@@MattOsborne-MrLeicaComComparing with LLL 50/1.2 may be very interesting. And, conduct some tests with LLL 50/2 Elcan and 50/2 SP2 are more challenging.
My thought on Silver Lens is that it still looks good on a Black Camera. So this Typoch Lens on my Nikon Zf will look Retro and awesome, on my M8 Black I wouldn't mind a little splash of Bling. I always go with performance. In the coming years there will be a black version or something better. It is a Great time to have many options for camera systems these days. So many choices is a good thing. I have Leica M Voigtlanders 24mm, 75mm & Leica APO-Sumicron APSH f/2 90mm and am looking for that 50mm to round it off. 24mm is in the middle of the 21mm and 35mm so the 50mm be perfect stop gap that I am looking for. I am agreeing with You about Light Lens they are doing a Fabulous Renderings of Classics at an Affordable price. As you know I have multiple 50mm Nikkor lenses and one more will not keep me from using different ones on special occasions. The problem is PreOrder and Backorder and then Customs. Always waiting for the mail it seems. But the anticipitation of receiving one feels like Christmas Morning when I was a Child and didn't care waking up at 4am to see what special present that could bring me JOY and a Smile to my face. Thanks Matt! Cheers!
Hum if you are used to voigtlander lenses , the 40mm f1.4 could be a good alternative less costly and faster… and it s black :). Honnestly I don t see the interest of such a lens on a Zf… too small and with not exceptional quality mm for it I just bought for it the voigtlander 40mm f 1.2 and … it s just a dream. But if the 50mm is your cup of tea go there, what is important is to enjoy what you buy :).
That's a nice find. The right lens for the right job. No lens is right all the time. One thing I learned from your photos, is that models have absolutely no idea how to hold a camera. LOL
Thank you for this interesting well done review. Photos look very nice as always. Perhaps it wouldn't merit a whole new video, but I'm curious to learn more about the differences between the Eureka and the Elcan.
Hi Matt Thank you for your comparison and the effort you put into it. I think it's great.👌 A little tip: you lower your head because the camera you are filming with is apparently very low or tilted.😁 And another very professional video, thank you👍 Lg Anderl
Thanks and yes correct. I sometimes have the camera lower to show the table/ angle I want to record at and I don't mind coming down to camera angle level.
It's interesting that they came out with the two wide in the Simera line and suddenly jump to a new line for the "standard" lens. It will be cool to see them eventually fill out the typical focal lengths with Simera as I think they are quite interesting and innovative. I am not the biggest fan on how the Ultron 35mm render images, but it is permanently parked on my M240 when now in use because it has matching black paint!
@@MattOsborne-MrLeicaCom I almost got a LLL 35/2 instead of the Ulton as my Nokton Classic replacement, I do like the rending of that lens much better!
Great review. Best I have seen for a lens I truly want to add to my collection. Still would be willing to wait for the black version. Till then my Minolta M Mount 40 will do for my compact normal.
...danke Matt! Ich habe an meiner M3 DS das Sumicrome 50mm Regite f2.0 versenkbar. Die Bilder sind etwas weich aber da man es weiß läßt man es in der Bildgestaltung mit einfließen...👍
Thanks for the review! Very useful. So apart from the supplied slip on filter, how easy is it going to be to source and fit other coloured filters? And a clickless aperture? Is it easy to shift that accidentally?
Most people will use this on digital I think (in the modern day) so there won't be a huge new demand for filters. You can find normal push on filters on eBay used. I didn't have an issue moving the aperture by accident.
Hey Matt, I've seen that you've tried the lens with Leica M3, does it "click" into the mount? I've tried 3 copies but none of them "click" into the mount. However the lens clicks into my M10 without any issue. I hope you can tell me if this is a known issue. Great video as always!
@@MattOsborne-MrLeicaCom hmm, that’s interesting. Unfortunately, none of the 3 copies I’ve tried clicked :(. Thanks for sharing your experience though!
Correct, no collapsible lens can ever hit a FF sensor as it would hit the light baffle/ inside of the camera before it can reach the sensor. On MF digital there could be more of a risk.
Thypoch? It sounds like the breed name of Aunt Veronica's miniature dog. However, if one looks at Leica catalogs from the 1950s, full of names like SWOOP or ZOUM, one realizes that Leica cannot cast the first stone here.
What is this lens retail for? As a side note, having owned Leicas for longer than I care to remember, I have often wondred why it is that given the nature of all the Leica M cameras and their 35 & 50 lenses Leica never impkemented a focus lock. I don't mean that bloody infinity lock, it is as useful a spare dick in an orgy for photography, but a focus lock would let you set the focus for zone focusing or hyperfocal and be done with it. I am sure some China guy will soon implement this super useful feature. I also don't care much forlenshoos using a screw to secure it on the lens. Just take a look at the older Leica lenshoods with twin push tabs and also being dual focal length. We shall see, Matt.
Link below to the lens / price as mentioned in the video. I'm not sure we need focus lock with MF, just set it and forget like with zone focusing but I know what you mean.
@@MattOsborne-MrLeicaCom It doesn't work, Matt. It is very easy to move the focus with a Leica lens, unless the helicoil has been greased with a very viscous grade, particularly with the older Leitz lenses.
