supposed “thump” was she heard. She just said “I don’t care what you’re doing, go to bed”, I would think parents of autistic children constantly check on such things to make sure no harm has come to them, and they haven’t gotten into any mishap, when she says he said he loved her before bed, she didn’t tell him that back, but also expressed no regret the way a mother would who didn’t get to tell her child she loved him, maybe the last time ever. She also didn’t call 911, the step dad did (Stated in another interview), a HUGE red flag. And what mother will leave the home they supposedly had a child disappear from? Psychologically you’d want & need to stay there waiting…IMO the mother did it, I think step father knows and possibly helped. Time will tell.

I think it very important to know exactly when the step father left the home to go to work. Does he have another residence close to where he works or does he stay at a camp? Has that residence been investigated? “He doesn’t like to be dirty, yet he left with no shoes” “He walked out at some point in the middle of the night, yet he hates bugs” When it comes to the parents not using the son’s name - I had a very difficult time using my daughter’s name after she passed away. As it brought on the tears immediately. I wish he would’ve held his wife’s hand or put his arms around her to comfort her.❤

As a high functioning autistic, all the behavioral things about Sebastian makes sense and I'd be concerned if he didn't have a touch of oppositional defiance, stubborn, love of music [often a wide range of preference means you need to look at what we listen to and when as it is a direct reflection of our mood and often how we express our feelings], not liking to be dirty as we tend to have some level of OCD. Something I have yet to hear anyone mention is that autism has a direct correlation with elevated intellect and that we tend to hide how smart we are as a was to fit in as we like sociopaths have to study and mimic normies as we struggle with social things like subtleties and body language. We also tend to get attached to certain people to quickly and way too deeply. I can easily see him being targeted by a bad faith actor as I myself was when I was 3. Combined with intellect I imagine the kid found a way to disable the parental controls on the Nintendo Switch to turn on networking and thus gain internet access and I highly doubt any of the 3 parents actually know just how smart he is and his capability with tech. I feel these people have very little knowledge of autism and have never tried to educate themselves on it, I see lots that point to the major issues being that they struggle with his behaviors and don't understand why he does what he does, I wouldn't be surprised if he has witnessed a lot of huge nasty fights about him and that he feels like he causes those he loves lots of pain and made a choice to leave so that he stops hurting them. I wasn't diagnosed till I was 38 and my whole life I was told that I was a burden, disowned, dead to the family and to change my last name multiple times among many much more nasty things, it's now been 6 years since I've had any contact with anyone genetically related to me including 3 siblings. I can really see this poor kid feeling unwanted and unloved as I have for far too long. My heart hurts so bad for this child and if I hadn't lost my faith decades ago I'd bee praying for his safe return. I agree that the stepfather at the very least blamed Sebastian for all the problems in the marriage and I want to know if there was concrete poured at the construction site that very morning not just out of convenience but what a better way to keep a clear conscience than make his permanent resting pace at the St. Jude Children's Hospital campus. The step father defiantly makes my 'tism sense tingle in a very bad way.

I noticed a few things right off the bat, Chris shakes his head yes when Katie says we had a good day, how would Chris know that he wasn't there, and second, he keeps looking at her to make sure she's saying the right things, he does this in the very beginning, and they both make sure to push the idea that Sebastian walked out of the house by himself, how do they know he left by himself, they don't, but they keep saying it. I wish they would have played the other interviews, where Katie changes the story, from we went to bed to this long phone call, and hearing a thud coming from Sebastian's room, and Chris the stepfather has all these scratches and what look like bite marks on both of his arms, he said it was from playing with the dogs, but it couldn't be, because Chris was gone for a few weeks working, so right there he was caught in a lie, so how did he really get all those marks on his arms. Don't let these two fool you, they've been lying since day one, and LE and the TBI dropped the ball, they never did forensics in the house or the cars, and they never took swabs of Chris's arms, and they should have interviewed them separately, they still haven't questioned them separately, they just took their word that Sebastian ran away.
